Having drums and lyrics is not a problem from a sampling perspective. Most of the time you are pulling from an opening, a closing or from a drum break in the middle of the song.
I wanted to skip ahead and listen to the finished product so bad, but I'm madly in love with the process of how he's creating this beat. Erik's definitely becoming one of my favorite producers for sure, good shit bro!
Just found this Rhythm Roulette series today. Love when their heads just start bouncing because they know they have something. Awesome concept and introducing to so many new artists.
diamond d, muggs, necro, alchemist, marley marl, teddy riley, jermaine dupri ...I would like to see you guys do episodes with those legendary producers.
I've sampled that Jackson 5 record myself in the past. I'm SHOCKED that's all he pulled from that record. It has LOTS of dope moments he could've sampled.
Erick's got a copy of "Be Here Now" by Ram Dass behind the spiderman bobblehead in the clip starting at 4:14, if any of you guys reading this are psych-heads you definitely need to add that book to your collection of trip-items to keep nearby, I swear it has the secrets of the universe within it, I'm really not surprised the Zombies have a copy!! Too real
they need to start picking stuff from $1 bins and stop being able to go straight to a certain section, THEN putting on the blindfold. Put the blindfold on, then go pick random records from different sections. Dudes are scared of picking up stuff they can't fuck with it, so they go straight to a section where they pick up classic records to make beats from. That's whack
Perfect comment. This is true. There needs to be more of a diversity in the genres selected. Rhythm Roulette would then become more interesting for viewers tbh
With Erick saying that both the records and the cables being messed up, he basically told y'all that it didn't sound as good as he wanted it to. He's a good producer that was met with a few technical difficulties and worked well (in my opinion) with what he was given.
can someone explain to me or give me a link on how to grab a noise from a song without all the other noises. example: like if I were to take a piano, horns, synthetic or something but just that noise
you should just find a part that has just what you want. i think thats what everyone does. if you try painstakingly isolating everything it sounds like ass
9th Wonder set the bar so high. He is making it hard for anybody's Rhythm Roulette sound even decent. Every time I watch a new one I gotta go back to his to cleanse my mind
that amnesty record is a now and again/STONES THROW joint, so its a reissue and he BARLEY got through the 1st song lol...but ah well...and I figured he would go back to that jackson 5 joint...alot of dope vocal stabs he could grabbed from that too...but ehh...producers like this are better off NOT sampling imo, but still dope to watch...
+Prince Mowe youre wildly mediocre...what alot of you seem to misunderstand is that they use what they have. the fact that they can even make something thats listenable is good enough. like who the fuck are you hahaha i dare you to make something better with the same records
AND I JUST MIGHT JUST LOVE SOMEBODY AND I JUST MIGHT JUST.... Am I the only one who recognized that same sample, but used nearly 20 years ago? #LucyFord
He did did the same thing i would have done. As soon as i heard that first piano as soon as he laid the needle on the mike record. That was it. Banger material.
All 3 records that he picked were the first one's in their respective row. All of them are incredibly popular artists that are sample friendly, and he STILL produced some wack shit against all odds.
The beat is decent IMO but compared to what Black Milk and Marco Polo did with garbage records it's not impressive. I still think Rhythm Roulette should be with strictly dollarbin records. Looping stuff from the soul section, no real challenge in that...
Thank you for getting Eric. Heres who gotta be next: -Alchemist -Madlib -Pete Rock -9th Wonder (again) -Rza -Kanye (very unlikely but ya never know) -DJ Premier (he doesnt do stuff like this but maybe Nas can work something out w his old friend) -Q tip -Timbaland -Pharrell -Havoc -Dr Dre (also very unlikely but...) -Earl sweatshirt (might be dope) -Mannie Fresh and Just Blaze (again...the sprite thing was not good for them) I think it might also be very interesting to see a notable trap producer and see if they can do something. Like imagine if Metro Boomin did this...idk if he could do it but I think it would be interesting.
They don't clash at all. There are some blue notes in there (aka not diatonic) but its not like theres a major 3rd playing over a minor chord or anything like that. Also some digital distortion from his cables being screwed up
This man doesn't get enough credit for the work he puts in on those beats
W
+AsylumBeats one of my favorite producers by far
W
+AsylumBeats his work on Clockwork Indigo is my favorite.
