Gotta admit… I was just as excited as you when the turquoise Bud lit up. What a wonderful time., When artistry and fabrication met. Thanks for sharing.

it is amazing! definite proof that neon can stand the test of time. try that with LEDs (or any modern technology) in 50 years and see how they hold up... 😆

That was my family’s bar, I was the one that sold that. When the guy that bought it from us, the neon was in tact. Sad to see that happened. I’d really like to see how it turns out, please do post a finished video!

yeah, i was disappointed about the glass, it seems he was pretty rough with it. but luckily it can be remade! was i right about the lower "BAR" portion, did the neon tubes glow orange?
i believe that neon signs are meant to be seen, so i like to share these videos with everyone. i will post updates as i go along! cheers! :)

I do remember the OPEN part flashing in the 80s and maybe early 90s. I think it quit working (flashing) around '92 or '93. Great to see that turquoise! I remember that clearly now.

that's awesome. i don't ever recall seeing it lit, and if it stopped working back in '92 or '93, that would explain why!

I remember seeing a lot of neon signs back in the 70s and 80s. There's a bakery in Long Beach with a survivor neon sign.
I loved seeing a portion of it show life!

it is a shame so many neon signs have been removed and scrapped over the years. the survivors need to be preserved for posterity!

Watching the video yes I smiled to see it work as well...it is awesome. We bought a bar with a old neon and incandesent lights (35 lights) The light was not used for 40 years or so i am guessing. We got the 35 lights to work and flash (flasher is a Signatrol Model 30-44) But the large gear broke in half after a little usage. We did find the gear tho. So just ordered it. Your videos are great !!! Subscribed !!!

glad to hear you are repairing the old sign! mechanical flashers are well built and can run for many years; but like anything, eventually parts will wear out... but replace them and you're up and running again!

ive gotten them from various sources: craigslist, FB marketplace, auction... this particular sign i got from an unsolicited message because the seller had heard i buy signs.
