  • VITAMIN HAY is a Fleischer Studios short film distributed by Paramount Pictures. It was released on August 22, 1941.
It's time for lunch, and Spunky (the baby donkey) is expected to feed on healthy (and awful-tasting) Vitamin Hay. He resists and wanders out of the barn to look for more interesting things to eat.
The film was produced by Max Fleischer, directed by Dave Fleischer and Myron Waldman who's uncredited. Animation is by David Tendlar and Otto Feuer. The music is by Sammy Timberg.
This cartoon was apart of the Color Classics which was a series of animated short films produced by Fleischer Studios for Paramount Pictures from 1934 to 1941 as a competitor to Walt Disney's Silly Symphonies.
This film is in the public domain meaning it has been identified as being free of known restrictions under copyright law, including all related and neighboring rights. You can copy, modify, distribute and perform the work, even for commercial purposes, all without asking permission. Corporations lobbied Congress to get U.S. copyright laws extended by 20 years, twice! Because of that, it allows published works to be under copyright for almost a century and corporations to squeeze every last ounce of profit from them even long after the profitability has past. It keeps people from enjoying art, which is the purpose of art.
