We do keep growing. Always shipping more milk, and we bought another 40 acres of land this year. I wouldn't make my decision based on money or scale of the farm. I would base it off of experience and opportunities.
@@ourfarmstory I suppose that in that system of being there there doesn't seem to be a problem of mastitis or hoof problems such as lameness or anything like that since the legs are always dry. I want to learn a little more.
We have very few feet and leg problems once a year we trim all of the hoofs and we will be good till next year. Because the feet stay dry and they also get to go out on pasture and use them.

This is part of the dairy industry problem and why its failing. Talk to your folks about expanding, it doesn't have to be a huge jump. Buy into the herd and equipment.
If you don't take an off farm job right after school, you probably never will. Once you stay home on family farm, that will be your future.

He keeps the cows tied up all the time, milks them and they eat and rest, and how effective this system is.
They go outdoors. It's a tie-stall
They go outside during the summer months. So then the tie stall barn functions just like a parlor barn. But during the winter, they are inside.

Talk to your Dad on what he thinks your should do, then talk to yourself on what you want out of life.
