What a lovely man. What a loss. RIP Shane and indeed to your Dad Eamonn who passed several years before you. Two great Irish men; Dublin men, historians and story tellers. Their likes will not be around this way again. Great tour. Thank you Shane - 🙏🙏😪
Very sorry to hear of the passing last night of Shane. Living abroad we have not been in touch for two decades, but as youths we conquered London and were inseparable comrades setting out in life together. Memories of such a great, interesting, personable and engaging individual shall never diminish. Was so glad to see him doing well of late that this early demise is really a great tragedy. There are so few like him out there these days. Rest in Peace. Jody
Glasnevin and Kilmainham jail are by far the most fascinating places to visit in Dublin. One million Dubliners features Shane and it was the best documentary I have ever watched ( many times in fact). RIP Shane you are with God now and resting in the place you loved, you left a superb legacy. ❤

Watching Shane sends a shiver down my spine. So, so ineffably tragic. If anybody has not seen One Million Dubliners, please make a point of doing so. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
Nice little documentary, have always been wanting to visit but have yet to find the time when in Dublin.sorry to hear about the passing of Shane. Rip.One small little nitpick though, being from the same area as Michael Collins myself beal na blath isn't a mile away from where he was born it's more like 20 miles
RIP Shane....What I don't understand is if the led lined coffins preserve human remains because no Air can get in how can diseases or bacteria survive inside these coffins without oxygen..
Went to school with Shane we did not always get on he was an angry bunny,But very sad to hear another old mate has died can anyone tell me how he died??

Good video. It taught me quite a few things I didn't know. So the stairs inside the O'Connell tower were never replaced?
The stairs have now been restored. I have been up them to the top of the O'Connell tower.
@@WildOwlFilms Oh that's good. Next time I go there I will have a look.

Anaerobic bacteria will survive, & some air is sealed in initially.

Apparently he committed suicide in the cemetery. Watch one million Dubliners.
