Thank you! I wanted a greenhouse and this is what fits my needs. Starting with the clear storage containers. And, yes, getting your hands into the soil is restorative.
If you put another sheet on the inside you'd get an air bubble in there which helps keep the temperature even better during the night, like a winter jacket for plants :D
How exactly do you mean? A new sheet around each sides? How much air bubble should it be? I’m trying to build one for my sunroom that doesn’t get heat during the winter
I dont know what zone i live in, just northbof parallel 49. I need to make small green houses to protect my roses and other perennials from frost/snow or too much rain. Your first idea is easy enough, I can modify it ( lack of some tools). Thanks for sharing.
Hi..may i check what type of plastic sheets which is cheap n durable for the green house would u recommend n where to get it from? Thx Ps...your DIY GREENHOUSE is wonderful!
I have perennials that I've not planted yet in Colorado. Can I just cover a shelf unit w the poly and stick in garage for winter? Maybe throw a space heater in there if it gets crazy cold?
Love the idea but am concerned about wind and also the rain. You did something there but not sure how it would avoid the rain not weighing through? Thanks!
Do you need to have ventilation for the plants? I have mature (but small) potted herbs on my patio that I want to survive the winter. Would this work for them?
Also, I’m in Northern California, so we get some cold nights (like 30-40 Fahrenheit), but during the day it’s still 50-70. Any tips would be appreciated!!
This a a very cool idea! The video is great for keeping the temperature regulated for colder months. I have a slightly different issue which is heat & direct sunlight. I have recently purchased a bonsai which I would like to grow out into a bigger tree (Basically going from bonsai, to tree and back to bonsai). I want to offer more light to the indoor plant, but the plant does not like direct sunlight. I am from South Africa and we can experience temperatures up to 38 degrees Celsius. I've place some shade netting around a structure with a wooden board over the top (this does not look great at all and I would like to build a proper enclosure for it). What would you suggest I do?
Wow! That sounds like a fun experiment! I'm not as familiar with the needs of bonsai trees but it sounds like you are on the right track with some protective steps. Finding a lower light area of the house or corners of houses can be helpful for indirect light. Good luck!
Oh wow! I’m in n ga and lost ALL my blueberries this year to a frost. Second year in a row😭. I’m definitely doing a mini greenhouse for them before fall
Oh noooo! ❤️ Yeah my blueberries are starting to come in right now but I could see using something like this plus a mulch/burlap as a way to keep them warm through the winter! Also is it possible for you to go with a more hardy blueberry variety? My thinking there is that it's a lot colder where I live and mine survived - so maybe this would help?
Loved this video! Thank you, I was looking for some ideas for DIYing structures for the garden and those are both perfect! Will you make a video for DIY vertical structures for tomatoes or beans?
Thanks for this video Jordan. I may have a silly question about the wooden structure, so humour me if I missed that part in the video. I know the length of the pieces to be cut, but what is the width of each piece? Or in other words, what size piece of lumber should I get and ask to be cut to those specifications?
That's a great question, Kathleen!! And indeed something I didn't touch on in the video! I went with 2"x2". You could do 2"x4" but I find that gets a bit heavy. With the 2"x2" it's nice and light and easy to move around, but also strong enough to not be blown over by the wind (knock on wood!)
I bought and installed a 6mil plastic over the greenhouse I built. The plastic is opaque and not really clear. With your experience, is this the wrong kind of plastic for my greenhouse?
i am looking to build one about that size, but not so high, just the wood i have, since i am not near it every day to open it up, would it be a good idea to add vents slots near the bottom to let air in? i dont have any bug problems, just want to extend the season, thanks
Oh dang just looked it up (at first I thought it was going to be a power tool for the greenhouse 🤣). I sure do - you getting me a christmas present?! :P Yeah - I love using them on peppers. I literally keep it on the peppers the entire season!
Thank you for making this, new Gardner. I eat raw veg and they're expensive, adding this video for later. Any tips on when I should start Germ seeds in a michigan weather climate? What month should I bring them outside to transplant, any videos for that?
In case you have limited space at home free tip: buy a clear plastic tote bin and use it as a green house. This build is perfect but I wanted to share some insights during my apartment balcony days ❤.

u mean bubble wrap
@@tracycline9109have you got a heap of bubble wrap.. stick it on/tuck it in around inside.. wrap the place up ✌🏽
I made this with my dad and it came out nice and it looks cool , thanks !! 🤙🏽
That's great to hear ! Thanks for watching :)
This is the best way to keep warm in winter 🥶 thank you for your sharing ❤❤❤!!
Glad it was helpful :) Thanks for watching!
Ha! That’s fantastic. I’m absolutely sacrificing one of my blanket totes and going to use this right now. Great video!
awesome! just what I was looking for in northeast tn
Stumbled on to your channel accidentally while searching for simple greenhouse designs. Loved it and will stay connected !
This is so awesome to hear! Thank you for watching :)
Looks beautiful well done 👍
Love the simplicity! Both are great options! Thanks for or the tips 😊
Thrilled to hear it!
WHUTTT? Brilliant second option. Just my style. Thank you!
Glad you like it! Thanks for watching :)

Hello, which plants can I grow in the second option? The plastic box greenhouse
How do you keep mold out during long rain periods during which the greenhouse is closed? Does it not lack ventilation? Looks really cool!
I love it. Does it protect from aphids and snails? How long should I open the door
And in the first option do we need a special plastic sheet?
Hi..may i check what type of plastic sheets which is cheap n durable for the green house would u recommend n where to get it from? Thx

Does the plastic's transparency influence the temperature?
Love the idea but am concerned about wind and also the rain. You did something there but not sure how it would avoid the rain not weighing through? Thanks!
What sort of wood was it you used mate.
I’m wondering how this holds up in the wind. Does it need to be anchored in windy areas and will the plastic rip off the staple?
Luved ur idea. Thank s for sharing
I was thinking about something like this, but how do you handle storms or high winds?

Does it have to be poly plastic, or can it be industrial plastic wrap? i get a bunch free from work, that would probably be cheaper but wouldn't work.
nice video angle and POV, we are able to really see and do it at the same time. Thanks
Hey! Thanks for the feedback , really appreciated :) So glad it was helpful and thank you for watching!

I don't have any vents on the bottom and it has been working beautifully! But, you could give it a try if you'd like
@@MindandSoil another question, if i double a 3 mil plastic, is it the same protection as quantity one of 6 mil?
Can you cover the whole bed or is that a not good idea
You need a burr grinder man, also, I use old water jugs for mini green houses. Works great on tomatoes and peppers

How warm does it stay in there ??

Great tutorial! But how do we fix it to a garden bed to stop it being blown away in windy areas?
I'd second this question! Great video, but it looks like it would be blown away by the wind?
Place a brick on top of it

First option is a bit expensive (56 feet total in wood, at $30 per 12 feet = $150). Second option is landfill, which makes me sad :(
