    YES, EXACTLY RIGHT ! Ppl think I hoard what they think are useless items & packaging cos I'm a gardner. Its so nice to find a kindred spirit in this

    Great stuff! My son is worried that I'll become an old bag lady as I often find discarded items & take them home to repurpose. I just can't stand waste either. The things that people throw out is unbelievable. So much of it could've been repurposed. We are a very wasteful society. I try to do my bit to save items from landfill. Keep up the good work. 😂👍💕

      Right - gardening taught me how to live without waste. Our household produces so little garbage compared to most!

      Thank you! Wow this is a horribly delayed response, trying to do anything while raising a young baby is challenging. Thank you for watching and the sweet comment. :)

      Not only things that can be repurposed, I see stuff in great condition, I've found brand new stuff with tags still on them, I also live in a city with military bases and I've seen furniture galore, " I realize people also get evicted and all their stuff is thrown out but it is typically the entire contents of a house" nice stuff, was a nice bedroom set and leather sofa set thrown out that I was going to pick up but it was raining and by the time I got my friend and went back the trash guys were loading it up. We definitely need a better way of getting rid of unwanted item's like this rather than it going to the trash dump.

    there is no waste in nature and gardening is definetly a path to learning that from her

    Wow. You might've just saved my seedlings from squirrels. They eat everything in the garden. I wonder if I should bury cups down and poke holes?

    • @Kat-Knows

      i love squirrels, but they are really smart about getting the food they want. I feed my squrriels & it helps them not get my seedlings. With whatever u cover ur seedings with u have to make sure the holes are not big enough for the squirrels to reach thru & still grab a seedling, i use tulle. But u have to weigh the edges down too becuz squrriels learn to lift the tulle.

    A women after my own heart! I reuse all my plastic too for gardening it help reduce our carbon imprint. I love the cardboard idea. Never thought to put it in water, such a good idea!!!

      Yes! Especially since we're ordering so much more these days it makes me feel not quite so wasteful to add the cardboard to the compost pile.

    I do the same, already. Great thinking. Bio environmentalist applaud you for sure. The onion bag is new for me, thanks. I might run a few bags threw a sewing machine to make full sheet...zip tie that to a bird cage, to put my precious cuttings...mewhahaha!

    I hate getting rid of glass jars. Any tips on repurposing them? Thanks.

    • @Kat-Knows
      @Kat-Knows ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I collect glass jars & their lids from my friends, i make sure to give them a good scrubbing & i use many of them for storage for dehydrate garden foods. And i also use these jars & lids for lacto fermenting vegies with a plastic sheet like a spagetti bag used to help seal the lid to the jar.

    Love this. About the cardboard, its just what I need to do with mine. Do you use only brown cardboard or do you also use colored/printed cardboard?

    • @Kat-Knows
      @Kat-Knows ปีที่แล้ว

      i use colored printed cardboard like cereal boxes etc., but if the box has a really gloss or waxy shine then i usually don't keep it for gardening becuz the chemical in the gloss or waxy shine don't break down well for the garden.