+AsylumBeats his style reminds me of Carter 2 beats but with more of an eerie vibe.
erick is so underated seriously
for real. I think he is one of the best producers out now.
thanks :DDD
Fbz underrated in general
This gotta be the guy behind the new crypto token called MoonCorgi
Yea like he can produce like crazy Nd Fkn rap so nice
I love how Meech just chilling enjoying the art being made it's great
hes writing a verse i think
Erick Arc = one of the best producers
Meech = one of the best lyricists
juice = one of the best flows in the game
Juice is ass
+michael coughlin nah meech is ass
+RainDropVid Man Darko goes hard on 'This Is It,' Juice is probably the weakest link.
not even close
i was just talking shit lol i think they both good imo.
The beat he created suited his style well, already could hear darko on the track lol
Ifkr😭they should make a song off it. Juice would go hard as fuck on it.
Lol he just sitting on his phone in the back and looking at the records
pretty late, but imagine meech not doing the dark shit, just his normal voice on the piano part. that would be so sick
I'm a huge Flatbush fan. I think Erick is a genius
I'm with you there
it's a fact not a thought
Damn he got the record with the “lift yourself” sample
*shot of burning joint exactly at **4:20*
MassAppeal, you sly dogs

Trying to get you back.
His face looks like a young snoop dogg
I know right? I was hoping someone noticed.
lmao
I swear I was the only one
No disrespeck, but you one hunnit percent wrong.
He's the goddamn spitting image of that muh fucka, David Edwards. Real World, Season 2, haha.
He dont look nuthin like snoop tf?? Lmao, he look like the hommie tho.
He look like Snoop Dogg and Andre 3000 had a love child lmao

+getbakedtonight what makes you say that? Lol
+JoeyJesus the guy is a dummy he asked on twitter what a 320 mp3 is..
who gives a shit what he tweeted hes a musical genius
he cant do shit without imogen heap samples
This may be the best 3 records I have ever seen someone pick fro pure samplability.
Having drums and lyrics is not a problem from a sampling perspective. Most of the time you are pulling from an opening, a closing or from a drum break in the middle of the song.
I also had this thought
erick's got fire taste in literally everything from his clothes to his music
I've been waiting for this one. Had to put my headphones on for this. To hear each sound clearly.
Diggin that Gorillaz shirt Erick is weraring
hell yea
The mint in box action figures too
thats some real "stylo" if yknow what i mean. lool
they pricy as fuck too, lucky he got some
TheBlackMoose Cuz there's no substituuuuute
I wanted to skip ahead and listen to the finished product so bad, but I'm madly in love with the process of how he's creating this beat. Erik's definitely becoming one of my favorite producers for sure, good shit bro!
Just found this Rhythm Roulette series today. Love when their heads just start bouncing because they know they have something. Awesome concept and introducing to so many new artists.
Man this guy is so talented it's unreal
Imagine if 9th wonder would have had the same selection as him. 🔥
+Christian Chaires exactly
yikes
Thats gold right there, not saying Erick is a bad producer but this fits 9th more than Erick
+Christian Chaires Imagine if Erick didn't have shit cables lmao
+Christian Chaires I like what he did, but you're 9th would've killed those joints.
Their album is one of 2016 best already.
W
it'll probably top 5 this year
W
+Ganghis Khan Don't push it, it was above average at best.
its probably wont be the best but defiantly top 5
Architect dope as fck for putting that together like that
Dan the Automator needs to be here.
THIS!
+bklyncrook we need madlib.....
+Ya Schillin Now we talkin. With some Gangsta Gibbs on the side.? Wooooowwwweeeeeee!!!
+Tony Lopez I can hear Gibbs going in on this. This would definitely be a great Gibbs song than it would be a feature
agreed
the amount of requests this had.. big ups to massappeal and Erick for getting this one out! #inspired
NEVER THOUGHT I'D LIVE TO SEE THE DAY
Dope...the beat is smokin music....
Holy shit, that Amnesty album is the same one Kanye sampled for Lift Yourself.
Yeah the track is Liberty and it's actually fire
"We Have Love" was sampled for Jay-Z's "F.U.T.W." and "OG" by Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg.
starting a gofund for his cables.
I WAITED FOR THIS DAY FOR SO LONG
Id say he is genuinely top 5 producers in regards to rap beats atm - so much depth soul and can make anything sound amazing!
That was Jackpot of picks. Marvin,Diana and Mike.
I NEVER THOUGHT THIS DAY WOULD COME. THANK YOU MASS APPEAL, THANK YOU ERICK
diamond d, muggs, necro, alchemist, marley marl, teddy riley, jermaine dupri ...I would like to see you guys do episodes with those legendary producers.
hell yeah teddy riley
+henney_dykstra I second diamond d, for sure. same with Alc.
