I am a craftsman and was saving my plastic spinach containers for a project, I am no longer going to use them for and was just waiting to pile enough up for the trip to the recycle center, until...today and this found it's way to me...Thanx
I don't buy these containers very often, but when I do, I now save them.. I start seeds in egg shells. Thank you again Give it a Grow for another wonderful video filled with helpful info. ♥
I love this!! I've been doing this using spinach containers for propagating leaf and stem cuttings in sphagnum moss!! I've also done this with propagated African violet leaf cuttings in soil!!❤
Awesome idea. I used semi clear shoe boxes but it has a solid color lid. Worked okay but it was slow going for the seedlings. This will be 100% better! Thank you.
Great idea!😃 I use these containers to put my potted seedlings in to soak up water; however, I never thought about using them as greenhouses. I will keep this in mind for next year. Thanks!👍
Great idea! I can’t think of any containers similar in the uk. Ours usually have holes in the bottom and they don’t have lids, just flimsy soft plastic covers. I’ll be keeping my eyes open for something similar.
I always keep the trays we get for free with food. They make great trays to put under planters to catch drips. Perfect for bottom watering as you say, and since they are clear they don't clutter up the look of my plant shelves in the house . Always nice to get freebies . Thank you.
I’m getting a new fridge. I’m using the removable drawers that already have the glass shelves for the lids. Also, the removable door bins, -I’m using for planting flowers, adding drain holes and I might paint some with spring flowers etc. I am ecstatic about the money I’m saving on the items I needed desperately.
I love this idea! I think it's just what I've been looking for. My question is can I start tomato and pepper with these mini greenhouses in a mini greenhouse? Will it be warm enough to plant around March 20th? (I live in zone 6a Massachusetts). Thank you so much! :)
I was wondering myself how early I might be able to plant. I’ve learned that even when trying desperately to get my seeds germinated ASAP and the steps that follow too. It seems I still get the veggies or flowers in the same time period as if I didn’t start early. It’s frustrating. I’m wondering if Mother Nature allows the growth only in their natural timing.
@@TheGizardean I bought a water metre to make sure of that one. I think it’s funny i let stuff grow natural it booms , add too much tlc and the plant gets over offended . All the best with your crops👍
Since you asked and no one answered. Yes, tomato and pepper seedling are very small for quite a while. In your zone best to wait until April. Then bury most of the seedling, removing the lower leaves. They form more roots in the parts under ground.
@@TheGizardean i reckon you are correct. I mean, after all nature will take control & we don't really have a say in how/when/if the seed will germinate. I tend to put all seeds out continuously/succession plant throughout the year, including starting during the harsh uk winters, and some are more successful than others, but nature proves to me time & time again that growth will still be successful re most of what I plant under cover in those cold months. Good luck with everything!
Wow cool video. I want to write an article on your build. For this reason I want to take snapshots from ur video. Would it be ok for u if I take screenshots from ur video and also embed your video it into my article
Very, very impressed. Haven't seen these containers where I live but I will now keep a serious eye out for any like it or anything similar. Great stuff. McIntyre
Hello and thanks for you great information, I plant seed in eggs tray but unfortunately after I put the tray outside even it is not under direct sunlight and has enough humidity the plant die . The temperature here is 35 degree . Do you think it is better to keep indoor ? Please advice . All plants been planted in egg tray died after short time
I dont like egg trays because they are too shallow, the paper ones wick moisture away from the soil, and the seedlings are difficult to transplant. Try saving recycled plastic cups and containers for more space. I hope that helps

These are such a deal, get a tub full of spinach (or lettuce) and a free greenhouse to grow your own from seed :)

I have seen other gardeners use plastic storage bins, or even milk jugs. Good luck in your search!

Most of my garden is made from recycles! lol
Thank you. I will do this.
I almost threw away the container after eating the rest of the salad. Just saw this video in the nick of time!
Awesome! I hope this works for you too!

This was very helpfull! I always buy spinach in those containers. Now I know what I can do with them.
Great, loved this vid. Thanks

Thank you Mother Nature for our plants growth ༼ つ ◕◡◕ ༽つ

My pleasure :)
Very good idea. Thank you
Thanks!
Can you grow grapes in them all year long and take them anywhere.
Does this work for peppers, and does it need holes
I use it to start peppers, but they get big pretty quick so it doesn't last long.
I used a whole chicken container. Works great.
creative
Bless you
Wait... You have a mini-greenhouse in a green house?
So it can handle 40 degrees inside the greenhouse or outside the greenhouse?
Its about 10 degrees warmer per layer, so in the 2 layers of protection plants can handle freezing temps without damage.
@@GiveitaGrow wow great info. Thanks!
This is great, thank you.
Oh my I just put mine in the recycled bin. Can I keep these in doors.

Thanks! I have seen people use clear plastic storage bins too, for larger plants. Even milk jugs with the top cut open like a hinge can work.
Genious🥰

How does the plant get oxygen
I open the lid often to check on them. I like to breath on them too to give some CO2 and strengthen the plant.
Nice idea. Is there any need to make holes on the lid?
Good info
Thanks!

Wow ty so much
I love these!
I'm definitely gonna try em
I'm like a fool in the garden and can not destroy the weeds,
If you can't beat em... eat em!
It did not show us how to make the house only now to plant plants
They are ready to use, just remove any stickers for more sun.
I use toilet paper roll for seed cells
Cool! I tried that but the dry out too fast.
You don't start seeds with seed starting soil? Seed starting soil is sterile for the delicate and fragile plants. You recommend potting soil? Why?
I just use potting soil, or you can sift the potting soil to mimic seed starting mix. I find it is not worth the extra cost.
