Wow! +27 years later I can finally hear the full songs! This is incredible! The circle is now complete! Thank you so much! I've been listening to this on repeat for the past hours, amazing!
It is truly like reliving childhood again! :) I got the first satellite reciever in 1992 and the Astra Satellite was the first experience I had with satellite TV, those magic days I will never forget, even the excitement of the service man who installed the dish on the wall and so on, it was just like waiting to be connected to the wonders of TV from space. I also remember one early morning in 95~96 when zapping through the channels I came across a beautiful song, If I can remember correctly this was a information notice that TCC (The Childrens Channel) would either change location or be removed or something, I remember the music in the background was really nice. I guess it's not easy to be able to figure out what that could have been, but I am more than pleased to be able to hear these amazing compositions from the ASTRA broadcast. There is just some nostalgic feeling that is hard to pin point out, it's just such an wonderful feeling to be able to disappear into. ;)@@mibri
Thank you, a late yet big thank you. It's unbelievable to finally hear the full playlist so many years after. Back in 1992 I was shifting on the various audio carriers just to listen to the different languages. By far, the English version was the one with the shortest wording, which meant less promotional talk over the background musics! ❤
I promised myself that one day, I would learn where each and every piece of music from the informercial had come from! Wow. You've saved me so much effort!
These tunes bring back so many memories. The "original" (well, the 1994-1996 promo I grew up with) is still out there on TH-cam. In Sky's early days, they had it running 24/7 on one of the spare transponders, being a kid fascinated with space, and rockets, I must have watched it hundreds of times.
First track (Wolfgang Käfer, "Heroes"): I think the correct CD is CARLIN 104 (Wolfgang Käfer - Drama Suites 1). On CARLIN 147 there's also a track called "Heroes", but that's a complete different tune. I haven't got CARLIN 104 yet, but that seems to be the right one instead of CARLIN 147.
Hello! You're absolutely right about CARLIN 104 Drama Suites 1; the full version of 'Heroes' (as heard in the Astra promo, I believe) is featured on this album. uk.warnerchappellpm.com/track/cpm-car104-01/MzU4NTc0MTUtN2FmODA3 CARLIN 147 also features 'Heroes' twice, but these two tracks are shortened versions of it. www.warnerchappellpm.com/track/cpm-car147-03/MjU3MTEwMDctZTFmYjI1 So, because CARLIN 104 features the track in full and was released before CARLIN 146, I am happy to make a correction here. Thank you very much for alerting me to this! 😄
@@RadioXtra Yes, it's quite confusing! Anyway, thanks again, and I'm looking forward to spending some time with your uploads too - your channel looks excellent.
I still think that Dean, Madonne & Burdson's "Moonwalking 1" was intended to be a relatively royalty-free analogue of (or at least seriously influenced by) Jan Hammer's "Crockett's Theme". That said, it's one of the few pieces of the soundtrack that you can actually sit back and listen to as a song in its own right. This one is my favourite to just chill and enjoy 🙂
I was wondering. Since I found this video, it occurred to me that it would be cool to reupload the original Astra '94-96 promo in its entirety, with on-screen text showing the individual pieces of music used for each section. It was just an idea I had floating around and it's not at the top of my list of priorities, but given that you've done the legwork, along with your friend at librarymusicthemes, I thought I should ask if it would be okay. The way I see the video, it'd just have text identifying the music playing at that particular segment - for the full length version, they'd be directed to your video 🙂
Thank you for this! I have been looking for Astra music since I heard it first!
So great to hear the full songs after all this time! 😊👍
Thank you so much for your work, I love the Astra promo and all of its music! ❤

Unbelievable :-) Great work!!!
People like you are the reason TH-cam exists in the first place!
Thank you so much ❤
My pleasure. I was overjoyed when I finally managed to acquire all the audio for this, trust me!
@@mibri I believe you.
Thank you so much for the hard work!
If you can also remember the Astra channel guide scroller, then someone has uploaded the tune from that too: th-cam.com/video/BjC6Xi_TcBQ/w-d-xo.html

@@RS250Squid I was exactly the same; I could probably have recited the voiceover from memory at one point...!

You're also right. I did not noticed that's it's the same track, but only very short parts of it (on CARLIN 147).

every day i keep resisting getting the soundtrack pressed on vinyl for personal use, but probably one day the voices will get through :/
It's a pretty cool idea for a bootleg! 😁
@@mibri Now that would be a bootleg with a complicated history!

That's a good shout, I can hear it for sure. Even the little bursts of guitar leads are there!
Cool comparing
Awesome!

I certainly wouldn't and couldn't object to such a video existing, I don't own any of the relevant sound recordings after all.
Where did you get the second track "Colloque" from? I can't find it anywhere.
