Are we calling mass produced keyboards "custom" now? She even says your warranty is void if you open it up. What's custom about this? Genuinely curious.
@@johnathanredcrest3960 apparently most keyboards have their warrenty voided like this and it's obvious that anybody that wants to do a lot of modding know what they are doing and knows the risk. Just think about it, how can you as the company justify to cover any damage or replacements needed if this was covered under warranty? or that it might be difficult to have specific guidlines.
I have this board and bought the white version with a grad student discount. I replaced the keycaps with a WoB set and changed the switches with WS Morandis. It is phenomenal -- even the stabs were perfect out of the box which is a first for any board I've bought or built. All I can say is bravo, Razer.
@@mhm35 Some people just follow what their favorite content creator says. Let's say there is a specific content creator that loves morandi's. Morandis are not special they are decently smooth and have a muddy sound profile. Nobody likes muddy. They either like a nice crisp clack/pop or thock.
I'm not all that in deep with the Custom Keyboard crowd, but I can say the second content creator I ever watched on it (I think it was HipyoTech) used Morandis on a keyboard they reviewed. I thought the point of custom keyboards was making them to your liking? Most people may not like muddy. But if the person who comments is happy with Morandis on this keyboard, who's to say it's a L take? They customized it to their liking. They'll probably change it again at some point. It's precisely this type of stuff that kept me away from the hobby so long. So many enthusiasts don't have objective commentary to share. It's often just subjective comments about "thock". Not reliability. Seldom is it build quality. Hardly ever how it performs in the many uses outside of typing (spreadsheets, data entry, gaming, what type of sound environment it could be good in for people that have coworkers or family near their setup to consider). No. The commentary is almost always "BuT hOw DoEs It SoUnD?!" and saying something is great or garbage based on what is pleasing to that commenter's ears. Don't get me wrong. I like the same sounds you're describing. But it's hardly good purchasing advice, and dissing people who like things differently is not helpful to get them more knowledgeable on the various offerings in the hobby where people put BAND-AIDs and kinetic sand in their keyboards. That kind of stuff would sound crazy to some people, but its commonplace amongst keybs hobbyists. Just help people learn without disrespecting their learning curve and experimentation.@@jlee9360

The keyboard is beautiful, can't argue that. But the keys are a nightmare with their double clicking! I just ordered a set of Akko switches to see if it solves the issue, but I wouldn't recommend this keyboard at full price.
Razer stepping into the fully customizable keyboard market is a nice thing, being hot-swap and all. Speaking of hot-swap, I found out that isn't the first hot-swap keyboard they have. . . Turns out the Deathstalker V2 is hot-swap as well. Of course, with the switches on that thing being low-profile optical, it's only with other low-profile optical switches too, but yeah. Not a feature they ever advertised. Regardless though, I've been keeping an eye on this keyboard for a while and seeing what people say. Might cop it if it ever goes on sale in the near future. 👀
Just to let you know, if you ever plan to open up the keyboard, you void the warranty. I had this keyboard and am returning it because of that and the fact that it isn’t fully aluminum, it’s a really good keyboard and looks stylish but I don’t think it’s as customizable as it’s advertised to be
Not sure I would ever want to buy another razor product again. When I was much younger I own the original Black widow, and I also had one of their mice. The Black widow stopped working after a year and the mouse also had some really weird glitches. The switches in the black widow were terrible, they were some knockoff cherry MX style that just felt and sounded awful. And I remember when I tried to get help when the keyboard suddenly stopped working, razor just kind of blew me off. My main keyboard these days is a glove80, the only thing I don't like about it is that it's not hot swappable, but it does its job extremely well.
i heard the keyboard have a hardware failure it double taps the letters double after a time ? what is your opinion on the whole rma with that keyboard type looking on the amazon 1 stars !!!
Looking online you can lower the polling rate and clean the keyboard and if that doesn’t work it’s an issue with the switches and swap them for different switches
I am the owner of this keyboard and yes this problem is a fact. In less than 2 months, double clicks appeared on many keys. I bought myself a set of "Akko V3 Lavender Purple Pro" switches and it helped me, the switches are very pleasant and tactile, the double click disappeared.
Went into Microcenter to try keyboards for the first time and this one just obliterated the competition. Such an easy choice, will be buying later this year when I build a pc
Hey, I noticed an error in your database: It says the switches on the Razer Deathstalker V2 Pro TKL are not hotswappable. In fact, they can be hotswapped, and are compatible with the Keychron low-profile optical switches. I changed out the switches for Keychron bananas on mine, and I would highly recommend them for those who like tactile switches.
I have the full-sized V4 Pro version and this thing just exudes quality. What really felt like a custom keyboard when it ain't to me is the Asus Scope II 96, it just feels very unlike a name brand keyboard, more like one that 'serious' typists/gamers use I don't know how to describe it lol.
What were the quiet switches you had on the “E” key? I have MX cherry silent reds at the moment and I was thinking of doing some Zilent switches after watching keybored’s video as I already have half the required switches but Aliaz are expensive here in the UK. I have ordered some lube and other sound dampening supplies to try that before going the new switch route anyway.
just wished razer products had more longevity to them. ALL of my razer products have crapped out after just a couple years in one way or another. MY LORD $189 for all that plastic. Steep for that and its not even wireless.

