I have owned and flown the original (red) 4S Arrows Husky for around 2 years now. It's a GREAT airplane and my favorite foam flier for sure. In my opinion, the 4S version has plenty of power and has been very reliable. It's hard to imagine that the 6S upgrades are called for but let's face it: 6S power, a sexy wooden prop and metal gear servos can't really be a bad thing.
Nice Plane Brian, 👍 I'm staying away from 6s due to the cost of the batteries. I did just order the Maule M7 1.5M with a NX8 and 2 4s 2200 mAh G2 packs. The charger and 2 2200 mAh 3s G2s will be here Monday. Starting off with the 55Watt A/C G2 charger for now. I'm use to old school so this new Technology stuff will take some getting use too. P S. NICE SAVE ON THAT Tip Stall. 👏
I don't blame you on the cost for 6S, but if you want an EDF jet - you will need a 6S...they actually have power, and till you fly one, you won't know what you're missing, other than the $100-200 single packs - OUUUUUUCH!
I love this plane too Brian. My only issue is that I have a ton of down elevator mix with the flaps to keep it from ballooning up when flaps deployed. I think I have nearly 30% down mix with full flaps.
This can happen, but why is this an issue for you? Are you concerned you'll run out of elevator? Maybe you could look at your CG a bit, and see if you can tolerate a bit more tail heavy...which would make you elevator have a bit more effectiveness. Just a thought, but might not be a good choice in your situation.
This gives me beaver vibs, but on a somewhat budget. It does what you want, when you want, and looks gorgeous doing it. ....Ugh I'm literally going to go into debt haha there's just too many planes that I want.. Like now... Great video BP! And also, go camera crew. This flight really showed just how amazing you are as well! Thanks for the video!!
Thanks Dean! This plane is a joy, and good one to add to your fleet. Like you said, reminds you of the beaver, only on a budget...well, throw a big squishy pair on there, and you'll have all sorts of fun with her ;)
That thing is a beast. Brian flew the wings off that thing. Almost literally. hehe It took that impact pretty dang well. The landing gear took the brunt of it I think. Either way they seem pretty dang tough. Loved the spin around take off in the grass coming out of the bowl. 😁 That was cool 😎 Definitely a nice flight plane with plenty of power. 🔥👍✌️
Took her out on the maiden yesterday with my son filming. A little nose heavy with the dubro tires. 1 min 58 sec into flight heard a snap. Brought in with a little rough landing to find the wing supports on back of wing pulled out of foam and center struts than snap into wing were broken at the point of where they snap into wing. More than disappointed. Waited on maiden till my birthday. Kind of a spoiler
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Have you asked Dan at Hobbyzone to help you out??? They have excellent customer service from what I've been told. I'm sorry this broke on you!!!
Brian. You were correct. Sent Dan from arrows the footage and told him what had happened. He sent a new wing set out. So finally get everything sorted got her into the air and she flew beautifully. Except on the 6th flight. Timer said 1 min left so I banked her around to get to the otherside of the feild and watched a wing come off as the rest of it came spinning down. Could I be doing something wrong. I don't have these issues with my apprentice
Hey Brian do you think you can do a video on programming with the Expos and all that for newbies like me who have no idea what that means the Expo and rates and all that and how to set them thank you and keep up the great work love your videos learning a lot
Expo and Rates are highly subjective, and we have made many videos about this over the years. Just copy my settings and then play with it. You need to experiment with it a little to get the feel for what YOU like.
Another great video guys, the only thing missing for me was you forgot to finish the comparison between the Vector and AS3X stabilisation systems you started just before it “fell” from the sky.
Batteries getting low.....let's do ten more landings. 😛 I thought you destroyed the prop for sure on that crash. So why a December video clear into the end of February?
Timing of our production. We have some footage ready, and then we have to wait since other stuff is out... We learned a LONG time ago DO NOT POST VIDEOS EVERY DAY - you'll get punished by TH-cam and your audience will buck that badly too, at least as a general rule.
Hey Brian, you were about to give us a comparison of the Vector to AS3X @ ~ 8:52 but never got into it. I watched and listened to the very end of the video expecting you to finish your thoughts on the subject but you never did give the comparison. I WANT MY MONEY BACK! 😊 Really though, I would like to hear/read your comparison. Thanks.
They are both good. The Vector limits you to the primary axis of control for corrections, and limits wing type, but with AS3X via the new Forward Programming on NX and IX lines, you can setup whatever wing type you want, without compromise, BUT at a heck of a premium price ;( Oh well, at least we're getting where we want to be. Love Vector for simplicity and the fact that it's many times included on the planes allowing for a cheap Rx. Prefer the flexibility of wing type with AR631/AR637T
Sounded like the 1st takeoff assist was from a CO2 cartridge? But I don’t see it! Now I know why the pavement was wet (at your feet or on your Transmitter)! Lol crazy crash stunt!
More confusion on actual flight time? Seems like I saw it mentioned if the timer was set to cut at low throttle, actual (useful) flight time would be noted. Then chit chat, potty breaks, and such wouldn’t be giving false credit to flight time. New folks might be mislead. But whatta I know! Keep on keepin’ on!
