Each has their own roles in their child's life, yes. It does damage children if they don't have one in their life. There are millions of kids and adults who would agree, just speaking from what I've seen and also experience. It is harming to a little girl to not have a good mother figure in her life and vice versa for a little boy as well. Circumstances happen although avoidable and sometimes unavoidable.
When my father was 21 he was a single dad to 3 kids he spent 2 1/2 years working three jobs and barely seeing the kids however an accident caused him to go to the hospital where he met an intern who was my mom she helped my dad out tremendously and then they got married and had my brother and then me i’m 15 and I think it’s stupid how people say that single dads can’t be as good of a parent as single mom
At some point it made me so emotional,,, especially when the mother died and the struggle of raising the daughter,,, She grew up into a lil beautiful girl and funny too like Kevin Hart himself😂
I think a perfect cherry to the ending would have been doing another time-skip where Maddie is a teenager graduating high school as a valedictorian, and gives a speech praising her father as tears form in Matt's eyes.
Now days many women could be a good single mother therefore many kids are failed…some single dad could be a good care giver. I think parenthood is not gander issue!!

I mean yes you are r8 that mom goes through labor and 9 months pregnancy but remember if you didn't have a father you would not be born. Most of the times mothers spend time with the kids and father provides for the family specially when the child is little. Through gradual process of socialization, the child spends more time with the mother and less with the father. When the child grows up enough mother starts working outside with full flow. But when the child was little the mother already spent a lot of time with him which created a deep impact and more emotional connections with her. So the child is more tended to pick mothers over fathers. Now what happened if this was the opposite. The father spent more time with the child than the mother. Then the child would be more tended to pick the father instead of mother as favorite. Remember it's not everyone's case. Some ppl do pick father. But be remindful that in this world single fathers also exists along with single mothers and they deserve equal respects.
As a man who has had multiple babies alone in public I've not once had a person ask me where the mother is. I've been asked their age or been told they're cute but that's it
That's bull shit both my baby daddy took care of the kid like a woman and I would do a lot of manly things. So man are great care takers . It's those mama boys that act a fool or truly broken men that don't want that responsibility .
