How To Unlock A Bike Roof Rack With Just Two Spokes

You just need two normal bicycle wheel spokes and a few minutes to unlock most bike and roof racks. You also need a few common tools to adapt the spokes so they become your new key. In the video we are going to unlock one bike rack and one Thule roof rack holder. They both use the same type of barrel lock which is surprisingly easy to open.

Thank you very much for your video. I had a pair of expensive Volvoflat wing roof bars without the keys. With yout trick i could remove the existing locks from the 2 bars. Thule has a set Thule 544 one key system with 4 new cilinders. I purchased this set Thule 544 (code 1000-02-4) for 2 euros in a thriftshop 😁and now i have fully functioning roof bars with new cilinders an 4 keys. Thanks again this helped me a lot !!!

Is anyone else hearing "anti clockwise" as "anti-lock-wise"? ;)
Now I'm on the fence about buying a Thule roof case.

I think I'm hearing it as well :D Otherwise, I like Thule products, seems like they are good quality and they look stylish. Anyone with the proper tools can open these type of locks. I don't think they are meant to keep you bike safe overnight in public for example. If you think about it, someone with an angle grinder can cut a U-lock in 1-2 minutes.

Oh man, let me try this. Local lock smith is charging $80 ($20 per lock) a new 4 key set from Thule is only $69.99. Would be awesome if I can save the four locks without the key.

How is the key? Is there teeth on both sides or just on one side? Mine has on both side so I’m wondering if it will work. Thanks in advance

As far as I remember, there are teeth on both sides but actually only one of the sides matters. If you get one side aligned, it should unlock.

@@buckbikespent4588 Thanks for the answer! I saw somewhere that on some locks the pins are alternated (one on one side, one on the other side and so on) but you simply have to push the pins on both sides. I will try as soon as I receive my tools 🙂
