Because tuition covers less than half of college expenses and because federal and state funds are declining, colleges need alumni donations more than ever. Rejecting legacies and producing a lousy football team is no way to reinforce loyalty and release the purse strings of the alumni.

Yes, quite true, but who's heard of Theos, especially in the USA? This channel is a quiet little, barely visible corner of YT, whereas the people you cite are all well-known celebrities in the field if public rancour and argument. It's the same with anything that is sober and serious on YT. It just doesn't get a look-in. When I first discovered YT I thought what a wonderful opening it was going to be for thoughtful, less obviously visible points of view. But in fact sober, serious, and important insights just get swept aside into the gutter as the whirlwind of trash roars by, drowning out serious thought. So much for the market-place of ideas! (Which is related to the philosophy of meritocracy, by the way,!)
