Video #12: Our BUILDER Was SHOCKED By What We Did . . .

  • After framing in all the major walls in our basement BEFORE our builder got here, it's now GO TIME as he shows up with his crew and is SHOCKED at what we did (we hadn't told him) . . .
Meet Our builder, who will frame our house, add the windows and doors and the siding and roofing!
But the REAL question is, WHAT did he have to say about our WORK, and WHAT does he think of this project?
Plus we stand our FIRST main floor wall up on our modern barndominium . . . but will the WIND take it out?

Subscribe and follow along as we build our DREAM HOME after 10 long years of saving and waiting! It's a barndominium house plan with a shed style roof. It's a barndominium hybrid, so it's stick-built and on a basement because here in Michigan we get a LOT of tornadoes!
We'd LOVE to build it fully from the ground up, but sadly our local township only allowed us TWO YEARS to fully complete our home, so it's a race against time to try to get everything done BOTH with professional help AND on our own!
Building half of it on our own allows us a MASSIVE savings with our budget and makes this unique home design actually affordable!
We started with a low cost floor plan, to make this an affordable barndominium and learned how to save money on a house build.
We have some fantastic ways to save money on a new house and easy DIY home design tips!
This is going to be the coolest house on TH-cam by the time it's complete!
If you have suggestions or ideas, we'd love to hear them!

I see why you were spending a lot of time with the video camera!!!! So glad the builder showed up with lots of help, equipment and experience. So much for the 500 day 'No Swell' plywood. Things are going fast with a large crew that is experienced. I'm glad the builder was cool with your framing, and doesn't mind the help. Those engineered trusses will make it easy to run wiring. It looks like the chicks think that Erin is their Mother, too cute. Very nice video, but the music volume is slightly too high for me. Also, you need to just say, "This Life We Live", at the end. It makes it easier to find your new channel. Keep up the good work.

When the air is so thick with moisture you know that you have air to wear. That also makes it thick, which is harder to breath.
You and your contractors need to be aware of that and take many breaks. Breaks cost less than hospitals.

since the build is going to last the next 2 years and revolve mostly around the build, and since the wtfarm girl channel wasn't growing at ALL despite heavy changes to editing and other areas, I decided to try something different and take all my old farming videos and release them in order one a new channel www.youtube.com/@WTFarmGirlVideoPage so they wouldn't be erased forever. The idea is that whatever TH-cam hated about my previous work would all be purged and slowly start the channel fresh, being more inclusive of family projects.
People just are not excited about the christmas tree farm and that's where most of our farming energy is going into, so it was either move everything and try to refresh the current channel, or let it fully die :(
