I’ve been skeptical for a couple of years until last week. I purchased 2 of them because I was just sick of setting up awkward platforms for small jobs. I wish I had bought them a long time ago. I just used them on a 12 pitch. It took about 5 minutes to feel comfortable with them. Amazing product.
I've been building my own out of scrap plywood and foam for more than 35 years...I learned this trick from a roofer that had worked on steep roofs in California in the late 1960's and early 70's...my foam of choice was called "superlite" and was used by backpackers as a sleeping pad...at any rate, these are easily site-built for a fraction of the cost of purchasing them...I've got 3 or 4 pairs and if they're kept out of the weather they'll last for many roofing jobs...all that said, good fall protection equipment is a must on any roof...having watched a 24 year old worker on a nearby job fall 18 feet and end up in a wheel chair for life is a sobering experience...safety on the job site is rarely addressed by TH-cam presenters and this is really unfortunate...at any rate, be safe...
Having fallen off a roof just 2 weeks ago, it scares me to see him hopping around on this thing. A fractured pelvis was the limit of my injuries but that's painful enough. I'm going to be extra cautious in the future.
The good news is there was still scaffolding with a hand rail. Had I fallen, it would have been two feet at most. ;) When we were using these, we also tethered off.
@@csflmich2239 I'm a home inspector and know two guys who fell off roofs, one of them twice. Both of them didn't and couldn't work for a year give or take but then went back to it, the other guy fell again I heard but still managed to live but is now retired. I've heard of many folks falling to their deaths as well in our industry. I actually was on an inspection once and it was a two and a half story condo, the AC condenser was on the roof. I told my client I would not be able to get on the roof to look at the roof and the AC unit (roof was HOA owned anyway), he understood. His realtor called a few minutes later and he was telling him what I said and he handed me the phone and the realtor started ripping into me saying I had to get on the roof and was going on and on. I told him I didn't have a ladder that tall and didn't have to get on a roof if it was dangerous, he kept yelling at me so I hung up and told they guy I was sorry but I was not going to do the inspection and left. The realtor was completely clueless as to what I have to do as an inspector and was a complete ass. It kind of felt good to tell him to kick rocks and walk. I felt bad for the client but sometimes you have to cut bait and go fishing.
They are fantastic, but you really need a minimum of three per roofer. They save a lot of time as opposed to roof jacks, although we still keep one set of them at the eave of the roof for "just in case". The Pitch Hoppers are solid on the roof until... you step too much to the inside along the shingles or onto the outside ends, then the unexpectedly slip... and you scream like a schoolgirl. They are made from high density beadboard type styrofoam.
Put your knee pads on so when you fall to the shingles as your sliding down the roof at least your knees will be fine other parts maybe not on ground level!
It really did! It made the job a whole lot easier than fighting roof brackets! We still tied off with retractable leads and harnesses, obviously safety first. ;)
A little bit. But we are talking about a 9/12 pitch. With tie offs, it's definitely not a pass for us! You still have to be safe, but it's a lot easier to navigate with these than using other methods.

Thats the perfect device for the Secret Service, considering sloped roofs seem to be their Achilles heels...
@fg146 Indeed 🤣🤣🤣
You beat me to it.
Came here to find this reference.
🙌
I don’t know. It doesn’t look like it would be usable in heels.
A bought ten of those on TEMU they were 5$ a piece should be by winter of 2024 great buy .

Kudos to the account name! No copywrite infringement and gets the point across! One of my favorite movies!
Looks like an excellent product. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! I love it! I have a 9/12 pitched roof and never feel comfortable on it.

Safety first for sure! We used harnesses and tied off.

He is using a high scaffolding system
This looks to be a great product. Wonder how that bottom holds up through an entire Summer of shingles that absorb 120 degrees?
Probably start to pull down off nails in extreme heat if sitting in one spot too long.
Lets see some work being done
Foam from living room sofas works pretty good in a pinch
The Secret Service needs one for a slightly sloped roof.
Can you believe no one in the S.S. has been held accountable!! The cover up is so blatantly obvious. The democrat machine will stop at nothing.
If you think it's expensive, fall off a roof and get back to me with that cost.
Exactly what I was thinking!

ladders last longer, foam??? maybe one hour job of moving around

📻🎶 it needs to play music 👍
Imagine inspecting a large roof solo with a pair of these and you drop one…
and if it rains
You go inside where it is dry... I've never been a fan of being on a wet, steep roof.
Help step roof I'm stuck and can't get down
They're nice, but I'd rather just have roof Jack's, cheap, and whatever length you need
Put your knee pads on so when you fall to the shingles as your sliding down the roof at least your knees will be fine other parts maybe not on ground level!
I also wear jeans when working on the roof, shingles can be rough in your skin. ;)
It’s all fun and games until someone falls off the roof. Hope saving a little money pays off for you in end bro…

what about a roof with a lot of moss to clean from the top down? would it work?
They will find it right next to your body on the ground
Why wouldn't you tie off?
@@1D10CRACY where is the fun in that?
Too bad the secret service didn't have some of these
roof roof 🐶
You can see it sliding down the roof as he moves around. Pass.
