If you don't have a jack hammer, you could just remove what's loose, and patch it up with Rapid Set Mortar Mix. That's what I did to my steps. I just watched Mike Haduck here on TH-cam, and it's good as new

Great video. Did you use a special mix for the concrete ? IMHO it needs to be specially tough to withstand years of footfall.

Great video! Amazing job.
Cut the bottom of your risers at a 45 and you'll be able to get a trowel.
I didn't cut the 45 for this one because I removed the fram the same day,but that's a great tips 👌
How many bags of concrete did you use
Fantastic my brother!
Thank you kindly!
You saved someone from breaking their ankle 🤕 nice job 👍
Ah-those are cement. Mine are concrete, so requires jackhammer or hydraulic crusher.
And this is why we are required to pull a permit for stairs.
Piece of cake
Not a good idea to pour up against bare wood probably should have put a piece of metal in front of that top step ! But looks good otherwise !
I could use that machine to break the steps apart. However, I don't trust myself at building the steps back.
lol you can do it give it a try😉
The bottom step should not have been formed and poured on top of the 2" concrete bottom. He should have removed that also. The treads are different sizes. You NEVER make the step different sizes to step on. The face of the steps are terrible.
When doing steps you pull the forms when the concrete has set up enough that they won't collapse. This is done so that you can sponge finish the face and you won't have the honeycombs that those had.
I'VE seen the block work and brick work he does and he should stick to that. If he wants to do Concrete, he should have an experienced Concrete man teach him the right way to do it.
I appreciate your expertise Matthew do you have a channel so I can learn more. Please forward the link it would be appreciated
Lol top step slopes bout 1/2 inch down towards door bottom step slopes down opposite direction bout 1 inch
@@Getitdone87 did you notice that he drilled and screwed in the tap-cons of the top step form......and after the whole thing was screwed in........THEN HE CHECKED IT WITH A LEVEL.
AND HAD TO PULL IT APART BECAUSE IT WASN'T LEVEL.
Why don’t you buy good tools.
U have basic tools of every brand.
?
Did it do the job? Yes is the answer. Why don’t you buy him some more tools. I doubt he would object!
