When I was in Greece ten years ago, I went to this nice beach which had large rocks in shallows. I got into water by basically skipping all over them with no trouble, but when I was swimming back out, I saw that rocks were now covered with dozen sea urchins. I swam all the way back out of the water until I literally hit the sand with my face since there was no chance I was gonna put my foot on those rocks ever again. It was a rather cool experience now that I think about it.

If I'm not mistaken, there are a certain types of fish which usually eat these sea urchins. They have a beak like mouth, making it easier for them to crack open these creatures and eat their insides. But other than these specific types of fishes, sea urchins don't normally have much predators due to how well they are protected by all those spines and also the fact that there isn't much to eat inside of em, no meat whatsoever, only these yellowish "organs" which isn't worth it enough for a fish to spend it's time and energy on trying to eat em up 😅 But little do they know, humans joined the chat 💀

I recognize where some of the clips you used come from. And why am I not surprised you didn't credit any of your sources/material?

I never knew about the pincers for sure. Seems I vaguely remember something about the tube feet but not the suction cups. Pretty damn cool

Bruh! What the heck is "not" a delicacy in Japan??
They would eat literal dog shit with some soy sauce and call it delicacy 😂.

When I was in Puerto Rico a few years ago there was a day where we all went down to the beach for awhile. There were rocks all around and with those came the urchins. I put my hand out to touch one and did it without a problem. Then I called my brother and my dad over so I could do it again. That thing puffed out and stung me underneath the nail in my middle finger 🖕

So if an adult shell is a test, is a juvenile shell a quiz? And would cracking the test to get to the meats be cheating?

Bizarre but annoying when you are going to the sea. If the beach is full of them you have to wear specific shoes
