I always liked that the movie also gives us an answer to "If Speed could always drive the Mach 6 like that, why didn't he before?" by showing how wrecked the entire car was at the end.
And that was just driving the car like that Hal the race I believe so if he drove like that the full race there would be shit missing for sure lol

mach6 was already pretty roughed by the guy using the spearhook on him and bashing him around with it. also it got that bad because he had to go extremely more agressive because they were all on a manhunt on him because the main villain bribed them to do so before the race started. most notably against the 2 racers in the lead were 2 other grunts from the main villain that on a previous race cooped to take him down (also with spearhooks, ilegal tech) so he needed to take them both down.
also i like to think that, by the time he was near the end the brakes were completely busted and he needed that last absurd stunt to reach first place and not crash into a wall or something.
So like how nascar cars have those shitty fucking limiter plates on the engines?
@@alwest4472 There is also the fact that just by accelerating a unlimited Nascar would fuck up the engine. Honestly, any car would.

1.) No background interruptions
2.) music syncs up better
the second point I agree with but now i feel something is again missing, we need a remastert wersion of the original with better timing and mixing🤔
I prefer the original one because
1.) It brings stronger emotions
2.) Initial D musics make it slower and don't fits at all
Probably had to be changed for copyright reasons

@@-mixu- stop summarizing eurobeat as "Initial D", the manga/anime is cool as hell, but the style is unique at it's own, the creators such as Dave Rodgers, Ken Blast, Dream Fighters, Ace, etc. deserve some recognition! (sorry if i look like a mad gremlin, i just really want people to give those amazing composers a little more love, ya know?)
The cars are so ridiculously capable that it becomes entirely about the ability of the racer. These people have visuospatial processing that would make The Flash feel a little sluggish, sheesh.
no the flash could still run quicker but these guys are on the same level of intermittently accessing the speed force.
@@neotsz3286 hey weirdo you do realise the speed force requires speed by velocity and mental speed to even be capable of using it and these guys are going fast enough to intermittently access the speed force of speed racer there at one point was a crossover comic specifically saying that the speed racer tournament is barely able to sustain going into the speed force at the vehicles mass and velocity and the precognitive abilities of natural racers.

The writing may be subpar in this film, but the visual storytelling and movement is extraordinary everything is colorful and full of life when it needs to be and everything is constantly moving. Such an underrated film.
I don't even think the writing was that bad. They had to keep it a kids film, so certain situations were watered down, but they absolutely pushed the limits on that PG rating for sure. I love the whole corporate greed vs family business aspect and then also just the pure bliss that was the cinematography.
The animation is godly on this movie, its so colourfull compare to what we get to todays movie
@@tjbernahl3596 most of it is pretty good. The family dynamic between speed pops and mom is great. Same with Rex, what brings the writing down to subpar for me is the handling of Sprital and Chim Chim. Most scenes with them grind the film to a halt and when I think of the worst moments in the film, every one of them involves those two. I'm certainly not going to say I could do many better considering the circumstances. They had to be there to keep in continuity with the original series and to make sure it was a kid oriented film for Warner Bros not to mention they were the main reason the film got away with a PG rating.
How can you say the movie that gave us "more like Nonjas" had subpar writing?
@@UnkillableMrStake I agree with you that those scenes brought the film down but I don't think it's fair to hold them against it and call it the entire writing of the film "subpar". It's a kids movie, it's amazing for what it is. I think you'd be very hard pressed to find something in a similar vein (Kids action movie about racing) that's as good. If not better.
Honestly, the best live action adoption of an Anime IP.
People try too hard to make it realistic instead of going the uthey way. Anime defies logic and physics, that's what makes them good

I like how they characterize the father that even though he's not the hot shot he's more knowledgeable, even over the protag.

Not top tier, but definitely fun and above average, not garbage like some claim. I'd say a 6.5-7/10 if Shawshank is 10 and Eternals is 5-6.

@@grantpalmer8818 Speed Racer wasn't THAT successful. There was supposed to be a sequel or rather a prequel to Speed Racer called "Racer X", but it never happened. Still, compared to other Live-Action Anime Movies to come from Hollywood. Speed Racer was at least semi-faithful to the anime and manga...though Speed Racer was WAY more violent in the anime/manga. Still, it had the campiness that seems to be shunned by Hollywood. Even back in 2008.

The movie was so underrated for its time it sucks that people just now realize it’s great since I was 1-2 yrs old I loved this movie and recently refound why I loved this movie
I still believe that it's because people forgot just how crazy old school anime like Speed Racer really was.
I saw it in the cinema and now it's my favourite sunday afternoon film, SO.....MUCH......COLOUR!!!!!

When I saw it when it came out; I was like 17? I immediately knew it was awesome and loved it from the jump. It was SUCH a good adaptation of the series. OMG; just sooo nice. Glad to own a DVD of it.
This was my favorite movie when I was little
I was 12 when this came out and from what I remember it's release was heavily overshadowed by the animated movie "Wall-E" which came out I believe just a short while after this sucks cause personally I didn't like that movie but I loved speed racer.
The top fits super well, but I can't help but think gas gas gas would also slap

Tbh kinda glad they didn’t, since it would probably end up being one of those sequels that end up in garbage and also that’s why they didn’t have it for x racer/rex to reveal his identity
Now, let's just imagine if they took that awful Disney show or whatever it was in the early 2010s and turn it into a live-action, speeds kids unknowingly pushing each other to new heights. I remember nothing from that show except that and digging the Mach 5 out of a junkyard

I remember the DS game so vaguely that this made me tear up because i played one last race winning from a now diseased friend for the first time. He died by kidney failure four days later in hospital. It may sound sad but it's the best memory i have from the 2010'ns.

People don’t realize it now but visually this movie was extremely ahead of its time. It’s a shame that this movie came out during the “Piss filter” era of needlessly realistic games and movies, I feel like if this came out today more people would appreciate it.

this is about the very end, climax of the movie, but the whole thing is filled with incredible colors and amazing wacky editing (imo). definitely and underrated one if you're a fan of absurd amount of color
while it it true that the middle is a bit too long and frankly cheesy, the whole movie is extremely underrated. Def watch it.

A lot of the non-racing segments of it made me cringe back then and even now they still make me do so. I do think that films like this have a unique "flavor", though, which makes them pretty memorable.
