I'll have to check that out must have been a center fill silo where the unloader turns to spread the feed.

@@ourfarmstory yeah I think all of his main silos run centerfill. And a wireless camera failing buried 1 unloader lol. I think he is hard wired

Yep, original tires from 1986! At some point, they will have to be replaced along with the rims.

I've watched that channel for a long time! Those 132 by 24-foot silos hold a lot of feed! One of those silos holds more feed than both of ours combined. Should be a pretty nice setup when it's running good and feeding cows with automated feeding!

Most are ranger red, but there is an Attico and a Swingman heifer in those pens as well.

Yeah...I wish there were more options for red sires but it's pretty limited.

Ranger red is very popular in B.C we have a few of them heifers

Valmetal was a great silo unloader for us! Dad bought it for 500$ back in 2006 with the silo was only used 1 year, but it was an older unloader. After 10 years of using it we started to have a hard time getting parts for it so my parents priced out unloaders and went with patz because of cost and because that's what the other silo already had. They got there 500$ back for the used unloader on the trade in program.

@ourfarmstory thanks we got a patz barn cleaner, never skips a beat, but the exchange rate kills us where valmetal is relatively good price. Otherwise, i would rather the patz equipment

Exchange rate kills. That's why our new winch is a yellow jacket made in Ontario.

Interesting. We use shavings in the heifer barn during the summer, but unfortunately, shavings have become quite expensive!

Very nice! When I only have only wagon available, I'll stack 2 rows on top. So a 20-foot wagon can hold 14. Then I'll grab a spear bale to make it an even 15. Sure takes a long time to haul bales!

I really used to love working with the equipment and didn't like the cows as much. Now I like both a lot. Wouldn't farm without dairy cows. I get to do a lot of equipment work because that's what is available for me to do. My mom really likes working with the cows. So I work with the equipment more. Works well for us.

🤣 the guys that were working on the one silo unloader last week said that to me, too. I just never do it. I never learned that way. I'd imagine it would get pretty hot wearing a sweater to climb silo. The odd time when it's really hot out or when the feed really bugs me I'll climb the silo with no shirt on, so then the haylage and heat doesn't bug me.

@@ourfarmstory no shirt…that’s even worse haha. I think a hoodie works great. Keeps the feed from falling on my head and going down my neck.

John deere it was a 3950. No processer. Worked alright it had a couple of breakdowns, but it was getting older and didn't have a processor.

I've heard good things about them. I've never seen one in Ontario yet. Lots of guys have either Dion, Meyer, or Miller Pro.
