All good wishes on your marathon tomorrow in Montreal! It has been great to watch your training journey. I predict a 2:31.43, but I do hope that you achieve your sub-2:30 and your keeping well.
Good luck! You are ready because you did your part on training; time goal is just a number, you got this! Time to pick up your medal. See you next year in NYC Wanda Age group championship. 😊
Funny, my Garmin had exactly the same - a huge chunk off all predicted times around a week ago. 1min off 5k, 2 off 10k and 10 minutes off marathon! Good luck with the race, I really hope you achieve sub 2:30 🙂
@@global-runner that's good to know. But, as flattering as they are, for me, the old predictions seemed more accurate. I hope that's not the case for you!
Hey. The "glitch" was that garmin did an update. Mine did the same thing. In the updates it tells that they tried to make the predicted times more accurate.
As a 50+ runner looking to continue my improvements your videos are an insight as to what is possible for older runners. Whatever you're time the process has been a success. Best of luck. 2.33.17
2.29.21 my prediction. Less than 2 days from now! Good luck Mate! Love your positive approach! And take it easy , no stress before race. Im really rooting for you!!!💪
Good luck. If health issues resolved then 2:29:45, if not humidity acclimated or sniffles not gone 2:34:30. In any event, you are an inspiration and thanks for sharing.
Give it your best effort possible and you won't be disappointed with the result. I cant wait to hear about your report from the race. Bonne Chance, mon ami!!! (I'm Irish but I remember a few post card words from french lessons in school :))
It has been great and inspiring to follow your journey. The journey is what really counts, however the race is the icing on the cake! My watch was 100% accurate in predicting my race time, so I have high expectations for you! Just don't start on that 2.22 pace 😆.
Ha ha! Yes I’ll definitely start slower than that. :) Thanks for your comment. I’ve really enjoyed the journey. I’m excited to see what the end of the journey will bring!
Good luck buddy my guess is 2:29:55 it’s been a pleasure watching your series I hope you will continue after this race! Will try to watch the marathon live hopefully on YT. Cheers from Perth
Best of luck mate. I’ve been loving following your journey. As a 45 year old runner aiming for a 3:30 in October I’ve taken loads of good advice from your channel. Really hope you smash it 👏
Right. Negative split all the way is your safest bet. 1st half 1:15:15 2nd half 1:14:15 Don't do any more intervals and take Thursday and Friday full days off if you can.
I’m also a fan of leg shaving pre race! Hope you have a restful remainder of the taper - I think it’s good timing and the body’s way of preparing for what is next, which will be an epic race. A prediction? 2:29:10 - I have full faith. Run strong mate 💪
Rooting for you from Germany - I find it amazing what you do and that you share it with us! From my own experience I know how many things need to come together to make such a daring project a successful one. I wish you the best mental state you ever had, that's the only thing you really need on race day after so much hard work. 2:29:59 is my guess (purely for statistical reasons) but whatever your finish time is - the fastest-lawyer-in-history-record is yours for sure, I'd say ;-) . GOOD LUCK DUNCAN!
@@global-runner 😕I guess not quite what you were hoping for, but still much better than any of us mere mortals here will ever do 😁 Atleast we can look forward for season 2.
Sections from miles 5-9 and 13.5-18 look like a slight uphill drag but last 8 miles is mostly quite nice. Don't start thinking it's over if you get to 18 miles and are slightly outside goal pace, you can still haul some time back. 2.29.49 with a strong effort through the park to finish. Good luck!
Yeah not was really rough for my Sunday evening. Woke up with shivers after a big sweat. Finally feel better yesterday. Luckily able to run this afternoon just came back from osteopath just now. I would be down for a shake out run on Saturday. How long will the shakeout run be?
2h30 is a mental barrier but whatever time you do, it is already a life success,.running that fast ar 50. The prep is done, have the best race you can,.dont think about time and you will smash it
Most of my tapper weeks for Marathons, Halfs and IMs are flu weeks... yep. There is for sure something that the body does not like (i'm 48...). But the races all turn out great. So just relax
Garmin's 20.26 update definitely dropped prediction times. For some of us they are actually realistic now while for others they are now way too optimistic. Let's hope for you it's the former and you just don't know your own strength.
Nice edit. You had some clever shots in there. Gotta' give you credit for putting out good quality content in a short amount of time. Let's say 5:42/mi average pace for a finish of 2:29:20. Prove me right!
Process over results. Best case, you crack 2:30. Worst case, you've put in another solid block to continue to stack towards sub 2:30 and beyond? I'll be racing a half tune up on the same day ahead of Chicago in 3 weeks. While I anxiously await to see if my 8:36min buffer gets me into Boston 2025. Regardless of your results, I appreciate you telling your story, and showing that at 50yr we still have LOTS left in the tank.
Exactly right. What a great comment. I’m definitely fitter than I was last time. So I think the main aim is to take a huge chunk of time off that mark and see what happens. Well said! Good luck in your race and Chicago and with getting into Boston!
I'm going to predict 2:31:32! This should not be considered a downer though - when you crush 2:28:00 next year that will be even better :-) That being said, I'm cheering for you to go sub 2:30! And remember if on a mile you don't go 5:43, then the next mile should just be .... 5:43.
Good luck mate, you’ll go 2.28.54 I think but even if you don’t go sub 2.30, it’s been awesome to watch your journey! 👍💪
Thank you! A few people have said something similar and I really appreciate it.
Good luck buddy, wishing you the best of luck for the race.... I wont predict, I'll let your running do the talking!
Thank you!!! And well said!! :)
LETS GO DUNCAN! Tyson says you're ready to rock and roll! Go get 'em!! - Jess O'Connell
An Olympic endorsement! Love it! (I do everything Tyson says so I’d better rock and roll I guess!)

Hey. The "glitch" was that garmin did an update. Mine did the same thing. In the updates it tells that they tried to make the predicted times more accurate.
Great info! Thanks. I’m not sure they succeeded…. ;)
Same here with my 965. Maybe a 50/50 split does the trick. 10m faster, split, "only" 5m faster, at 2h27. Yep. That sounds just about right 😁😅
I’ll take it! :)

Still a dream at the moment!
2:33:45 The weather seems to be a tad too warm on sunday for sub 2:30... but I still cheer for you. 😉 Or Monday or Tuesday I would totally belive it.

No I’m not concerned. It’s going to be cool on race day I think.
