You're a brave man, DD. Construction locks on the front door...you get stuck in that elevator, you might be there for a few days. Really nice old elevator, tho. Glad you found it :-)
The motor sounds like a Westinghouse, and the fixtures look somewhat like Westinghouse black button... My best guess would be a vintage Westinghouse, most likely from before the 50's
Thats an awesome elevator....from what i can tell this design doesn't use a door locking interlock. it had a door switch on the side of the cab and the door is locked by the connecting arm when it straightens out. Ive only seen that design once before.
I would think it was a coincidence that the hall lights went off due to lack of movement vs pushing the button for the elevator because - as dark as the hall is already - it would be even darker at night. Until those lights came on automatically, I thought the building may have been vacant and being made ready to be either renovated or demolished. This would have made for a great elevator duel. When I was 12 years old, I rode an older elevator similar to this one except for the windowed doors and I turned off the light as the door was closing and it reopened. This happened twice. I switched the light back on and pressed the button and the elevator closed and went up. Perhaps it's designed to shut off when the lights are off. I didn't try turning off the light while in motion but I wonder if it would continue to the floor it was traveling to and then either "park" and not be summonable, or if it would return to the main floor and then "park".
Go to Chicago IL to Polk Street Near the Pink Line Train station and go to the Union Health Service Medical Center Building and there is a Vintage Otis Elevator
Andrew come visit Anaheim CA we have awesome old lexan and touch sensitive buttons in our buildings. We are home to the most favorite elevator, tower of terror
Love the sound of the motor winding down to level
Diesel Duecy, that elevator is such a classic! Hearing the auto lift sound was pure gold!
This is how elevators should still be built!!! Built to last like a 100 years!!!
Jackson Slaters Uplifting Experiences. yes they must be.
Epic motor! 😸
That's really cool how you can see where you're going through the little windows!! Awesome!!
I have a strong suspicion that this is either a Monarch or a Salem.
I’m thinking monarch. Would love to get in the machine room.
@@DieselDucyI hope at some point the owner of this building fixes this elevator.
I like how when they automated the doors they kept the handles on it and they dont have the safety sensors exposed they kept it clean looking
Haha the mailman is famous! And what a great find!

I even heard the sounds of the relays clicking in the machine room I think that added quite a nice vibe to it
I love this elevator.
I'm glad this is still original.

Sadly this runs no more
@@DieselDucyOh no! Was it condemned?!
Wow EPIC AND NICE MOTOR
that was AWESOME!!!!!! great Elevator
This elevator runs too good to be a Westinghouse, and I think they would leave their stamp on it. I rode it and loved it.
looks like otis judging by the operating panel. there is a vintage Otis by me with the same panel but it is gated manual control
Nice elevator and motor
That motor is epic!
Payne used those same fixtures.
There’s an old elevator similar to that in a drugstore in Wytheville Virginia
I think I rode it.
@@DieselDucy Well I miss spoke it’s actually in a drug testing area
The drugstore that was once there is now gone
Very Cool elevator!
EPIC MOTOR y'all
The newly restored Pioneer Bldg. in dntwn. St. Paul has 3 FAST manually controlled Haughtons. The door on this one looks similar to those.
mailman thought you were a freak lol
Cool to find!
Epic Motor Wednesday! VINTAGE Hunter-Hayes Traction Elevator @ the 320 Gold SW Parking Garage
That’s awesome!
The elevator looks like an Otis.
I think it's a Salem
Well..... if you look at the fixtures, you'll know that it is an otis from the 1920s dieselducy did one just like this at the Guggenheimer hospital
do you think this may be a CJ Anderson?
I use your style how you hold the camera in videos including my phones
Thanks
Go to Chicago IL to Polk Street Near the Pink Line Train station and go to the Union Health Service Medical Center Building and there is a Vintage Otis Elevator
It Looks So Diffrent Why Is That And What Happned To That Other Broken Elevator??
Is it the same building that was closed in the Epic Fail video ?
The outside call buttons look really similar to your famus A B SEE button that you have
I believe these are Payne.
What's the address of of this place.
The address of this building is 416 East Main St.
Thank you, Aaron.
Elevator door doesn't have an arm, it's called a spring loaded door
Good Motor
Let's hope it doesn't get modernized!
there probably was an Otis globe before they put that epco door open button
0:51 epic win
Power gets cut to the elevator if it the door opens ive done that before
Nice!
I'll bet it's an Otis.
It could be a Salem.
This elevator is a old monarch
It was. It is not running now
@@DieselDucyWhy? What happened? Did it get condemned?

Which company does this elevator belong to?
I think it's a Salem.
When was this installed?
Not sure
Im guessing Salem cuz of the buttons
3:05 What happened to the lights?
it was an auto light sensor.
dover mpe?
Why?
hey andrew. is this a bottom drive?
No.
It's a top drive as he spotted this elevator courtesy of the winch room above it where the motor is housed
