    I dropped my niece off at school this morning because she missed the bus. As she got out of the car I reminded myself to tell her " have a good day, I love you." Just in case she didn't come home. From School! From what is supposed to be the place of ultimate safety. Even in that moment I was aware that kids get shot in school all the time these days and society and lawmakers do absolutely nothing to protect them. How did our society get to this point? Where kids go to school and wonder if they'll be killed that day? Luckily my niece came home today, but there's 19 kids who aren't coming home.

      @@narjolepsy I live in Arkansas and both of my children's schools have an armed officer/ guard. So yes the best way to stop a school shooter is by having armed people inside the school who are trained to use firearms safely. How is this hard to understand? U do realize someone that's going to murder people doesn't care about laws right? U realize in Chicago guns are ILLEGAL yet most shootings daily right? Or guess your solution is to wait 20+ mins for police to come? Or I know more gun laws! & please before u go saying just ban all guns - as a woman gun rights are women's rights. When my husband is gone off working & 2+ men were to come into my home - a gun is the only thing that gives me a fighting chance at protecting my children & myself. Or what do you suggest? Pepper spray? So I can really make them mad? . Or just hope they don't rape or attack my beautiful daughter or myself? Let's say we take away all guns. What do you suggest I do to protect myself and children? Work out a lot so I can try to be stronger than the 1 or more men that may break into my home? Break-ins happen literally every single night and day everywhere in the world. I would be terrified to be a woman living somewhere guns are illegal & have no way to protect myself & to have to be a sitting duck in my own home & at the mercy of whoever is breaking into my home in the night.

    I am an elementary school teacher in San Bernardino. Sadly, my friend Karen Smith was killed, along with one of her students, a sweet little 8 year old named Jonathan Martinez, at their school, North Park Elementary in 2017. Less than 18 months after the mass shooting in 2015. I could never truly get past her death, she was one of the people that encouraged me to get in to the profession, and now this. A couple of these babies look like some of my students. I don't have any more 'thoughts and prayers'. These families have gotten more than enough of that. We need ACTION. We've needed actions since April 20th, 1999 in Columbine. And sadly, we're never going to get them because 1/2 of this country's political will is about NOTHING but power. They operate with calloused, blood stained hands and dark hearts that care nothing about those who will be slaughtered and are defended by people too myopic to understand the true value of life has no political leanings.

I do not believe that arming teachers is a solution. There is no place in a civilized society for automatic assault weapons. They definitely should not be sold to an 18 year old. This isn’t about laws or what your political opinion is. It’s the well-being of these children. They had their lives ahead of them, they were someone. They have been striped of a future, and now their loved ones will suffer in grief for the rest of their lives. This is about the well-being of the people. Blame the person, but blame whoever allowed that damned gun for ever being allowed into such malicious hands too. I’m very young myself, it could’ve been me, or my brother, or my mother. Yet not much basic logic is needed to understand that this in fact “ was not inevitable.” My deepest most genuine condolences to the families of this tragedy, your little loved ones deserved better, and to the teachers who died in order to save those children, your death will not be in vain.

    I live in Arkansas and both of my children's schools have an armed officer/ guard. Break-ins happen literally every single night and day. I would be terrified to be a woman living somewhere guns are illegal & have no way to protect myself & to have to be a sitting duck in my own home & at the mercy of whoever is breaking into my home in the night.

      got any other examples otherwise that's an outlier not the norm plus a lot of the times when a school shooter sees armed guards, they don't do it for their own safety and either look for another school or stop all together and guns are in the constitution to stop tyranny and if you say that can't happen look at the trucker protests

    • @mj-rg9kp
      @mj-rg9kp 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s to fight back against tyranny. Remember during covid when Australia had forced lock downs and people weren’t even allowed to go out for basic needs and had cops on surveillance to keep people indoors?
      Or when valid peaceful protests all around Europe against lockdowns were met with police and military brutality?They won’t be able to do that here bc we’re armed. Ona smaller scale, a skinny teenager or an old woman can defend herself against burglars and killers, and there are plenty of examples there too.
      Not even 100 years ago, kids in the US knew how to operate guns and carried it with them to school, that was the norm. No school shootings nor massive killings resulted. The issue here is accountability, they want to keep the borders open for criminals and terrorists to waltz in by the thousands and the existing criminals get a slap on the wrist or not even that for committing crimes. Laws need to be strict but not for the law abiding citizens, it needs to be toughened for criminals.

    I don't understand anything any more. Can't process this so the one thing I do know is the indescribable pain of the parents. This is the worst loss. We die first, not our children.
    Be mad, be whatever you need to be, and friends of the parents? BE present, say nothing, bring food in something that can be thrown away.
    Our country is sick. We are not ok, this is not ok. Our children are hurting. Keep politics and all stupid adult garbage from them. This is a terrible time to be a child. And a very difficult time to be a parent, trying to protect our babies.
