    Desirable organ back in the early 70s. This was a pretty well optioned spinet. Enjoy this piece of 1970s Lowrey technology

Mine had this drum beat thing I liked a lot! I hope I find a yahama electron or another lowrey geenie or something hopefully that isnt a back breaker and will fit in the suv on it's back.

    Good post!!! This was my go to keyboard. My folks bought one in 1966. all the goodies tape, wha wha, rhythm machine, I remember changing a cap on one note because it didnt sustain of course i had a slightly different value and when i hit that note it was a little bit longer. Just to big for my floor space

    You arent by any chance in or around St Louis are you? My grandparents had one just like this and I was never sure what ever happened to it. It had some problems and I never really learned to appreciate it while they had it but now I am getting more and more into synths.

    • @caleykelly
      @caleykelly  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Tyler,
      No, I'm up in Canada. These rigs are basically very unique poly synths. As a matter of fact, 8 understand that some of the Yamaha Electones have the same voice cards as cs80s.
      They often pop up on classifieds if you have the room for them.

  • @dasreicht

    Do you know where I can troubleshoot a broken Lowry organ? It just stopped working one day, mid song :/

    • @caleykelly
      @caleykelly  ปีที่แล้ว

      It'd take a bit of electrical know-how. Considering it just stopped completely, I'd start with the power supply and, hopefully, the fuse attached. Past that, it begins to get more and more complex.
      Next thing to check would be the power amp. This is all tube and high voltage, so be careful.
      I'd say if it totally quit on you, it should be something in 5he power supply.
      Good luck!

    I just ran across a guy getting rid of one of these local to me, and found your video when I went looking for info. If I could ask, how heavy is it? If I can move it with an appliance hand truck, I might just have to save one. Seems too funky not to make a play for, especially at the low price of free.

    • @caleykelly
      @caleykelly  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's the catch. If these weren't so heavy, perhaps people would still want them. You need 2 people to move it; like 200-250lbs.
      If you got they space, they rock though.
      Sorry.

    • @performa9523

      @@caleykelly I appreciate the info! I doubt there's too many people in line to snag it, so I should be able to arrange the seller to hold it until I can get more people this weekend. Lucky for me, it would be moving from the ground floor of a church to my garage, so I'm thinking if I can get the cart behind and underneath it, I should be able to get it on and off a ramp trailer with a couple friends pushing. I guess we'll find out!

    Very cool. Were you able to salvage the drum machine and tape deck as one unit?

    • @caleykelly
      @caleykelly  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately not. Sadly, it would not have been as modular a unit and would have required a lot more work to have working on it's own.
      I was able to take sizable samples of all the rhythm settings. That way the samples can be used as single hits, or you can use the original groove of the machine in all its cheesey glory
