Rachel, I love your videos but I found this one really jarring with the volume going so much louder on the music. I had to keep adjusting the volume between soft vocals and louder music. Hopefully in the future you’ll balance it a bit more?
Lisa W108 I loved this video, but I noticed the same thing. I kept turning the volume down during the music, but then up again during the speaking. I thought maybe it was just me.
The fix later page is an insanely useful idea! 💕 Sometimes, I'll jot it down on paper beside me & keep going. But most often, I type it right into my document where the repair work idea came to me. I'll use it for my word count & I highlight it in my 'notes to self' colour. If there's a running a theme of corrections or it's massive enough to create a block in the story, I create a new page in my Scrivener for it. So I can build a solution. Sometimes that helps to unstick me & I can keep going with the draft. Love your daily journal ideas, too! 💕 Happy planning! 🍁🍁
Love the bullet journal! There's something that someone told me during Nano 2016 and that's become my go-to quote whenever my inner editor shows up : I write crap, but it's easier to edit crap than to edit nothing
Your bullet journals always look so pretty and aesthetically pleasing lol I tried to make one and failed miserably, so I made it a brain dump journal instead, its been working out really well! Excited to participate in the very first official Nanowrimo this year!
Fan-freaking-tastic! Lots of great ideas in this video. Also, so far you are the only person who doesn’t make me roll my eyes when they talk about affirmations.
Did you ever watch Inspector Gadget? No, the cartoon in the 80's, not that live action monstrosity! Penny had this book with pages in it that were different kinds of computers and electronics. When I was a kid I made a notebook and drew pictures for different gadget and that was my spy book, like Penny had. I loved the idea of a book that was highly personal, that I had designed, and that was set up to help me do whatever needed the doing. Watching you create this was fantastic and inspiring. It was like you were making your own Penny-book! It's great that you took time to make it look nice too. Aesthetics matter. I wanted to use yours and it wasn't even personalized to me. I have never been an organized person before, but you've definitely made me want to give bullet journal-ing a try! Thanks for making this great video. 100 pastry points to Slytherin! (I'm Slytherin, I don't know what house you are but I'm going to guess this is fine)
So pretty and so functional! I love the idea of tracking what you learned. I need to get better about that because I feel like every NaNoWriMo I spend so much time just remembering how I did things or what worked for me that it tends to set me back.
Have you ever considered creating an empty bullet journal template and selling it? Your graphic designs are extraordinary. Your journals are beautiful. You could make a fortune. Cheers!
Love the idea of putting pictures in! I found this really helpful as I’ve struggled in the past to come up with spreadsheets for NaNo. Thanks for this!
You see me practicing the doodles on scrap paper in the beginning though! I figured out the designs first, I’m not some kind of natural doodle genius 😂
It's so beautiful! Thank-you for showing us your technique Rachael. It was fun to see you set up the pages and really informative to see how you're going to take on Nano. Hayley ^_^
I love your set up so much! I never thought about completely living in just my writing bullet journal during NaNoWriMo but now I'm heavily considering it. I definitely picked up some inspiration from your pages. 😊
Thanks so much for this (and all your videos tbh) -- you definitely helped inspire me to set up my own NaNo journal, and even put up a little flip through video of it. (I also love your simple designs and art.) All your Preptober content has been super helpful for me this year and I'm excited for tomorrow... :)
Love this- I really like the daily spread where you fill in your total word count and color the box in if you met your word goal. Also I’d love to see a video about subplots.... I’ve started outlining my NaNo novel using the plot embryo (and it worked so well! ♥️) but am having trouble adding things outside the main plot
Hot damn. I don't even have time to watch this video in one sitting, I would never have time to set up a journal like this! It's gorgeous and I'm sure it'll be great to use fit anyone who builds one, but seriously. Evernote and Google calendar are the only tools I have time to use day to day, and I'll live in libre office for NaNo (Linux user here, no scrivener for me 😢)
excellent vid! I had a ferociously geeky thought/suggestion -- At about 6:45 you have completed your page spread maths and you mention that you would put the dimensions of your tracker boxes in the description - I'm not actually seeing those in the description but it got me thinking that, since my BuJo is a different size what would really be a helpful time-saver in these layout tips would a little quick write-up summary of HOW you got to your dimensions -- (for instance:: I took the part of the spread that i wanted to put the tracker boxes in, and counted the number of dots horizontally and vertically, multiplied them for the number of dots in the area i'd use on one page, doubled that number to get the total for a two-page spread and divided it by the number of boxes i needed. That gave me the total "area" available for each box and its spacing from its neighbor -- around 55 and a half dots, which I can get with an area roughly 5 dots high by 11 dots wide. Then I just counted dots and made a grid within which I could draw each tracker box). ( I know, I know - I am an extreme case of geek and this is probably only interesting to me... :o) ) MANY THANKS for your materials though - most helpful.
Absolutely love those pens you use. What kind are they? I totally need to pick me some up. Thank you for the inspirational BuJo too, can't wait to get mine set for NaNo this weekend.
You are so visually artistic I wonder if you've ever considered also writing/illustrating a children's book and/or something for adults like "Griffin and Sabine." Thanks so much for this inspiring videos!
I was actually an artist all through school and didn’t get into the art school I wanted to - did philosophy instead and discovered NaNoWriMo and ended up writing much more... but I was convinced I was going to be an artist when I was a teenager!
Your bullet journal is really pretty, I love the colors you picked! I'm personally not participating in NaNo but I want to start writing a little everyday so I love watching this kind of videos. It's also really interesting seeing how other people organize/plan their month and writing goals. Could you tell me what song you used as background music? I really liked it!
Yay! Preptober! *throws confetti and pumpkin spice* Just printed out the checklist to stick in my Happy Planner! And is it just me, or is the 4thewords coupon not working for anyone else?
Angie - I went to Pexels.com, which has free photos that can be used for personal or commercial use without royalties or attribution. I searched “fall” and found some amazing pictures for this project. :)
This setup was very time consuming because I decided to be Aesthetic for youtube and included a TONNE of spreads for inspiration but bullet journaling is what you make it and you could definitely do a very simplified setup which would still be very useful. I only started incorporating the artistic stuff after a year of being really minimalist.
Exactly what Rachel said. Bullet journaling is what you make of it. I spend more time on my bujo now than I did in the early days but the extra time on that has been taken from mindless scrolling on my phone. I’m way more productive generally since using a bullet journal and having that extra time and space to be creative has improved my mental health no end. I recommend finding out about the basics of the system from Ryder Carroll and trying it out. Start simply and see where it takes you.
This is such a gorgeous spread! Where did you get all the beautiful photos, did you take them yourself? I'm not sure I'll do one this year because I don't even have a writing bullet journal yet, but I will definitely use this for inspiration next year!
Hey I loved this video so useful and beautiful? I wanted to know where you got your images and did you get them printed somewhere special? They're so glossy and on heavy material!
I just found your channel and I know it's already November, but I would love to get the preptober checklist. Is there any way to do that? Or can I still get it by signing up for emails?
I can't be the only one who has total Nanowrimo Bullet Journal envy now... So beautiful AND functional!
Same here. I also thought the particular song was kind of annoying itself. But the volume definitely needs to be adjusted.

