Nice tutorial! I'm considering buying the game (just waiting for the funds^^), and tbh the Aeon quirks and gimmicks seem very appealing to me, since the range-mastery, shield-spamy early land strategy actually fits the bill with how I usually RTS, and, as a universal lover of bomber units and kamikaze units, I feel like the Aeon air is probably still their best asset and the one that can really get you going with that faction, and the most seductive part of that faction. I know nothing, though.
BRNKoINSANITY Yeah. I just tend to schedule my buys, which is actualy pretty useful not to go completely overboard with it. If a game gets higher in my priorities during the mean time (like SupCom just did), I buy it instead. Really considering making an exception, though, and buying it basicaly right now.
Akrane Show FAF works with ripped version of the game.. so if you cant afford, dl from various torrents, install game client faf and voila .. plz dont hate me ! :D
well the alien ships in that do the whole blowing up the empire state building in very similar ways to that which the czar works in supcom. hence we call it an independence day.
I had to learn that you absolutely need t1 arty with your auroras if you want to get to targets past pd. Because there doesn't seem to be a critical mass for you to run by a t1 pd with auroras ^^.
Hey Brink, I'm going to start playing some aeon... I am normally a Seraphim player and 2ndly Cybran (rarely ever UEF)... I'm considering Aeon, as I play air in just about every game. Realistically they have like 6 Experimental units (being honest.. lets face it the Eye of Rihan and Salvation are not very T3)... In addition to that advantage they have restorers which I hate countering as seraphim... Also by chance, do you know if when the colossus kills with tractors, does the player receive the reclaim value of the destroyed unit? If not, I think this should be implemented. Although I am only a global 1k+ player I think this would be an interesting incentive.
"I can't think of any dedicated naval maps off the top of my head that don't have an established meta already, so I won't talk about the navies" all stella, sera glaciers, -betrayal ocean- and white fire players weep at this point in the video
Raptor Jesus And anyway, waterless maps annoy me to some point. Sure, the game is perfectly awesome without navy, but navy is one of the key aspects that makes FA stand out among RTS games, so why choose not to play it? Just imagine "no-air" games...
Couldn't disagree more about Obsidian's. In large number they are unstoppable. With their massive alpha strike they can even take on T3 units and vaporise a large quantity of them. They are the Percies of T2. Put them in a shield too, like you said, and they are bad news. I always mix them heavily with my T3.
How much has changed with the balance patches, especially with the t3 balance patch? Is the t2 MML still trash? Asking because the video is now 3 years old :)
I guess this doesn't apply to forged alliance forever as the harbingers have double the DPS of other ABs, t2 heavy tanks are good and the aurora is not as good as you say.
I found that a few tightly packed blazes properly microed can wipe t1 armies. they can dodge really effectively, and they don't overkill bc of their fast attack rate
There's a step you skipped in the "how to win reliably" method. You rush auroras, bruise your opponent enough to stall for T2 air, then do the same with gunships long enough to stall for T3 land, then drop harbies everywhere there isn't flak.
Or just reach t3 very quickly and drop harbingers. I have done that and worked. Just one is not too effective against many t1 units but 3 of them annihilate any t1 army with good view and intel. And the more veterancy they gain they more effective they are
another thing you can do: rush to t3, get some good defenses up, get the t4 resourge generator, and then mass-produce t4 units and t3 units w/ a lost of engineers to mass them
I just want to add that aeon t2 mobile flak has hover. So it can be used to defend navies from gunships.
I’m glad someone else noticed the Colossus being more effective when not moving.
I´m so waiting for payday to get this off steam.....so nice to see a great community keeping a great game alive! Respect!
The plural for Colossus is Colossi ;)

5 bucks on amazon will get you a steam key for the FA expansion... that is all you need :) FAF works without the original game.

BilenRi No, I'm going to hate you. Spend $5, stop stealing.
You deserve any and all hate you get, thief.
"the czar" - or as me and my friends call it -
INDEPENDENCE DAY THEY HAVE AN INDEPENDANCE DAY KILL IT! BUILD SAMS FUCK FUCK FUCK!
+FantasticMr.Fox Independance vs Uncle Sam. Battle of America.
Evan Galea guessing you havent seen the classic film independence day?
I have though. Why?
well the alien ships in that do the whole blowing up the empire state building in very similar ways to that which the czar works in supcom. hence we call it an independence day.
I know.
7 years later and this is still good info lol
With the aurora kiting all you have to do is use the attack command (like on engies) and retreat.
Huh? Why no stuff on the Aeon navy? Not judging. Just curious why you didn't cover their naval stuff.
I wonder if you could link this video in the wiki. It would help a lot more than the old aeon strategy guide.

Mix them with shield or just get both commander gun's upgrades which are cheap and with them and overcharge you can easily outrange and overwhelm pd

You forgot roanoke abyss.
flouded tabula rasa too :)
yes zolikoff, definitely. it's an important layer of the game :) plus Salems are fun.
belatedcube1021 Drkeyser35 ya I forgot loads of maps ^^
Aeon is such a derpy race.

juliusEST Sarah's not talking to us any more.

There have been some balance changes since I made these. A lot of it still holds true though.
I know I'm late to the party but, blazes plus dome shields feel much more responsive than obsidians
I found that a few tightly packed blazes properly microed can wipe t1 armies. they can dodge really effectively, and they don't overkill bc of their fast attack rate
You do tutorials, that's awesome.
Only just subbed, seems I have some catching up to do. \o/
love it. good break down. makes me want to try my least fav faction.... :)
Helpful tutorials! Great work. :3
I have a question: if the tech 2 units are really that weak isnt it better to turtle in mid game ?
Turtling never really works in my experience, giving up map control is sure to cost you a match
I just wonder why once with 3 or 4 aeon battleships i Lost against a single cybran or uef battleship
also, you should do one for the dreaded seraphim...know one knows how to play that... jk...its just not a favorable one...
T4 mercy ftw.
Please version 8 of Diversity :D
Inb4 GC picks up Teddy nickname
Can i play too

I am curious. Does this actually work?

Judica van Busschbach If you are in a 2 hour long game, then yes :D
How to win with Aeon?
Just drop a Czar on the enemy
Mix auroras with shield. In good numbers they Can beat almost anything unless they're outranged.