Sorry. Flight times very a lot anyway, so if it's not glaringly BAD or GOOD, we don't try to make a huge thing of it. Now on EDF jets, that's an example of when you NEEEEEEEED to know, but on a prop plane, that will fly on a +/- 1500mAh range, you could be adding or subtracting 25-50% flight time.
Really liking this plane, it looks almost as good as the Cub in the air...yes if I could afford to drop £600 on a plane I would get the Carbon Z Cub but...... for roughly half the price I can get this one and not feel I only have half the plane. Really loving your videos Brian, been following your channel for a few years now as JJS, now changed my ID to Small Field Flying. As far as a complete package goes your channel is the best.
Gm give me your honest opinion starting out looking at Trojan t28 which radio would you pick pricing nearly the same nx6 or nx8 or nx10 which would you pick?
NX8 - all day long. 10 is too much of a jump, if you're gonna get a 10, just get the IX12... If you're gonna get the NX6 (which is amazing still) don't waste future yous (in like 9 months) money...get the NX8
Man you make it look too easy. Question for ya if you got time. I took my cz cessna trike out for a maiden yesterday, running on a spektrum 4s 5000 50c. I didn't try hard at all but it didn't want to lift off the ground. It was kind of rainy so only had a chance to do 2 passes about 100 ft full throttle and it didn't want to lift off. Not sure if i have to change the programming on the esc? It's got that programmable esc that had questionable reviews. I didn't give it any elevator cuz I didn't want to force it. Seemed like it had the speed. Any ideas? Also probly a good thing it didn't take off because I forgot to flip the esc switch on, which from my testing it does nothing.. but could be wrong. Bought it "Used" opened but not assembled from what I believe to be horizons secret eBay store so possibilities are endless..
I had same problem it didnt want to lift off because motor was not running at full power… this esc is a little older so it doesnt auto detect 4s and 6s lipos if u want to fly 4s u have to follow my advice below and if wanting to go back to 6s same deal….. yes a pain in the butt i know… So if its the original cessna im thinking of red ? Trike style? Then that one has the 60 amp pro switch mode esc V2….. You can actually reprogram this (with remote sticks its easy) and if you want to run just 4s you will have to change settings for battery so u go into programming mode and its menu 1 u want to use “ 4 cell low voltage cutoff” And u should be golden i use this esc (originally in my carbon ss 2.1m) in my eflite maule m7 on 4s works great but before changing this setting motor did not want to spin at normal speed…. Anyway here is the manual, shows how to get into programming and all parameters 🤘🏼 www.manualsdir.com/manuals/591155/e-flite-60-amp-pro-switch-mode-bec-brushless-esc-v2.html
So the OLD Carbon Z Cessna 150? If it doesn't lift off, did you have a LOT of flap deployed??? If so, maybe cut that to half what you were doing...sometimes this will make the mains come off the ground first - I know, it sounds weird, but kinda cool too ;) Just give it some elevator and fly the plane ;) She'll go, or you'll be grounded till you figure things out. Now you got me guessing about what the heck was going on!!!
@@BrianPhillipsRC yep its an old cz. But I had no flaps deployed. The esc thats in it is programmable, so I'm wondering if I have to change the motor timing on it? I didn't want to give it any elevator cuz it didn't look like it had any more power. I had to program the esc to take the 4s pack, so I'm thinking it's gotta be something to do with that. It's a new spektrum battery and all cells were 4.0v. I also recently got an old eflite cessna aerobat arf that I can't get off the ground even with elevator... guess cessnas aren't my kind of plane.. I'm starting to see how rc planes were before these new super simple foamies! But we have snow on the ground again so it'll be a while before I can try again...
You started to compare the Vector to Safe right before the rudder incident. But never got back to that. I’d like to hear your opinion on that comparison please. Thank you.
Good quesiton, and I was literally talking with Megan about this while we were getting ready this morning. I'm gonna have to take a rain check on the answer thou, Jeffrey - we'll touch on it in the next few videos.

Arrows are similar in build quality. I feel the AS3X and SAFE are better, but Vector is a close second. Not as much setup flexibility, but very good. No... It flies faster, and heavier, somewhat inferior to the Carbon Z Cub SS 2.1m That's not to say it's BAD, so please don't misunderstand. This plane is excellent, but the Carbon Z Cub SS 2.1m is a gem - one of my absolute favorite planes of all time.
@@BrianPhillipsRC That's one of the things I have always loved about your channel, the honesty and sincerity; you really want to see people make an informed choice. Don't ever change that.
Hey Brian, what size 6S battery are you using? I've had some real struggles with this plane - finding that it has been quite difficult to get the CG right, either quite nose heavy and running out of elevator in the landing, or ending up putting it into a spin if you get it too far aft. I've had several weird tip stalls on takeoff - and worst thing is that I seem to have had some major issues with the stabilization to the point where I've just turned it off - because it has flown me right into a tree several times - just because it seems to be trying to compensate for a gust and just then just won't let you turn at all - says - nope I've compensated right toward this tree and I'm going to fly into it regardless of what you want to do. Just some really oddball stuff. Even to the point where well within reception range - I've seen it do things like pause for a second (or two) before it responds. All together - makes me say I wouldn't buy this one again. I had the Bigfoot before this one with same receiver and transmitter and never had any of those issues - it was a dream to fly - this one - I won't take it out on a windy day because it ends up in a crumpled mess. Wondering if some of my issue was just too heavy because I stuck too big a battery into it. Has been quite frustrating to be honest and while it looks cool - and on a calm day can be fun to get it slow - but I have a hard time getting it as slow as you in the video without it stalling and dropping a wing. Just not quite what I had hoped.
