Hi doctor and everyone... My brother has been suffering from SI Joint and Ankle joint pain and inflammation since August 2020. When we consulted orthopaedic he told us to take blood tests ESR, CRP, CBC, LFT, HLAB27 and ANA Profile. On September We had taken these tests and Resulted ESR - 65, CRP - 29, WBC - 15k+, LFT- Normal, HLA B27 and ANA Profiles are Negative. After results doctor said that it is Inflammatory arthritis and probably AS. He has been taking medications since september and no better improvements. Now he is having pain in Neck, Shoulder back too. Last month we consulted Rheumatologist and doctor advised to take SAAZ 1gm twice a day, dolocam DT once a day, Sompraz once a day and Folitrax and Folvite weekly. Are we in correct treatment? Pls help me

My wife was taking Etofine90 for 12 days, her symptoms reduced (pain in wrist, ankle, neck, shoulders, fingers). But she was developing itching and red pimples on face, neck, back and thigh. Do not stop medications without consulting your rheumatologist. They need to tapered slowly keeping a watch on the AS activity. Saaz can rarely lower the sperm count in the long term. This is generally reversible on stopping it.

If he has been taking etacept for a long time & the joints are swollen, you need some more meds like methotrexate to be added to control his AS. Pl see your rheumatologist & discuss with him. The aim of therapy is remission which means absence of swelling in any joint.

hello dr, i got diagnosed with AS and IBD four months back and I've been prescribed saaz and indomethacin... but few sites mention nsaid shouldn't be taken with ibd but my doctor suggests that saaz will also make ibd better... can i trust this medication because I'm too afraid about things if it'll go wrong in the early stages and leave problems later... I've also been having a continuous diarrhea for a week what should i do about it
Saaz does help in IBD. However indomethacin may trigger the loose motions in a few. If you feel the loose motions are increasing on taking indomethacin do talk to your rheumatologist about it.

Sulphasalazine is quite a safe medicine. Kidney issues are rare with Sulphasalazine.

My wife has AS. She did not respond to Aspira, Saaz, Tofacitinib & TP450. All medicines were prescribed together. Now she has been told to take Etoricoxib from today. Is this right move?

My wife was taking Etofine90 for 12 days, her symptoms reduced (pain in wrist, ankle, neck, shoulders, fingers). But she was developing itching and red pimples on face, neck, back and thigh. Dr has advised to stop etofine & start Indocap sr75. She is taking only Indocap sr75 now for last 3 days. Symptoms are back, pain is moderate. Please guide Sir, if we are on track.

Do not stop medications without consulting your rheumatologist. They need to tapered slowly keeping a watch on the AS activity. Saaz can rarely lower the sperm count in the long term. This is generally reversible on stopping it.

Pregabalin is not a medication for AS. It is used for fibromyalgia associated with AS or nerve compression associated with AS.

AS generally does not affect the lungs directly. It can affect the joints that ribs have with the vertebrae. This causes restriction of their movement & restricts breathing.

If he has been taking etacept for a long time & the joints are swollen, you need some more meds like methotrexate to be added to control his AS. Pl see your rheumatologist & discuss with him. The aim of therapy is remission which means absence of swelling in any joint.

You need to find out the cause of increased SGOT & SGPT. If treatable, treat it. You may require a gastroenterologist opinion for the same.
There may be a challenge in majority of the AS medications if SGOT SGPT is very high.

Sir, I am having peripheral spodylo-arthrities & on 1mg sulphasalazine bd since last three months but no measure improvement. I have to take etoricoxib atleast twice/thrice in a week. Can I switch over to methotrexate & lefumide.

My son is 6 years old. He had a symptoms of JIA 2 months before.
He had a steroid after doctor prescription and got cured within an hour.
Now he has no symptoms from last two months.
Shoul he start medication? Or should he wait for any further symptoms? Or should we carry out further test. His ESR was found increased during his symptoms. Also his HLA B27 result was positive.

i got diagnosed with AS and IBD four months back and I've been prescribed saaz and indomethacin... but few sites mention nsaid shouldn't be taken with ibd but my doctor suggests that saaz will also make ibd better... can i trust this medication because I'm too afraid about things if it'll go wrong in the early stages and leave problems later... I've also been having a continuous diarrhea for a week what should i do about it
Saaz does help in IBD. However indomethacin may trigger the loose motions in a few. If you feel the loose motions are increasing on taking indomethacin do talk to your rheumatologist about it.

Saaz can cause acidity. Have your meals on time & ask your doctor to prescribe an antacid.
