"Rumor has it" , this wasn't a rumor. Greg from Unofficial Use Only was kind enough to tell you about this trick.
On the first generation Wranglers the tube is a pass-through design and can be yanked from the outside of the tank. However if you don't want to chance it leaking I recommend reaching inside and trimming just like you did. Now the second generation Wrangler known as the TJ, the internal hose is not a pass through design and you have to remove the pump and do it exactly how you did. The 20 plus gallon tank on both models only leaves approximately 1 in of tube on the inside of the tank.

Do I need the 19gallon pump and assembly or the 15gallon, plan on doing both at the same time???

This is a great mod! I did this a few years ago on my YJ, I didn’t drop the tank though I just squeezed a channel lock pliers between the frame and tub and yanked that tube out in about 10 minutes.. I don’t have any body lift either so there’s just enough room.

Had my mechanic do this when he had to replace fuel tank straps to pass inspection (was replacing fuel lines anyway). Great having the extra capacity!

Good to see you are still making content, when I did this mod, I got a total of 21 gallons capacity. My Jeep ECU project has progressed to the point I can now read and flash the EEPROM without dissembling the ECU, so now you can clone a 4 cyl Jeep ECU onto a 6 cyl YJ or ZJ ECU to keep as a backup.

Dude that's awesome! I'm sure that will be helpful as the 4cyl ECU continues to become more and more rare.

Yes, it works on the Jeep TJ. Did this mod about 2 years ago on J.J. for more fuel range. Actually made a video of the process on my channel as well. Love the mod! Thanks for posting

I had my tank out last Spring. I wish I would have known about that then. Oh well. Great video! Thank you for sharing this information! While I had the tank out, I removed the tray in the bottom. It was warped a lot more than yous.

On the 88yj you can pull vent tube from the outside!! It telescopes into the outer housing.

friend, the internal deposit of the tank so that the gasoline pump does not dry out, mine did not bring it where I buy it, what is it called, where do I place it? Please if you can help me I would be grateful

  • @williamwest5827
    @williamwest5827 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Liam, This also can be accomplished by removing the stem from the outside without dropping the tank. It’s rather difficult to pull it out but not impossible. Once it’s out, just cut the hose and reinstall.
Obviously, you can’t get to the gauge unit, but if it’s working, no need.
Finally received the Bronco notification on the estimated build of 5/30/2022. It will possibly be at the Dealership in July. That’s almost two years since my original reserve.

Hey my friend. I have a 2.5l dakota. While I’ve done some of the modifications that you detail in your channel, im considering the c230 kompressor supercharger. Im wondering which mods are absolutely necessary to pull it off.

That is a double wall tube. Needle nosed pliers can slip inner piece out and cut it then push it back in!!

I did this to my 92 YJ. I did not drop the tank I just pulled the hose out from the nipple. Cut around 3 to 4 inches off. And I get a little over 20 gallons in the tank. Just when people do this you May's have some space for expansion of the fuel . Saying this so no one will cut it too short. Much easier then dropping the tank.

4 cyl didn’t need extra gallons or weight. Longer vent cut capacity back
To 15 gal. 6 cyl didn’t care about extra weight. Short vent made 20 gal. You can get 20 gal in 4cyl tank if you take your time at pump and milk it in. !!!!
