Best design in the MHW elder dragon department imo - where others spray some annoying powder, or block your will to live with gusts of wind, this chad of a monster just comes up and beats you to a pulp using nothing but his body and his 2 bare (and sometimes not so bare) hands. Absolutely my most favourite monster in the game.
@@debleb166 Kushala is legit so awful in WorldBorne, either you don't know how to headlock him, and the fight takes at least 15 minutes longer than it needs to because he's just going to waste your time. OR you know how yo headlock him, and it's just a boring 5 minutes of locking this bastard to death, and it's not even satisfying because Kushala is the easiest headlock chain in the game by far.

I picked up World recently and just fought this guy for the first time. I kinda already knew a lot about him from Stories 2, so I knew to attack the spines when they're white. But I very quickly realized that is much easier said than done. I've fought a lot of different Elder Dragons, but it's a really unique experience fighting one that tries to literally punch you into the dirt. There is something refreshing about fighting a hangry porcupine whose weapon of choice is just its entire body.
One time Nergigante did the mega spikey slam while I was cornered with almost no health, and my vitality mantle recharged just before the slam happened so I swapped to it and used it just in time to soak the damage while this was playing.
First faint: Either Rathalos because of Rathian or Diablos because of the dumb charge First wall: Angie/ Diablos First (and only) 12 fails: Nergi (which caused me to fail HR Tobi like 3 times and one was a Deviljho throwing it onto me, killing both.( I was on my last cart))
So I may have broken Nergigante this morning. I was trying to fight a Lunastra when Nergigante visited and did Nergigante things. After luring the Lunastra away and making sure Nergigante was nowhere near me, I resumed the fight. For some reason, Nergigante was still agro’d from across the map because for the next minute the beginning of its theme played on loop. I can’t tell if it was hungry or if it just wanted attention.
Nergigante and Xenojiva were my favorite Elder dragons of base mhw. Legit Nergigante was the one fight in this game that felt hard but I couldnt get mad cause I was so terrified

Base nergigante is one of the best designed fights in mhw imo. There's no gimmicks, no monsters to third party you to death, it's just you and nergigante. All you need to win is your knowledge of the games mechanics and to do more damage than he does. Simple as that.
True. I am a newbie hunter myself, after I beat him in story, I tried to train with him and man that was a struggle. Then I realized after a few smacking he falls the quickest although when last I train solo (with so many fails mind you), I didn't broke any parts.
His weapon makes the other Elder dragon fights less difficult, but still challenging And grinding this big guy with his weapon is a bit easier than Kadachi Pillar that i used prior to getting Negral Reaper
The first wall I've encountered in this game. His hitboxes and relentless aggression was too much for aggressive fighting style back then. Never found the likes of Teosta, Kushala and Vaal as hard as this guy.
My hunter and Nergigante are like the Gol D. Roger and Whitebeard of Monster Hunter. They don't fight each other for personal gain, hatred, or anything like that. They're rivals and live to fight each other.

Me and my foe clashed for hours exchanging blows, my gear was worn down, my weapon needed repairs. I had damaged him enough to send him back to his lair, I followed him, set off explosives breaking his horns, he rushed me but I moved quickly slamming my axe into his stomach before slamming more into his head, breaking his jaw. He hit me with his tail, knocking me to the ground, I got up and was launched even further away from him, He fell asleep again. I attacked him again and again, blood was flying into the cracks in my helmet, spikes littered my body, making me bleed all over. I disengaged, drank the last of my potion, and stared him down, we locked eyes, he rushed me and I rushed him, my blade ripped through his body sending spikes flying, he stood for a moment, but fell. I got up stared at him until he breathed his death rattle. I stood victorious above him, but I bowed out of respect, for he had been a worthy foe, an amazing hunt truly a fantastic creature.
I insect glaive diving attack slayed it my first time as the brass hit and it was glorious, the whole fight I was able to give him the 5 ds of dodgeball and hop and zip attack his wings
The most iconic theme for me in the game. Every time I see an sos on him I jump in. It just makes me feel so powerful to smack him in the face with a great sword.
I don't think it's on purpose but I think this theme fits the fight perfectly. It's wild, stressful and you dont really know what's going on and then there's this one Powerful part at 0:16 kind of like his one shot attack.

@@ckay8145 of course they know the gameplay. Listen to any of the large monster area battle themes(maybe rotten vale or wild spire waste, as that’s where it shows the most), it’s clear that the music team was given the concept of the part where the theme plays so they can make the song fit well.

Nergigante was Actually really easy and this theme didn't really stuck with me because of normal Nergigante Just not being that much of a threat to me personally, then ruiner Nergigante showed up before shara ishvalda and I have never been more scared of something in my life ever holy shit what a great fight, this theme really captures the feeling of an absolute unit going hand to hand against you
