Aw thanks so much!!! I promise I’ll eventually have more videos… I decided to have a behbeh and move across the country at the same time, so things have been hectic 😂🤣
Thank you for this video. I am new to the Spoonflower platform, and I wonder if it is advisable to format all artwork as a square dimension-wise and what color mode should the files be in? CMYK?
You can do any dimensions you want really, but I take into account the fabric I intend to print on first, and go based off of spoonflower’s listed width. You could easily do a square though, and as long as the pattern can continue itself on all sides, it would be perfect and save a little time too! Colour wise I just used CMYK, but it will convert to whatever they need in spoonflower, so def get test swatches because the colours definitely change on the cotton fabric. They used to have a little sampler you could buy that had swatches of a large collection of pantone colours and what they looked like once printed on cotton, but I have no idea if that is still something they offer. Hard to convert yourself to pantone anyway too, so I never really bothered with it. Hope this helps and thanks for watching 😊
Hello! Personally, I enjoy every minute of the video. Would you still suggest spoonflower as a good platform to upload designs in 2021 as a seller? If yes can you give any advice on how to work there?
Good question, I’m sorry I don’t have an answer for you though because I’ve never actually sold my designs on sooonflower. I keep them private for my own sampling needs. Wish I could be more helpful but let me do some research on this, and maybe I can make another video about it 😊😊
@@HappyYellowDress Don't worry about it, my mistake, I thought that you sell there. Thank you very much for taking the time to be informed. I appreciate it :)
This was a wonderful video. I love your humour throughout. My question is can you print on a black background and not white? Also I don’t have photo shop do we need it if we just draw something and upload the photo directly to SF? What if a friend asks you to print their logo on fabric. Do I still click the box that I have copyright to the image cause I do t I just have permission for a commissioned piece
Haha! Thank ya, glad you liked it! If you’re using spoonflower you can just design your fabric to have a black background, then it will print out looking like the fabric is black. In general when printing on anything you can’t put light colours over dark unless you do sublimation printing. No need to use photoshop for spoon flower. You can just scan your image or even take a clear picture of something you drew and it will work. Just make sure the background is as clean as possible because if there are any shadows, they will be printed too. If you have permission to print your friends logo, you can click that you own the image. It’s more for when people are selling their fabric designs that spoonfloow wants to make sure no one’s ripping off registered trademarks or copyrighted images, like Disney characters for example. Hope this helps! And thanks again for watching!!!! 😊😊
You could if you wanted to, but it would be insaaaanely expensive, and not even the big companies do it. The main culprits are also China, so you’d technically have to apply for copyrights in China as well, which would be another huge headache. It’s a huge problem unfortch! Thanks for the question though! Maybe I’ll make a video on it! There was an example where kate spade was able to successfully sue because of this, without even having a copyright. I’ll do more research on that and make a video on it soon!

I do not have so much size options, only the basic 3 sizes
Oh weird! Is that happening for every fabric type you select?
Do you have to take all your designs to a lawyer to get them copy righted?
