Opium Poppies are very easy to grow, it actually is like growing grass, and you do just throw the seeds on the ground, they require very little maintenance .
They're very hardy plants, but require good drainage/dry environments to bloom, but humid environments to germinate. Which is why sowing in winter and germinating in spring is a good idea for most of the northern hemisphere

So that makes no sense. If the same amount was grown and sold. You would assume the same amount of medicine was made from it . Why would it be worth less . The price of medicine didn't go down, it always goes up and is harder to get. They don't make it and not sell it. Unless the amount grown world wide is at an all time high and or you are selling to different markets? American could just get their supplies cheaper from invaded countries earmarked for illegal drugs. So if pain patients weren't the recipient of the product where did all the opium go?

Prescription opiates have decreased for several years while Fentanyl has increased. Credit where credit is due.