Battery - gotta watch to see ;) I can't remember. (Should also be in the links in the video description) I believe you have a radio system issue. Take out the Vector OR Rx, and start diagnosing which is bad. You can also do a RANGE test, and should help you pinpoint if the Rx is bad....BUT...I think you have something wrong with your Rx... Can you pull them BOTH and just put in an AR631 or AR630?
This one flies a lot heavier, but looks good doing it. For this reason, it flies a bit faster at cruise. The Carbon Z Cub is a LOT bigger...I know, it's only 0.2m but that means a LOT of extra plane, in ALL three dimensions. Husky bit.ly/32lxCCu
You are a wild and crazy kind of guy and remind me of the comic guy who does a routine at the air show of a dude stealing a plane. Lol He like takes off on one wheel etc. you having too much fun. Cool good job.
Metal gear servos, just paid for themselves on that rudder. Bent linkage would have been stripped gears on a normal servo. A plus vote for the Ultimate Husky.
To be fair, it is PNP, rather than BNF - this can make a big difference, if you're picking a pricey Rx. But yes, this model is a great value! If you want even more affordable, do the NON ULTIMATE, and it's less still. Hobbyzone has done a great job of striking a good balance between features and value.
Love you're video. Love you're attitude. But drop the fan boy of Spektrum and explore the outside of the box. Spektrum is like Microsoft trying to get all onboard not let everyone else to try other brand. Manoploy what we call. Right now to this day. Radio Master been showing great hardware quality. So much advance and having cutting edge Edgetx. Can you please get a Tx16s or so and study and get more pro'ish with edgetx and do a real review? Edgetx as Opentx there no limitation on firmware as Spektrum. Spektrum charge you higher for more feature. Which many radio manufacture who have edgetx or opentx keep firmware way limitless then flysky, Futaba, spektrum and other. Or you don't do review because you sponsor getting paid Spektrum?

(Should also be in the links in the video description)
I believe you have a radio system issue. Take out the Vector OR Rx, and start diagnosing which is bad. You can also do a RANGE test, and should help you pinpoint if the Rx is bad....BUT...I think you have something wrong with your Rx...
Can you pull them BOTH and just put in an AR631 or AR630?
👍
thanks!
It would appear that Arrow has pulled it from the market. (403 error on the link) What a shame!
Edit: Computer issue on my end. Sorry.
Thanks David for the update ;)
Whenever I get carless, I crash. Still gotta put the nose back on my Carbon Cub S2.
Happens ;)
Brian- have you flown 4000s or any bigger batts in the husky??? Awesome vids as always- any plane I’m looking at, you’re flying it. Cheers!
How does this compare to e flite carbon z cub?
This one flies a lot heavier, but looks good doing it. For this reason, it flies a bit faster at cruise.
The Carbon Z Cub is a LOT bigger...I know, it's only 0.2m but that means a LOT of extra plane, in ALL three dimensions.

👏👏👏
Thanks!
Could this be flown without the wing bracing?
Husky or the FMS beaver 2000mm?
Not in the same class... Beaver, hands down.
Also, pretty big price difference, right???

Okay I'll try to copy with your footing on yours and see how that works out boy I wish you were my neighbor lol this would be so much easier
Okay ;)
You are a wild and crazy kind of guy and remind me of the comic guy who does a routine at the air show of a dude stealing a plane. Lol He like takes off on one wheel etc. you having too much fun. Cool good job.
That's a cool routine, I've seen it too, where they steal the CUB, and he's doing all sorts of craziness!
Thanks Ray!
You are not going to get baled out of trouble with your hay!
I wonder if my ignorance is showing here, but I have no idea what you mean??? Please do elaborate!
@@BrianPhillipsRC I was making a pun on hay!
How long do you get from a battery these days?
Metal gear servos, just paid for themselves on that rudder. Bent linkage would have been stripped gears on a normal servo. A plus vote for the Ultimate Husky.
100%
can I use 4 s on that version ? thx
yes, but I generally use 6S, since it's capable.
you could almost land a little plane on that wing !!!
I should totally do that!!!! Thanks ;)
you keep everything interesting lol
Thanks John! More coming soon ;)
One Hel lof a Good Plane for alot less money than a eflite bird that size
To be fair, it is PNP, rather than BNF - this can make a big difference, if you're picking a pricey Rx. But yes, this model is a great value! If you want even more affordable, do the NON ULTIMATE, and it's less still. Hobbyzone has done a great job of striking a good balance between features and value.
THATS UNBEATABLE ALL ROUND ESPECIALLY FLIGHT TIME ⏲
It is a great plane. Just wish pneumatic tires.
