I have a personal connection with this song. I was diagnosed with ADHD since I was 6 , and it's been hard all through school. I did feel smarter with my adderall but , I was so lifeless and , dull with it. Sadly I just can't focus without it. My favorite line is "the adderall won't loosen the pressure , theirs only so much I can take " it's so frustrating that you feel as if you have to go through life taking medicine to focus when other kids can do it so easily.

Damn these lyrics hit too close to home. I wasn't diagnosed with ADD till late in life, and started on Adderall. And it really works for me and makes me feel so much better, makes it so I actually have energy and focus rather than going through life like a zombie. But it apparently changes my personality enough that my wife and my friends have noticed and dont like my personality now. Its upsetting because I feel like it's allowed me to finally express my true self. But now the people closest to me dont like that I act different even though it's how I should be acting if I had a normal brain.😥

ADHD diagnosis very early on leading to a 15 year stint of ritalin and concerta treatment. This song makes me feel so nostalgic for the frustration that the drugs made you feel, which is a wierd thing to say. I loved taking my pills and going to school and being able to learn... and hated coming home and looking at the same page of homework for like 30 mins before being able to do anything. I couldnt take another dose because I was at my daily dose limit already just in the morning, because my docter determined i needed a stronger dose in the morning since i wasnt as responsive to his original dose when I was moved to concerta. I spent most afternoons completely scatterbrained and unable to focus on anything that wasnt video games. (Legend of Dragoon was a huge time sink for me)

I actually wonder if I have ADD. I was pretty bad at applying myself to coursework. Like I'm good at IT, and at the time I was probably one of the best or maybe even the best in the class at the time, but I probably came out with the worst grade (think it was an E). I was doing pretty well to begin with at the coursework, then I just stopped. My grades really don't reflect my actual skill.

I was diagnosed with ADD young and put on Ritalin. Every time I went in (yearly checkup, illness followups, prescription refills, etc.) the doc would just up the dose for no particular reason, and not by a small amount either. It went south inevitably, and now ontop of the standard symptoms, I started seeing and hearing things. That still hasn't gone away.
He eventually retired and died, and my new doctor re-diagnosed me with ADHD and went the smarter route of trying other medications and dosages in safe ranges. They all almost worked; it was either a trade off of one problem for another, or just more problems stacked on top. I was advised against it, but when I was old enough to make that decision, I stopped meds entirely to see what was available to me with nothing skewing my perception.
Funny enough, my grades improved, my sleep improved, and my morale was through the roof. I am a whirlwind of words and thoughts, but the results were and are overwhelmingly positive. Now I have a job with decent pay and security, I'm working on a college degree with no outstanding debt, and I have multiple circles of friends and hobbies to keep me sane.