Am I the only one noticing she gave November 31 days or are my eyes playing tricks on me? November only has 30 days right?
Oh, yeah. It's a new thing. November has 31 days now so that we can have a smidge more hope of winning. Really. (Ssshhhh....)
lol I didn't notice until you said something. Oops!
If only XD
Her brain was probably thinking it was doing October's days and got the numbers confused
Just an extra place to put a doodle!

your handwriting is satisfyingly beautiful.
Fan-freaking-tastic! Lots of great ideas in this video. Also, so far you are the only person who doesn’t make me roll my eyes when they talk about affirmations.
2:13 Experience applied in practice. LOL meaning, tea goes bye-bye!
The crafty artistry is fantastic. 👏👏

Thank you!! I've been watching your videos this morning and already started on my bullet journal, so this is perfect timing!!😀
thank you so much for creating this community

These spreads are the cutest things!! Inspired AND envious 😂
Definitely going to implement some of these spreads! I love the "fix it later" spread. Thanks for all this!
How are you so insanely talented? I can't believe you just *free-handed* that whole front page!
You see me practicing the doodles on scrap paper in the beginning though! I figured out the designs first, I’m not some kind of natural doodle genius 😂
Your bullet journal is gorgeous ! And full of great ideas. Thanks !
Stunning spreads, total bujo envy now!
Definitely going to be incorporating some of these into my bujo! Thanks Rachel :D

So beautiful! My Nanowrimo Bullet Journal set up is on my to do list, thanks for the inspo!
I love your set up so much! I never thought about completely living in just my writing bullet journal during NaNoWriMo but now I'm heavily considering it. I definitely picked up some inspiration from your pages. 😊
That sounds hilarious and fun!! Must try it!
Might have squealed when I got the notification for the video
Might have smiled when I got this comment

GORGEOUS. What kind of pen are you using?
Such a lovely spread!
Love this so much! What type of journal is that?
I really wish I could make bullet journal like you. Could you make for me? LOL. Great video
Wow! this is amazing!

Yay! Preptober! *throws confetti and pumpkin spice* Just printed out the checklist to stick in my Happy Planner!
And is it just me, or is the 4thewords coupon not working for anyone else?
Oh dear! What happens when you try to use it?
Had a small bug with coupon codes, they should be working now :) Thanks for giving us a try and hope you enjoy the monster battles!
Love this look!
Gorgeous work!
Its just so beautiful!!!!
Love your spreads Rachael! Can I ask where you got all those beautiful photos?
I was wondering this too! Came here to see if there was a link in the description. ;)
Angie - I went to Pexels.com, which has free photos that can be used for personal or commercial use without royalties or attribution. I searched “fall” and found some amazing pictures for this project. :)
And now I REALLY want to bullet journal...looks like a time consuming process though

Helpful! Thanks! :)
Hey I loved this video so useful and beautiful? I wanted to know where you got your images and did you get them printed somewhere special? They're so glossy and on heavy material!
FreePrints app!
I've been waiting for this! ❤
Love love love this!
I LOVE THIS 💙💙💙 (though I am wondering, what’s your project?? I thought you’re in revisions for NotE?)
I am! But I’ll probably convert wordcount into pages revised
I just found your channel and I know it's already November, but I would love to get the preptober checklist. Is there any way to do that? Or can I still get it by signing up for emails?
Yup, still by emails!
Are you using a laser printer?
No I use the FreePrints app!
you could make a ton of money designing and printing and selling the bullet journal pages, girl!
This is just so cluttered. I need my Writers notebook to have writing not art class decoupage.
Thrilled to reveal that this is not your notebook and you can do whatever the hell you like with yours
So stupid. This awful high volumed music and then not any voice at all.. Can not watch this.
