In an interview by Palestinian journalist Mohamed Shahin, an eight-year-old boy from Gaza shared his daily struggle. He collects Swiss chard close to the Israeli army, selling each bunch for three shekels in the market to support his father and siblings.
After his story spread on social media, people asked the journalist to make the boy promise that he wouldn’t risk his life again near the Israeli positions.

That child's face breaks my heart. So much suffering and lost of innocence at 8 years old. No child at his age should have to witness all the horror he has seen and suffered. At 8 risk his life everyday to feed what's left of his family. Humanity is lost 5 months and we can't stop this senseless madness this is beyond evil now. I pray to God that he survives and know what peace and security feels like again.

I see both a lot of pain and resilence in this boy's eyes. Like him, many Palestinian children don't deserve what they are enduring, and it is a terrible situation. I hope the pressure mounts to help them, Arab nations step up please! How can the world not love these children? Even his cheekiness' "You tell me what you do for a living!" he's got a brave heart and is strong beyond his 8 years. These boys are so bright, hard working, innovative and don't even need to smile for the camera to be seen and adored. Their spirit is strong and bright with a hope for a future. May God grant them a future of peace, prosperity, freedom and equality in their own land. God bless them and all the children of God in Gaza to every last man.
