    Very thorough. I am planning to input more "R&S" with the speed we have on our squad. Thank you!

    As someone who has studied/coached this offense for 29 years and is a member of the Mouse Davis coaching tree, I found some interesting ideas in Coach Clark's version of the offense.

      There are teams that use the concepts of the Run-N-Shoot in their offense.This pass happy offense has a great deal of influence.

      The reason we don’t see pure RNS in the NFL is because defenses have gotten so much faster and athletic especially at the LB position. However Hawaii and Washington St. have ran it recently for the college level

    Hey coach, question for you. I’m a huge Washington State fan. Coach Rolovich from UH was just hired to be new head coach. As you know he is also a Run and Shoot guy. How do you think the Run and Shoot will do in the PAC-12 and which styles of defense are most effective in slowing it down? How often is the RB used? Coach Leach was incredibly stubborn in using the RB in his version of Air Raid. It’s a position a lot of Cougar fans would love to see more of. Thanks Coach!

    • @CoachMcKie
      @CoachMcKie  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey man, you are going to LOVE the Run and Shoot. Hawaii used the RB a little bit more than Coach Leach. And I think the Pac-12 is in a world of hurt.

    coach clark, got a couple of questions.
    1. how often do you actually run the ball, and if you do have a good athlete in the backfield do u go more balanced instead of pass heavy.
    2. how important are screens in your offense, and what types of screens you run.
    thanks for this i didn't know a whole lot about the run and shoot. intil this.

    • @jyclark18
      @jyclark18 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Coach- 1) the run game is very important to me, I am one of the coaches who emphasis RUN in the run and shoot. I have had seasons where we ran for over 3,000 yards in this offense. 2) Screen game is to keep the defense honest for me; we emphasize the screen game but we do not say we have to be a great screen team to be successful. That is just my own philosophy on screens; the two main screen that we do is Tunnel/Jailbreak or Slow/Slip depends on your terminology. Hope that helps.

      thanks for replying, i'm more of a smashmoth spread guy. running inside zone. inside trap, buck sweep and power/counter down the opponents throat and play action off of it. obviously if their is talent available id like to be balanced. i run a drop-back which pass which i think is based on the run and shoot based on what how i understand your offense. we call it choice. basically. from left to right or left to right. here are rules. # 1 10 yard in # 2 arrow #3 choice read (try to beat safety deep up the seam, if he cant runs a post, if he still cant beat the safety, he will find a spot to settle underneath the safeties) #1 runs a go. QB progression if 1 high: look to throw the go. next look at the choice route, if neither are open look for square in. against 1 high he will look to square in/arrow combination. the in should come open with the arrow stretching the slot defender. if the square in isn't there he will look for his best match up on the go or choice. we also run smash which would be your hook route. i guess the smash concept came from the run and shoot.

    • @andrewclarke3044
      @andrewclarke3044 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i guess dart is your version of power. i assume our choice route would basically be your go route.

    • @jyclark18
      @jyclark18 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dart is our "power" but the thing that I do with Dart is versus an even front we ONLY run it to a shade...odd front doesn't matter we won't check it.

    • @andrewclarke3044
      @andrewclarke3044 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's several ways we run power. We can be in a spread I set where our H-back is in a sniffer position between the tackle and guard. He kicks the end guard wraps to playside LB. playside linemen block down. Tackle hinges or he can go second level and we read the backside end. We can run it from split backs. We can motion a wing to his normal sniffer position. We can motion him from the slot position. We can run power from a spread set without motion by reading the playside defensive end. The QB or the RB can be the dive back. Counter is the same as power except the guard and H-back exchange responsibilities. When we're in a spread set and don't use motion we run a counter trey read play. Playside linemen block down, guard kick end, tackle wraps to LB. we're doing a thousand things but the exact same power/counter blocking scheme. Buck sweep is also the same scheme except you have a TE, wing, or H-back hook the EMOLOS. Both guards pull. One kicks out the slot corner while the slot recover cracks a LB, the other leads on a linebacker. Playside tackle blocks down, and center blocks back. All of this with the same Power blocking scheme.

    Is there a way that someone can share drills to improve kids performance on the RNS because kids need to do it on the field not just see it on the blackboard

    great job coach ...die hard run and shooter here ...just had our 3rd quarterback go over 3,000 yards running the shoot....do you ever run the READ concept ?? we have gone to that more than switch because of the quick throw to the flat on the frontside...helps wirh the blitz ....we also run 60 double quick outs out of trips , that we got from June Jones in the 2006 Nike manual ...it is straight cash homie ! You are singling up the apex linebacker in trips , and he's got double outs coming at him....if it's roll 2--- qb throws the front side fade ...if it goes to banjo and he has neither one open, he flips his hips and gets backside to his single receiver running five step post ......great play !

    Questions
    1. How do you attack inside the opponents 10?
    2. How do you get your receivers open when your opponent is more talented and playing man coverage?

    Coach I know my question was fairly wordy and perhaps not as clear as I wanted to be. Basically what I wanted to know is. Specifically, against Palms coverage that morphs into a Cover-2 Sheel or Cover-4 Quarters. What does he teach his older or advanced QBs (Varsity ball) how to read the differences between the two. He mentioned MOFC and MOFO coverages. Middle of Field Closed/Open. Pre-Snap what are the keys for his QB and WRs and then Post-Snap what are the main keys for both the QB and WRs?

  • @erickilpatrick5265
    @erickilpatrick5265 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I also run X or Z choice out of Trips Stack. You can switch the routes of all 3 receivers and the defense has no idea who is running which one...Drives them crazy.

    • @CoachMcKie
      @CoachMcKie  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great idea. It's simple for the offense, but difficult for the defense.

    • @erickilpatrick5265
      @erickilpatrick5265 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you can do the same thing with by stacking your receivers twins concepts. They don't know which of the receivers will do what route.

  • @jameswinterfield765
    @jameswinterfield765 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    slot receivers don't always need a route tree ...if you look at henry ellard who was not a slot but still ....you can learn how to banana route and find openings in zone coverage .....he had a successful redskins career doing that very thing ..

    Our QBs have weak arms, which forces us to run a West Coast offense. We have to stretch the defense horizontally.
    Our QBs struggle to hit the 10 yard out near the sideline and to throw the ball into the endzone from the 20 yard line.
    Despite that, we have won our leagues by making good choices and playing fundamental football.

    How would you stop the Jet Sweep?

    • @CoachMcKie
      @CoachMcKie  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would spin to the jet motion. But I would be giving up something backside.

    • @TedSeay
      @TedSeay 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Coach, you can stop any one play if you try hard enough.
      However, if your opponent has installed the Jet Sweep SERIES, he will attack the adjustments you used to slow down Jet Sweep.
