The Kabar is a fine tool. They have been successfully used for generations with no issue. I have used one to survive for a year in the Bush myself. Our ancestors left their tangs soft on everything from knives to swords. A hard tang was not wanted nor was it necessary. They understood that a bent tang can be straightened & a broken one has to be reforged &/or reground.

The Kabar is a time tested design if it didn't work it wouldn't still be around. I still aim to get a Kabar myself at some point.

The first new big knife I bought after Navy boot camp over 20 years ago at the exchange was a k-bar next generation in 12c27. Bought the 1095 USN version of the knife a couple of years ago to go with it.
The Kabar will do almost all what we need it to do as nice vid to show it....Good stuff....
The Kabar is stronger than most you tube experts give it credit . The knife is fine as long as your not beating pipes or prying car doors open . Cold Steel Leatherneck is a good budget alternative .
Here's the truth of the matter and nobody would ever admit this there is a strong undercurrent of hate for American made knives don't believe me look at what gets broke the most. And it has nothing to do with the weakness of the steel but it has everything to do with the type of test it's always been amazing to me how certain quote unquote knife reviewers treat certain knives compared to their continent's favorite

Great review on the Ka-Bar, USMC knife. I own several Ka-Bars the first one I ever owned my father gave to me which was issued to him when he was in the military in the 1950s I’ve never had any issues using the Ka-Bars. The Ka-Bar is more than a knife. It’s a piece of Military history. I know there’s a lot of Ka-Bar haters Saying you can’t depend on Ka-Bar in a survival situation hell in a survival situation, I’d make a old hickory butcher knife work , like you said Scab it’s all in your skill set and how you use a knife. I found a BK7 with a melted handle in the dumpster at work from crap cleaned up from a hobo camp near the University I work at. I bought a new handle for $30 and sharpened it. Great knife!

I have always loved the Kabar. I like the way it looks, and if you do reasonable knife stuff with it, it will hold up just fine.
Like these knives but i'd love to see them offer a 'left' handed sheath also . But i love the leather in the handle and sheath... great jobs on the weight loss, everything in life is easier when leaner

It knifes as a knife should. It's much less expensive than similar knives as well. What makes it a good combat knife to me is the amount of torture it can endure. Yes it needs frequent sharpening and they often come rather dull but it's very capable to do any reasonable task and I would trust it to do whatever I need to do with it. Great demonstration.
Facebook logic; If you go into the woods with this knife you're going to die. Hahaha! This thing really is a great hunting knife. While it's not a "fighting" knife, I sure as hell wouldn't want it in my ribs.

I’ve had Kabars since the early 90s and use them religiously for a long time. I don’t use them anymore but when I see stupid comments about kabars being garbage it makes my eyes roll. I’ve absolutely beat the hell out of my kabars and they ain’t garbage

Absolutely nothing wrong with that knife. I would get a knife and take it out and test the hell out of it (But) why would I do that when I have a Scab to do it plus I know when I head to the woods with a knife you tested I have peace of mind knowing I won't have a problem. Great Vid and it did how I thought it would.
I like the blade shape, I like the handle. For utility use, it's probably fine. I just thing that they could upgrade the design by adding a full tang.

A Kabar Short version with leather sheath ages like fine wine . It's one of the coolest looking EDC"s,
The Dogs Head edition has no top guard for better thumb placement. If someone wants one for outdoor camping stuff, that's the one I'd go with.

Brother, great video. There are many better survival knives out there but there is nothing wrong with the great old KaBar. I have used KaBar knives since the 70's and have never had one fail. I enjoyed the video very much.
The key to using any tool is knowing its limitations. The Kabar certainly won't build a log cabin but will do fine with a lean-to.

Love my Ka-Bar it's served me well through 12 years military service in 2 different branches of military service. I agree I wish had a full tang but it did great for me... i wish the BK-7 or BK-9 was a thing back when I joined i might have bought one of those instead.

The rat tail tang isn't an issue because it's not a survival knife, it's a fighting knife, it's like expecting a stiletto to be good for wood carving

All those KA-BAR haters are the same who bitch and moan about a dozen other knives with which they have no real world experience. They’re the same folks who would piss on a Victorinox or other multi-tool/folder because they can’t baton it through a 14” diameter piece of seasoned oak. While they’re standing on the sidelines 💩💩’ing all over themselves based on unrealistic, silly survival hypotheticals, the rest of us will continue forward.

Actually skill set will help most of the other problems with ka bars.. that was the point of the entire video I did everything I would ever do with a knife and it held up fine

How does it feel on the belt.
Is it light or dose it feel clunky on the hip?
Man it's pretty light. And here's the deal this is kind of crazy you ask this I actually put it on my belt the past two nights I have a couple of these so I wore my old one a few nights in a row and I wore this one last night on my walk I walk for an hour every night and honestly it rides pretty well it tends to drift towards the back if that makes sense
If the damn thing worked for the USMC for decades, if it worked for Blackie Thomas for...decades in the woods then it'll work. Now if the Marine broke one, you found another, probably on the body of a fallen brother, which increased its value. But if WE break ours we gotta buy it. So I dont😂 To me it'll do what you did here and that's plenty for me. Im not military . I was disqualified due to CP from birth. Actual physical disability. But I support the military members of our nation, love and honor them. So I buy the knives they are issued if I like them. Are there better. Yes. If they made a larger KBAR in 3V, even better
