342 Trains Go HOG, Saving Rs 800 Crore for Railways | News Station

  • Ministry of Railways decides to adopt #HOG system (Head on Generation technology) in all #LHBCoaches trains
    Till date, 342 trains have already been converted into HOG. This is resulting in saving of approximate Rs 800 crore
    The way ACs run and power supply is done in railway coaches is to transform. Such new technological transformation is also to bring in foreign exchange saving of about 1400 Crore Rupees per year.
    In the new technology called - #HeadOnGeneration technology, the power will be drawn from the Overhead Electric supply. The power generator cars which used to make huge noise and emit fumes will no more be there. In place of two such generator cars there will be one standby silent generator car to be used for emergency. In place of the other car, there will be LSLRD (LHB Second Luggage, Guard & Divyaang Compartment). This LSLRD will also have capability to convert power from the overhead supply to be utilised in the entire train while providing space for luggage guard room and additional passengers. Currently, the cost of power is over Rs. 36 per unit and with HOG it will available at Rs. 6 Per unit.

    These coaches are very good but now all the new LHB sleeper and general coaches are having only the sliding windows instead of these shutter windows. Sliding windows are not good and they are actually narrow. I wish Indian Railways would bring back the shutter windows in future LHB coaches which is an all-time hit in Indian Railways...

    पहले भी सरकार ने दिव्यांग लोगों के लिए कोच बनाया था पर वह तो सब बर्बाद हो गया क्योंकि उसमें आम नागरिक चढ़ जाते थे, गार्ड से कहा जाए कि यह कोच में सिर्फ दिव्यांग लोग ही चढ़े या आम नागरिक किसी भी हालत में कोच में ना चढ़े और चढ़े तो उन पर भारी जुर्माना और जेल की सजा हो,

      This is LHB coach SLR. LHB rakes have EOGs at both end. Now there will be only one EOG and one will be this SLR.

      Prantik . It is not the coach . The actual action taken by govt has saved crores of rupees .by changing the power generation from eog which uses two generators front and back end of the train with huge generator noise which u often hear and see . Now by removing it and moving onto HOG power generation the power consumption has come down from 36% to 6% . Just imagine how much energy we save . And the generator coach has been reply by the coaches u see in video which will bring extra income for railways . Ek teer se do nishana

    Great idea. Problem is many times the locomotive fails on IR , then the train will go dark till another similarly configured loco is sent to tow the train Wheelchair mode is fantastic Extra seating is great. Hope our party el guys don’t take money on the side to quietly send the parcel from place to place 😬 but overall, delivery time will be much faster

    भाई साहब दिव्यांग लोगों के लिए भारत सरकार ने कोच तो बना दिया है पर उसमें फायदा तभी उनको मिलेगा जब इसमें आम नागरिक ना चढ़े डब्बे के बाहर साफ चेतावनी में लिख देना चाहिए कि आम नागरिक इस कोच में ना चढ़े यह सिर्फ दिव्यांग लोगों के लिए है ,और जो चढ़ेगा उस पर भारी जुर्माना या जेल होगी, tti लोग पैसे के लालच में आकर दिव्यांग कोच में आम नागरिकों को चढ़ा देते हैं यह बिल्कुल नहीं होना चाहिए,

    Still HOG is not successful in fully air-conditioned coach,,,.I am suggest to Indian railway that use EOG .and put pantograph and transformer instead of diesel generators in the EOG

      ICF coaches me power apne ap generate hote hai. Usme battery hote hai, under the coaches. But LHB me koy battery nahi hote hai.

      There will always be one EOG. Because the train will lose power when it will go through neutral zones. The railway is only removing one EOG from every train.

      kuch bhi 100 log jaenge, itni chutia janta nahi hai, usmai kam se kam 200 toh jaenge hi yaar.
