I always loved the clacking of a idle 6.2L in these.I had a HMMWV and CUCV,one of the best trucks and great daily drivers I have owned. For the most part, they actually were even beyond fantastic, they were reliable as they should be.
That's awesome. I love that speaker box! I can't wait till it warms up so I can work on mine. I just bought a 2000 M998 from a dealer who got it at an auction. It was a police swat team vehicle so they painted it all black and the soft doors white. I think I'm gonna go with green like that. That looks good 👍. Great video. 👍
Quick questions answered. 1. It came off Fort Campbell 8 months ago. Home of the 101st Airborne. 2. It is not for sale. 3. As has been pointed out the throttle lock is not meant for a cruise control. 4. M998, I may have said M988 in the video. Thanks for looking.
I literally would drive through the town all day long, listening to that Music just with a Military helmet on with Malboros in it even tho I dont smoke lol
A M I have a 85' m998 2 door and it's a great daily driver. She's big, slow, loud, hot and has a rough ride when not loaded, but she is a great truck. I love her. She did take some getting used to, though. And I've been getting 19-25 mpg consistently, so she is my most fuel efficient and reliable truck.
Awesome!!! I bought 3 of them for a total of around $20.000 , One 4 man crew and 2, 2 man troop carrier, All top running condition, Gotta love em, So much fun to drive, The heater works great but no A/C you can get overheated in the summer. P.S . Like the ammo can speaker, Thumbs up,
HMMWV does not have cruise control that is the fast idle throttle cable for cold weather starting not to be used on the road as a cruise control that’s One of the first thing they teach you when you are tasked with operating one of these types of vehicles if anyone here is looking for operation and maintenance of one of these vehicles I recommend watching one of the military videos on operations because there are people out there that can give you misinformation that can get you hurt or killed we don’t want that. As with any piece of equipment there’s proper operation and handling of such. 😎
I came over from Mark Dice on Newsweek and fake news this morning. I subscribed to your channel just because, will among other things, I know my way around a firearm and will diesel auto as well!
Looks great! You got a clean one! What is the fitting sticking out of the left side of the engine shroud plastic at 5:19? Oh... and tighten your alternator, bro!
That is a spout for engine oil to collect samples to see if the oil is contaminated by other fluids or metal shaving etc. It helps identify possible problems with the engine
It depends. The 6.2L in the M998 could do 16-17 MPG easily. It depends on weight and gear ratio too.The same engine was used in the Chevrolet M1008-M1031,in the M1009 they could do 18-20 MPG,and then the others could do 21-24 MPG.
I usually sell extremely odd(IE we don't know the value) items or cloeouts on gunbroker. There's nothing currently on there right now. www.themosincrate.com gets all the items. Thanks!
Thanks for watching/commenting. I'd imagine it would be higher than 30 inches as the snorkel is the deep water fording and that sits on the hood? I may grab one of those taller snorkels that you're mentioning. Have seen them but have yet to want to or have to cross a river up here ha.
The Mosin Crate you need the whole deep water fording kit it has the taller snorkel/ exhaust but also has a valve that takes the EGR gases and Pressurizes the crankcase and other things you don’t want water getting in. You can find new kits online and sometimes on eBay. They are around $1500
Iron Sights go to govplanet.com. You'll see the price ranges. I got mine for $4125, out the door, running with an on-road title. She was worth every penny.
Are these legal on the street? Not accusing you of breaking the law or anything, I just thought I read that the military humvees were sold as an off-road only vehicle.
in some states its easier/possible to get them titled for on road use, usually the liberal leaning states are more reluctant to title it due to emissions and such (california lol) while down south whoever's serving you at the DMV will probably give you a compliment.
@@tornexted5029 Wrong HMMWV buddy, the M998 (One in this video) only had the N/A 6.2L just like the M1008-M1031 CUCV.The M1025-M1046 HMMWV and M1113-M1167 ECV/HMMWV do have the 6.5L how ever.In the M1025-M1046,the 6.5L is N/A and then the M1113-M1167 have a T/C 6.5L.The 6.5L was also used in the CUCV ll.

I heard the Prius is very soothing with no motion sickness issues.

Emissions? It has a 6.5l diesel engine, one of the cleanest diesels out there without any emissions reduction equipment on it.
tell that to the californian dmv :P
Yes, you could have them street legalized but it will be a pain Other than that the process is easy
