Great! Nice job as always! I was waiting for this, and if it wasn't coming up soon, I was about to request this. Wagakki means "traditional instruments". The band was created by its principal songwriter and great singer, Yuko Suzuhana (about 38, I think), who is a musical creative fireball. She also is a pianist, an expert at a type of chanting Asian poetry, samurai swords, and even hosts her own TV show in Japan! Imagine that she had to learn to sing this in English! I'll request more from them coming up, but the band also did a great original Wagakki collaboration with Amy Lee in an animated video. :) The light sticks are a staple at all Wagakki band shows in Japan. You didn't say much about Yuko's awesome singing, though, which was the one thing you didn't mention!

I believe Yuko just celebrated her 34th birthday. Beni is a few years older so maybe the dates became confused.

Interesting that no mention of the harmony which Yuko provided to Amy with them often changing vocal positions as they sang.

Love the two singers, Amy held the pitch. The Japanese instruments were a natural addition. Love it when culture and sound make it. Love the reaction. Stay safe.

Waggaki band is twosuper groups and two solo artists. Three piece rock band, two piece and vocals traditional Japanese, Solo Shinshen (the three string) and the second drummer. When they tour Japan they often add clips of exploring historical places before the shows.

Funny thing is that I have seen Amy Lee in an interview say that she did not want the rap portion at all, that the record company was pressuring them to include the rapping all over the album and as a compromise to get them off her back, she accepted to put the rap on this one song.

Very true. Amy Lee is from Little Rock Arkansas where I am from. Evanescence was played on our local radio before they made it big and a lot of there songs got changed from original production of the songs. When they perform the song live its without the 12 stones singer part.

Oh, you need more of Wagakki Band. This band is one of the most popular in Japan but they are more than a rock or metal band bc they play whatever like Jazz, Pop, Electronical, Ballads, Folklore and course, Rock and metal

my mom introduced me to Amy Lee and we had her playing throughout the house. years later I met my wife across the world. guess who her favorite singer is. At karaoke my wife with her power voice makes everyone else feel like "well damn". my mom and wife get along great. bring japanese and american music together.

    Hi Sarah (& Tom),
Amy Lee and rock music loved by the Japanese traditional instruments band,
lots of new names for instruments to discover...
Amy dressed in Japanese costume looks good.
The leader seems like Arjen, bringing performers together to produce amazing sounds.
    The size of those drums!
    And an orchestra!
    Amy has some big boots...

In modern concert or traditional theatrical play, in Japan, synchronization of audience with the stage is a tradition and very natural thing for them. So there should be no conductor.
Great first impression !! This song is a perfect entering point to deep Wagakki fox hole. Believe or not they are very good at western-Japanese fusion, Metal, punk, swing, lullaby and others. If you are interested in another surprise and unexpected performance. I would recommend Homura+Akatsuki no Ito. Two consecutive but totally different. And this made many US reactors’ eye-popping. But actually too many different style recommendable songs out of Wagakki band.

So great. I had been unimpressed and even disappointed in some of Amy's live performances years ago so did not think she had it in her.
She has worked on it &/or is just more mature so maybe more serious now.
I also HATED the re-record of this song that was without the original male singer, and it fell flat. Designed to cut him out in my opinion by replacing the official recording of the song for radio etc.
I was pleasantly surprised here with the male singer doing a great job to make it sound right again.
Amy was flawless, though you could hear in parts her voice is a bit more subdued, and has a bit less power.
Other lead girl was super as a complimenting singer in their duet.
    Really so good!

A wonderful collaboration. Who would of guessed? But, Amy Lee sounds great, as usual.
The only thing missing was The Hu’s throat singing.
