    Cracking RX! Something which I don't think you mentioned. That switch at the bottom with the Cal position if you set it to that it should turn off the front end and switch on a crystal calibrator which should give you marker signal every 100 KHz. So turn it on and check that the main (35mm film) dail is correct, now the clever part if it isn't the plastic dial surroun molding has a lump at the top in the middle, that lets you move the position of the dial pointer so the read out is spot on.

    Lovely receiver; used one at Chatham islands/ZLC in 1968.

    Very nice Andy, we still used these in the RAF when i first joined in 1984 then eventually replaced with the 1772, I have two RA17s in my workshop shack, vintage 62 and 64