And DJ Premier!
That last album was my fav as a very little kid! Takes me so far back!
QueMusiQ what was it??? I need to know
Tony z. Jackson 5-Dancing machine
Those Gorillaz figures though
I've sampled that Jackson 5 record myself in the past. I'm SHOCKED that's all he pulled from that record. It has LOTS of dope moments he could've sampled.
Atmosphere did that first sample in "Between The Lines"
Erick's got a copy of "Be Here Now" by Ram Dass behind the spiderman bobblehead in the clip starting at 4:14, if any of you guys reading this are psych-heads you definitely need to add that book to your collection of trip-items to keep nearby, I swear it has the secrets of the universe within it, I'm really not surprised the Zombies have a copy!! Too real
Hold up.
Is that a Vacation in Hell ashtray?
If so, two damn years in the future. sheesh
one of the most underrated producers yet, period.
zombie gangggg
they need to start picking stuff from $1 bins and stop being able to go straight to a certain section, THEN putting on the blindfold.
+Donnie Budd$ if you mean the producers themselves then I get your point, but if you mean the records they choose then what are you talking about?
I agree. the only thing they sample is old R and B and soul.
Pretty sure Mac did that
You'd probably do the same
What's the feature he's using at 4:57 - like prerecorded hi-hat patterns on the top? He's working on Maschine, right?
Eh mass appeal, can we see knxwledge on a rhythm roulette?
Knxwledge said on his Twitter that he won't do a rhythm roulette
why?
+baekho10 he didn't say why but he made himself completely clear. Lol.
He clearly dont want people biting on his process
Jack Matthews He doesn't want to.
so dope how he uses the keys and his sampling is crazy
meech chillin in the back
FINALLY THIS HAS BEEN TOP REQUEST FOT THE LONGEST
Best producer of the past decade
So glad to see you guys have this session with Erick!
What the fuck. So underrated.
I have been waiting for this for so long
OMG THEY MADE ONE WITH ERICK YES
With Erick saying that both the records and the cables being messed up, he basically told y'all that it didn't sound as good as he wanted it to. He's a good producer that was met with a few technical difficulties and worked well (in my opinion) with what he was given.
thank you! like people are completely ignoring that he had to work with what he was able to get
can someone explain to me or give me a link on how to grab a noise from a song without all the other noises. example: like if I were to take a piano, horns, synthetic or something but just that noise
you should just find a part that has just what you want. i think thats what everyone does. if you try painstakingly isolating everything it sounds like ass
Domancio Valdez you have to EQ it or just find a part of a song that has it like the other dude said
thanks guys, I'll see what I can do
9th Wonder set the bar so high. He is making it hard for anybody's Rhythm Roulette sound even decent. Every time I watch a new one I gotta go back to his to cleanse my mind
I’m 2 minutes in and I know this dude got an easy selection
Why do many dislikes. This dude is so underrated. He is one of the best and uses the best
lol at the comments....give half of yall the same records and your wont even reach pass trying to figure out how a record player works
+Kwame Chikuyu FOR REAL THOUGH
fr💀
Most underrated producer in the game! So versatile and spit on his own masterpieces of production
couldn't like it cuz it was at 222 likes
Lol I see what you did there.
Anyone know what he’s using at 5:00?
this is dope asf
man, I have been waiting this for a while!
that amnesty record is a now and again/STONES THROW joint, so its a reissue and he BARLEY got through the 1st song lol...but ah well...and I figured he would go back to that jackson 5 joint...alot of dope vocal stabs he could grabbed from that too...but ehh...producers like this are better off NOT sampling imo, but still dope to watch...
Preach
+puzzle247365 Oh-No
+puzzle247365 you called it bro. this is wildly mediocre, if that.
+puzzle247365 delete your comment. youre embarrassing. if you actually knew what you were talking about youd be on the show instead of him but......
+Prince Mowe youre wildly mediocre...what alot of you seem to misunderstand is that they use what they have. the fact that they can even make something thats listenable is good enough. like who the fuck are you hahaha i dare you to make something better with the same records
the title "Free your mind" pops up, as he inhales...dope cut whomever pieced this together.
