And the chorus is phenomenal. A contrast is created between the high voice of the woman and the grave sound of the choir, which gives you chills.
The "choir" are a special type of basso profundo called oktavists.
And yes, you are right, they are exceptional, and the combination with the singer is sublime.

The oktavists (extremely deep bass performers behind Miss Wehbé) are so spectacularly good. I wish I had the musical education to articulate what they are doing, but especially in the last verse(s) their tonality gives such incredible richness, of course, but it is more than this. Without those deep vibrations, the full feeling of the _mysterium tremendum_ would be missing.
