Hi John, great review of the jacket I'm also DPM era I don't suppose you ever started out in 55/49 Regt at any point you seem awfully familiar? Either way keep up the good stuff mate.
Thats me, joined 55 bty in summer of 1981 and went to Vogelsang on my first regimental exercise after my year at Juniors leaders, my elder brother Roy (aka Monkey) was there before me a couple of years 78 and stayed until Denmark , and then my younger brother David joined mid 80's until the suspended animation in 91,so 3 of us , all better looking than the Mcbrides .
@@johnho2006 LOL, Thought so mate I served with Roy in 55 until I left in 84 (obviously he left a little bit earlier from Denmark) I was on the OP's and I remember Vogalsang very well, especially the stairs leading up to the Frites and Mayo :) I joined the Bty in 78. I don't think we crossed paths very often because of the rarefied air in the OP stores away from the gun park but I remember you well because I would hang out with Roy and the rest of his room because I was next door with "Yorkie" Whitehead in our two man room and once you arrived were a frequent visitor, sadly I missed the arrival of you're Brother David but it's great to see you're doing so well and that you obviously went off to do "P" Co at some point good for you, I expect it was as hard as they say it is. Billy. (Kidd)
@@solo_medic3006hello Billy, Billy the kid, you can find Roy on here and his last videos from the Philippines where he lives like a Lord, happy with his new wife Nancy (lovely woman) and his life, yes i think we had a good block of people, wow the internet has made the world so much smaller, glad the video brought a smile to your face
It’s a nice looking smock, Mr. H. Was it expensive? That vid came out ok. Sounded good through my headphones. Even better with the realistic sounds of the woods and weather. Keep on keeping on good sir 😉👍🏼
@@johnho2006 Out of curiosity, I bought a used DPM British Army Smock with some degree of DWR coating for about £35 in 2021. Used but in Grade 1 condition. I also bought an SAS Smock (think it’s a para smock, tbhwy) from a supplier 3-4 years back. £20. It has all the pockets on chest and waist, sleeve pockets and, what I call poachers pockets in the rear, inside at hem level. Been a great jacket! My curiosity question,,, what makes the Arktis one better? Honest and genuine question 😉👍🏼
my choice of hoods for warmth are the Buffalo special six shirt hood , works very well in our wet conditions , and adding the buffalo mittens again for a Christmas present. the north west of England is just a damp place, we never get more than a few days of snow, a very basic Jacket/smock but a good buy,
Looks great, John. DWR treatment working good too, you can see the rain beading up on your shoulder. Nice! 👍
You'll be toasty under that lot. Happy Days.
