I loved this band in the early 80s they were one of the bands that shaped my musical taste . I used to dj in backward pubs at the same time backward pubs in backward towns . Playing things like severed heads. Cabaret Voltaire. My life in the bush of ghosts.by Eno and Byrne. Pakistani quaalli music. Kraftwerk etc

He's so humble about what he did and how he did it. I had the Korg PolySix, a 3 track reel to reel, electric guitar and all, and could never come close to what Tom and his mates we're doing. Even if I got close by luck of over dubs and accidental luck in the recordings, how the hell could I go live with that? Tom's just so focused with direct intent, yet so bashful and almost apologetic for it all. His way IS the highway for so many of us. He laid the ground work long before Atari and Windows Movie Maker and Flash and VST's gave us all the ease to do it on our laptops to and from our day jobs. And he STILL makes it look so easy!

DungeonStudio agreed, art of noise and depeche mode changed me. Now this imagery interests me, about dune. About hamilton and franklin, reason 10 is very promising. Eraserhead hates me.

thanks for this. great upload. Severed Heads were a bit before my time, I was more the 90s but I'm 46 now and fuckin' love them. Better late than never. 'The drum machine was the only musician in the band'.....A golden fucking diamond legend. xo

Oh he's disingenuous about the industrial thing. It's always very cool to claim you are not the subculture you are part of.
Their esthetic was always in line with industrial. Tom collaborated with Skinny Puppy and it wound up on one of their albums.
Skinny Puppy and Severed Heads toured together.
They had the classic knife shirt, which could only be more industrial is there was nudity.
Sisters of Mercy like to say they aren't goth as well.

They're talking about their formation in the late 70s, NOT their influence within the scene, as you can clearly hear Tom describe at 0:30 of the timecode their growing awareness -to- that scene as they were also-just- starting and then later go into depth with HOW involved they were with industrial. They're not "denying" being part of it, they're admitting they weren't aware WHILE it started, dig?
