It’s theft of a Christian cathedral -the temple of holy wisdom in Greek-that echoed with the beauty of Byzantine hymns for almost a thousand years, far longer than it’s served as a mosque. Every other mosque in Turkey is just a copy of this magnificent Christian basilica. Erdogan re-opened it as a mosque again as a cheap political ploy to pander to his Islamist followers. It’s painful to see how they have defaced this building, but no matter how many frescoes and crosses they’ve covered with plaster or curtains, or how many ezans are howled out from the minarets that were shoved onto the original edifice, it was, is and always will be a Christian house of worship.
The ottomans saved Ay’a Sofya from collapsing out of itself because off basically no maintenance and poor design. It is Mimar Sinan who saved this building till date including all the historical artifact in the inside. You cannot say anything similar to mosques in Greece and the Balkans. These are completely destroyed and all heritage is burned with hate. This is the difference between Islam and you. History never lies.
The more I know about how Hagia Sophia Cathedral was abused by Muslim Turks the more I disrespect Turkey, contempt Turkish people and despise Turkish history.
