25:40 - I understood what love was. Which was the opposite of craving. Craving is wanting to be something you're not. Love is accepting yourself for who you are.

What i learnt about this talk was that you should not expect things just because it sounds like a good idea at the time, and another thing i learnt is that i might be poor and doing well in life and everyone likes me, but there are a lot of people out there who can't function very well mainly because they are put on medication just because it keeps them calm, and that is because they want them to get teased, you see that is the Australian, christian way

    Buddhism -for wise men
This is a thing of old, Athula, not merely of today:they blame him who sits silent, they blame him who speaks much and they blame him of measured speech;none in the world is left unblamed ;there never was, there never will be and there is not to be seen today,a man who is completely blamed or a man who is completely praised.

I find that I sometimes have to "grow into talks", meaning the wisdom might not be apparent to me at the time of viewing but on being mindful of that aspect of your life you eventually understand I haven't grown into this one yet. Maybe because when he was talking about the reasons for traveling I didn't hear him speak about visiting family and the humility you gain from seeing the perspectives of others and I couldn't get into it after that.

I came here to find some answers, yet I see a man whose perspective I find quite limited and limiting. I will never trade my travels for anything. Do I really need to say that looking at google pictures is not nearly the same? Or that the Niagara falls are nothing like the shower?..And try having an extended family in a studio apartment. I grew up in an environment of constant bickering because no one had their own space to cool off and chill. Even chickens will start fighting when put in too small a space.
Also, I have spent years trying to accept and love myself the way I am. Until I got fed up, took care of my acne, and worked my butt off to get an athletic physique, a.k.a. did something to become someone I wasn't, which is craving and lack of love. I couldn't have made a better decision.

What is hell and what is heaven?
Is seeing believing? Or is it just a mental projection, an illusion? Things are never that simple in this REAL world, where things are neither black or white but fuzzy and quantum-mechanical.
If Buddha is really in hell, then I say it is a great blessing for those people in hell, who get to learn from the Buddha! Bravo! :) FYI, some Buddhist schools believe that there is a Bodhisattva who choose to stay in hell to help people.
It's All a Matter of Perception.

Capitalist exert immense pressure on us all. Many in world have little chance of obtaining this 'dream". So Aj Brahm is taking an exaggerated stance in opposite direction so that maybe we take an average and end up in the middle ground.

I like Yuttahdhamo as well, but perhaps you should as yourself why you feel this way. Sometimes when we have certain feelings about someone or something, we are actually projecting what we really see in ourselves, or feel about ourselves. How we feel about things are attachments that cause us suffering. I always try to meditate on things I don't like and accept it, then let it go. I wish you much happiness and luck in your ventures.

Desiring to liberate every being in the cosmos is just another form of craving. That person may be actually clinging to something else, not to the liberation of every being. In either case, he cannot attain Nibbana - desires obstruct. The Bodhisattva vow is like a person who keeps eating even after he is full, claiming he wants everyone else in the restaurant to leave before him. Many people may be fooled, but not all.
The Buddha never mentioned Bodhisattva vow. It is a fabrication added later.

You see, what ever happened to talk therapy, Australians think talk therapy is inviting a man to get drunk with and when he tells him his problems, he laughs and yells in his face, and that is why i don't talk to people in clubs anymore, because they don't give a toss about me, just because i made a few mistakes, but the problem with saying that is that when another friend makes a mistake that is much worst than me, they gather round him, like the queen of fucken England, excuse the french

Ajahn, if someone offered you a donation of a millionaire doll of it the society would you take it? If yes then why is that different than a single person taking that money and using it for good? You always mention donations do you want big donations if so is that stupid like someone wanting a million dollars. Why assume one person is worse at using wealth to help others than a group or society?

I've listened to Ajahn Brahm a lot...I may have heard everything on youtube...and i've been so enlightened by his talks.
But I think he's getting to be a bit of ego maniac, his tone is becoming condescending. His comments on travel are the most ridiculous I've ever heard. I would not trade my trips to Paris and visiting the Eiffel Tower for anything, and there are many other travels that I've loved.. I think he's got a point about craving, but he calls someone in the audience stupid!

Never in the mood for his sing-song tone of voice. It's like he's talking down to children. Unsubbing. Anyone looking for videos on Buddhism that are less patronizing, check out Yuttahdhamo's "Ask a Monk" series.
