Wow, I never thought I’d have the confidence to do this. But I think I’ll do it now as I just got to 4,000 on my 23 XR. What is that luggage rack??????? I’ve been looking for a good one that doesn’t look like crap, and that one looks great!
Hey, I'm glad they are helpful! And thanks for leaving a comment and letting me know that you're able to perform maintenance successfully. Riding a bike that is personally worked on is SUCH a good feeling. Take it easy and enjoy the ride.
Great video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. One question, should the engine be in gear or in neutral at the beginning of the process or does it not matter?
The service manual does not specify whether the engine should be in gear or not. This video was filmed with the bike in neutral. I wanted to turn the crankshaft without turning the rear wheel. I suppose it can be done while in gear, but any rear wheel rotation would change timing mark alignment on the flywheel. I greatly appreciate your nice feedback. Good luck adjusting your valves and take it easy.
Very good video. Watched a bunch of these. Actually showing where it’s measured, the adjustment window in green

Great video thinking of getting a XR650L !
@mt1885 thank you! Would you primarily ride on or offroad with your XR? What are you currently riding?
@@XRLand Motocross bikes and got some DRZ/DR650 bikes. Prefer to stick with a carb not a fan of high tech on bikes.
@mt1885 Motocross bikes are such wild animals. Good luck making a decision on your next garage addition. 😁
Dude, thank you for your videos. I'm a total mechanical retard and I've used several of your tutorials to do maintenance on my bike without trouble.
