    Great video. I've had the oxygen pro mini for a while now and overall a great controller, however the default DAW and preset settings are terrible. of course you can customise everything, which is a huge bonus and exactly what Ive done - remapped the whole controller as the factory settings are not
    intuitive. The Preset editor also needs more work, there are certain things you cannot modify and can only modify directly on the controller. hopefully some of this will be improved with future software and firmware releases.

    If you need to use the pads, beware.
    Their accuracy is nowhere near the Akai MPK mini series. I just got the Oxygen and already thinking of getting rid of it because the pads do not trigger with short touches at any velocity.
    Need to keep the finger on longer for them to work which eliminates the possibility to play faster rhythms/fingerdrumming.

    Man, as you say it, and the documentation says it, you'd think assigning the 16 knobs in MPC Beats to the 4 knobs on the Mini via the Banks would be straight forward.. No! You have to click Bank 2x as if there is a sub bank within each Bank number, and then there are only 8 available knobs for the 16 MPC knobs, as you Bank through the menus "learning" the knobs as you go, they begin to reuse CCs already used in the first 8 assignments! If you have this figured out, or if the hardware buttons needs to be reassigned unique addresses so to not overlap already used addresses, we certainly would appreciate your tutorial. You are the internet AUTHORITY on this device bro.

    Could you do a video on the MODE button and how it works in DAW mode? The editor seems confusing... it has Rec, Select, Mute, and Solo, but I'm not sure exactly how those 4 are assigned (when you set them to CC, not "Mackie") as you can do 16 assignments total in DAW mode. Thx!

    • @DopamineOverload
      @DopamineOverload 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      edit: Nevermind... I can see when you cycle the Mode button, it has the Record "bank", Select "bank", etc. It's not exactly clear in the manual. But that is pretty cool, because you have 16 button assignments that can be anything, except those standard assignments.

    Very nice. I wasn't looking for a new mini controller, but now you've got me thinking of this for just $159Cdn. I have the original Akai MPK-Mini and Arturia MiniLAB and prefer the MPK-Mini.
    Two definite pros for me: 1) rear connections! I hate the side connections on the MPK-Mini and MiniLAB. 2) MIDI out for sound modules. I rarely use a DAW, and the MPK-Mini and MiniLAB are USB only, so I rarely used the controllers. I use a MPK-61 for hardware synths instead of an intermediate DAW, but not very portable. :-)
    A little disappointed that preset mode for controlling sound modules via MIDI only has two banks, vs. eight for DAW. Considering there are only 4 faders & 4 knobs, I would have liked four banks for non-DAW. But, the MIDI out is a big plus over my MPK-Mini and MiniLAB and I'd actually use this controller.

Would prefert the small but seems like non of the 25 key minis would be great since I want full first position violin. This would be my first keyboard ever for song writing. Need portability. Like that this keyboard starts with F3. Need to work with Garageband and Ableton.

    • @lennert123
      @lennert123 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hope this will globally explain a bit more, just a little explaination what some verbs stand for and what they do and can be used for.
      CC: Control Change (change the controller value. It's based on General Midi Standard Protocol) , PC: Program Change (change to other preset) , (N)RPN: (Non) Registered Parameter Numbers (not really sure what this does it's kind of CC but more in depth and specific) , LSB: Least Significant Bit , MSB: Most Significant Bit . (LSB and MSB contain bank related information like preset bank information the region of bank up and bank down can be set with MSB and LSB values ) Sysex: System Exclusives (being used with hexadecimal string, that contains manufacture data, the type of device, the controller parameter and I believe also the midi channel or values) also there are verbs like MMC (Midi Machine Control) timecode data (clock). These are used for sequencer data like start/pause, record, stop and synchronization with the device thats tells the sequencer exactly when and where it is at the timelime.

    Can this keyboard transpose by semitones and not just octaves? Like, if I wanted to play a C Major and have it actually be D Major, would that be possible? I was mainly wondering since I have no piano experience and only know the C Major scale by eye. While I could and would eventually learn the rest, I'd also like to be able to play and compose in different keys without having to learn and master playing various scales first.

      Yes. It’s the secondary function of the octave buttons. Shift+octave up or down = 1 semitone.

    The keys are not semi weighted in the MIni Pro:( Only the full size ones are in the more expensive ones.

      The box it comes in says "Best-in-class, velocity-sensitive, semi-weighted mini-keys"

    Wait didn't you say the DAW control didnt work with pro tools? and then praise it with that DAW in the end?

      The DAW controls work great with the full version of Pro Tools, just not the free Pro Tools First Edition.

      I clicked back and forth in your video to find out what you meant. I missed that detail.
      That is unfortunate... Especially when it is packaged with it.
      I am wrecking my brain wether my first keyboard should be Novation launch key mini or this. Because of the sliders and multiple DAW utility and customization, I think I am going with M-audio

    I'm sure the thing is great. But to make an account is impossible. Getting support is the world worst. I got ripped off. I can't do nothing with this thing. That's all it is. A THing. I think I waisted my money on this Thing...

    pressing multiple keys at the same time causes one of the notes to just keep playing forever until i repress that key and i can't figure out how to fix that, cant find anything on google and i even asked amazon for a replacement and it STILL does it! can anyone help me?

    • @voidsabre_

      If your replacement also does it then it must be an issue with your software or its interaction with the device