Hey i was looking for a review of the huntsman v2 tkl with red optical linear switches or the razer huntsman v3 pro tkl, wiill u make a review of one of these anytime? would be really cool to know your thoughts, because im tempted to buy the v4 75% for gaming in sc2 or other esports/programming, and carrying it to other places, but the tkl huntsman kinda tempts me, i dont know if the "optical" switches and pbt doubleshot keycaps will really be a nice advantage in gaming as they offer
so, after watching many reviews of the Blackwidow v4 75% I decided to pull the trigger. I have to say, without a doubt that this is Razer's BEST keyboard yet. There is no other Razer keyboard that compares, not even close and I have them all. I hope they release a 100% keyboard in the future because i'm in love with this thing! Way to go Razer, you knocked it out of the park with this one. I've only had it for a couple of days but so far... it's awesome!

I’m new to key caps and made the mistake of purchasing some pudding key caps from Tecware and they didn’t fit the stems of the green switches. Thank you if you could help me.

This board is by far the worse board I have owned from Razer. Just did an RMA on mine and I am reluctant on even opening it up and using it. I had double and triple typing, no input response so I had to press the button several times just so the character can display, a few of the LED diodes went out. The board was up to date with software as well. Some how this board lacked QC when being assembled and it shows. However, it is physically a solid board and pretty damn nice to type on when it actually works. For the price, I would stay away from this board and go somewhere else.
What i don't get is why people love these heavy weight springs what are they smashing their keyboard to type? 50 grams is close to perfect weight for typing and gaming with gaming probably being a little lighter than 50g. Also what is 50g is that to start actuation or bottom out? Regardless i bought this keyboard and had to return it due to horrible ticking in the space bar and two other keys.
I think with any keyboard it depends on what you’re looking for in a keyboard! Are you primarily needing keyboard for typing, work, or gaming? I prefer Razer because I purchase with the following priorities: 1. Gaming performance 2. Work functionality 3. Typing sound, experience Up till this keyboard, I put up with the poor sounding and relative lack of customization Razer offered because I wanted every millisecond of advantage. There’s many quality keyboards for far less if low latency isn’t a priority. But that said, I’ve been happy with this keyboard and the other two Razer keyboards I purchased since switching from Logitech.
Would you recommend trying them over the browns? My batches of WS browns (though I love the good ones) have been very inconsistent and I’m open to alternatives.
@@jono708 akko switches are good enough tbh, u can barely tell the difference between them. I had ws reds and akko V3 cream yellows and the only difference was the travel difference and I feel the akko yellows were smoother when lubed compared to the WS reds. But the plus about the ws browns is the sound, akko V3 cream blues will be deeper compared to the WS browns

Sorry to say this, i know Razer is sponsoring this review but tried the keyboard, and its super plastic ... i actually bought it due to all the reviews, because i wanted to try out what was all the fuzz about, but as soon as i took it out of the package ... tried it for 5 minutes, and it went back to the package... the feeling is sooooo flimsy ... and the sound is ... the usual sound of a plastic keyboard. Yes, it's better than all the other Razer's for sure but ... other than that,... for 200USD/EUR ... it's a hard buy ...
I watched a video of a guy reviewing nuphy keyboard, and he doesn't do reviews normally. Hearing him explain how one bad review of a product deters getting more products for future sponsored reviews. You can do that on most razer keyboards, just do FN CTRL and a number 1 to 7
also i might not recommend installing the software rn due to issues with double typing keys with it

Check the ROG Azoth, it is a 75% and I think it's better than this. Has 2.4 wireless and BT. Full customizable.

I wonder if the Razer switches are going to cause issues with other keycaps... with that dome defuser on it.
It will have issues with Cherry profile as far as I know, you can take out the diffuser and it will cause no issues.
Update: I can say that the pudding keycap set i got suffer from no issues from the stock razer orange switches.
Avoid this keyboard, I had two (one replacement) and they both had key spamming.

If it was aluminum bottom case it’d likely be $300 lol. The top is aluminum. Definitely heavier than the other Razer keyboards I’ve owned.

Space bar and Enter i’d presume? It’s because of the stabilizer choice from my understanding. Could be addressed quite easily.

Not quite but the tactile bump is similar to akko V3 blue creams

not so sure about the "best of the best rgb from razer", 1 year and expect at least one key to break the RGB.

Sorry to say this, i know Razer is sponsoring this review but tried the keyboard, and its super plastic ... i actually bought it due to all the reviews, because i wanted to try out what was all the fuzz about, but as soon as i took it out of the package ... tried it for 5 minutes, and it went back to the package... the feeling is sooooo flimsy ... and the sound is ... the usual sound of a plastic keyboard. Yes, it's better than all the other Razer's for sure but ... other than that,... for 200USD/EUR ... it's a hard buy ...