Dude dig up a goldmine of samples.
been waiting soooo long for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND I JUST MIGHT JUST LOVE SOMEBODY AND I JUST MIGHT JUST.... Am I the only one who recognized that same sample, but used nearly 20 years ago? #LucyFord
I guess some people just go around on youtube and thumbs down a shit load of videos.. smh This was Dope
6:37 Time of the master piece
whoever pitched this idea for a series is amazing. Rhythm roulette is my shit.
what's that beat at the beginning
Remi DenDrixie it’s a song off of his beat tape Arcstrumentals 1
Soul Glow
Yes!! Zombies. I've been waiting for the Architect to hop on Rhythm Roulette. 👌
we need a kanye and madlib
yess!!
would no more parties in la count? i think so
taquila yang a rythm roulett
e for both of them
daaaaamn yeaah plz!
Ye & madlib? That woulda been cool 8 or 9 years ago. Ye too far gone.
Yes! Just commented last week it would be dope to see Eric Arch!
My favorite part is 4:30 to 5:10 damn that was fucking insane!!
OMG THANK U MASSAPEAL FOR MAKING THIS HAPPEN
omfg finally
He did did the same thing i would have done. As soon as i heard that first piano as soon as he laid the needle on the mike record. That was it. Banger material.
i only wish they had Meech spit a verse
You're My Biggest Inspiration Erick, I'll Never Stop Making Beats. Because Of You, I Know I'll Make It Somehow.
kinda expected more, would have been nice to hear a verse. shouts to KRIT tho
lol okay yall askin for a lot now lmao
facepalm
+ERRoN KiNG rt
this is dope, Arc is the reason i love flatbush so much
No diss.... but he didn't do much with that DOPE-ASS record selection, son. Real talk. What ya'll think?
trueee haha
think about how much time he was given to come up with a mix for an 8 min video, probably not a lot
no he had a problem with the wires so it sounded distorted only one record worked so he had to improvise
+fin lism nope in rhythm roulette you take multiple samples to make the beat
ive been waiting for this for so long yes!
RANDOMBLACKDUDE
+Helga Pavlov Dude are you fucking kidding?
+Yunocchi Ion play games... I play real life
Helga Pavlov I love you
Somebody come get this nigga. G shit. Helga Pavlov
Hes still made it work, i glade i met the Flatbush zombies and TAN Boyz
Come on Eric, bro you had the sickest selection, but the result ???not so great, too bad
Black Milk need to comee= back and do this sh!t again
SHOUTOUTS to mass appeal they've been getting whoever we ask for with a few exceptions
Yooo Erick has fuckin Gorillaz action figures??
Why am I only seeing this in 2024?
you could hear the distortion on the samples.. he had good records to use but the cables sabatoged his session... redo
been waiting so long for this
I love Erick with all my heart but he let me down, the beats on the new album are good but nowhere near as amazing as on better off dead.
D.R.U.G.S. had his best beats on it
+TRUE MCeeeEe The new album had no samples tho
+Melox1R that's because it's sometimes hard to clear samples and they are independent and don't have a label to handle all that shit while they work
+gucci sauce Yea i know, I really liked the production
Melox1R It did have 1 sample for bounce, but yeah maybe that was the problem.
one of the best rhyme roulettes there is in my opinion
get Charles Hamilton on here
legend, him and fbz are so underrated erick deserves so much more recognition
All 3 records that he picked were the first one's in their respective row. All of them are incredibly popular artists that are sample friendly, and he STILL produced some wack shit against all odds.
The beat is decent IMO but compared to what Black Milk and Marco Polo did with garbage records it's not impressive. I still think Rhythm Roulette should be with strictly dollarbin records. Looping stuff from the soul section, no real challenge in that...
Thank you for getting Eric.
Heres who gotta be next:
-Alchemist
-Madlib
-Pete Rock
-9th Wonder (again)
-Rza
-Kanye (very unlikely but ya never know)
-DJ Premier (he doesnt do stuff like this but maybe Nas can work something out w his old friend)
-Q tip
-Timbaland
-Pharrell
-Havoc
-Dr Dre (also very unlikely but...)
-Earl sweatshirt (might be dope)
-Mannie Fresh and Just Blaze (again...the sprite thing was not good for them)
I think it might also be very interesting to see a notable trap producer and see if they can do something. Like imagine if Metro Boomin did this...idk if he could do it but I think it would be interesting.
Ehhhh...the samples clash
where
the entire beat
+slaylawson also meaning you can't pin point exactly where so you disregard this mans piece.. But what do you do ?
They don't clash at all. There are some blue notes in there (aka not diatonic) but its not like theres a major 3rd playing over a minor chord or anything like that. Also some digital distortion from his cables being screwed up
I'm still listening to that Khrysis joint over and over. Best RR in my opinion.
