Loulou & Coco's diet. Loulou has been on this diet since we got her as a puppy (slowly switched over) and Coco since she was able to eat solid food. We show their diet because there are always many questions about it. It is not to persuade anyone. We know what we're doing. The diet is different every week with as much variety as possible. For Loulou & Coco, this diet works perfectly. They look good, slim, active, flexible, good 💩and their blood values are perfect.
Most of it has been frozen long enough and thawed the night before in the fridge. The diet is not very expensive because this is ‘waste’ meat. Which is indispensable for a raw diet for dogs. They need everything for a complete diet: Muscle meat, bones, cartilage, organs, skin/hair/feathers.
They get a 90% meat, 10% vegetable. A carnivores diet.
    xxx Eveline

There’s nothing to beat the sight of Loulou putting away a whole quail! She and Coco both look wonderfully healthy.
My mum’s dachshund Denis ate what she did: that is, if mum had meat pie and roast potatoes, followed by apple tart and custard, so did Denis. In between meals if she thought he “looked hungry” she would give him cookies and chocolate - horribly bad for dogs, but mum would not listen to reason. He became extremely overweight and died young. Mum was distraught, but she fed her next dog in pretty much the same way, with the same results. She considered herself a dog lover, but was completely clueless on how to care for one. Sadly, I think there are many well-meaning people like her.

Kibble is so expensive in Alaska that many of us have our dogs on raw diets. It's less expensive to harvest our own meat, fish, and eggs. Most dogs do very well on it. My dogs also love wild blueberries when they are in season.

I am very impressed with the raw diet that you feed your two adorable mini Dachshunds. After loosing my two Golden Retrievers to cancer at the young age of eight years old, I did research and I am convinced that the kibble, even though I fed them a high end kibble, was probably the reason why they came down with cancer. I now have a seven month old miniature Dachshund who I am feeding a frozen raw food diet. I live in Massachusetts and found a company, VIVA Raw , and I am feeding my puppy their food. I just bought some quail eggs and will give her those in addition to the raw food. I might even buy some chicken necks. After seeing how your dogs crunch and swallow the uncooked bones, perhaps I will try it for her. Most of the vets in the states do no recommend the raw diet for pets. I also am only giving her the "Core vaccines" instead of the multiple dosages that the vets recommend on a yearly basis. One has to become informed and not over dose our dogs with vaccines. I also plan on not getting her spayed, or at least waiting until she is much older and fully developed. Did you have your Dachshunds spayed? I heard that people in Europe do not spay and neuter as much and as early as people do in the states. Thank you for your wonderful videos. During these troubled times, watching your videos gives me so much joy!

I have a 16 1/2 year old Jack Russell Terrier who has been fed a raw food diet most of his life. He’s in great condition and I’m pretty confident we’ll have him a good many more years. He absolutely loves it! I’m so glad I made the decision to feed him what he’s supposed to eat. It’s all well worth it as he has no illnesses at all. I want him to live to a ripe old age.

Hi, Eveline! I have a question.
At what specific times do you typically feed your dog?
I currently feed mine at 7am and 5pm, but she starts staring at me and waiting for dinner from 1pm which seems to stress her out and make it difficult for her to sleep.
I'm thinking about changing her feeding schedule to 7am and 1pm instead, but I'm worried about what would happen if I'm unable to feed her in the afternoon due to other commitments.
(Feeding her three times a day meant too little food at each meal, so I decided to feeding her only twice a day.)
    Do you have any suggestions?

When I was crying because I was sad, my dog looked at me worriedly. There are many people who have had this experience. Dogs are always watching their owner's expression and condition, so if you are less energetic and depressed than usual, they may immediately sense something is wrong and gently snuggle up to you without saying a word. Some dogs will even look at you with concern, cooing and cooing, or lick your tears to comfort you. If your dog cheers you up when you are depressed, you will feel relieved and regain your energy immediately.🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐶🐶🐶🐶💖💖💖💖💖💋💋💋💋

They are very healthy dogs and have beautiful, shiny coats. I don't think I could switch my 2 small dogs to this diet now, but if I did do this diet I couldn't handle doing the whole quail or the rabbit ear. I wonder with the goose leg, could the leg be de-boned and then add a calcium powder or ground oyster shells on top.

Do you brush their teeth? They look so white and small dogs have such a predisposition to plaque and tartar buildup. I'm wondering if you brush, or if it's also the raw diet.

    • @Loulou_Friends
      @Loulou_Friends  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Yes, we brush their teeth once a week. But Loulou still has tartar which will be removed by the vet in 2 weeks. small dogs (and some other breeds) are always prone to tartar whether they get kibble or raw. Years ago we had Rhodesian Ridgebacks and they had never had tartar. But chewing bones, cartilage, and skin is good for their teeth and gums (and brains). xx

It is the weight without the bowl. They eat a lot. Much more than 'normal' raw diet guidelines for dogs. If we have to give according to the guideline, they become much too skinny. But I have to say that we also take a lot of walks. xx

@@Loulou_Friends Thanks for the reply. Forgot to mention that our CoCo is on a raw food diet too...

Wow! I have NEVER seen a dog have a diet such as this. How did you first learn about such as this for your dogs? I am most curious.

Seing Loulou and Coco enjoying their meals, I wonder if you are not afraid them being choked sometimes? They are eating so fast and the pieces of food are not small.

How do you determine the amount of food per dog?

Boneless meat and organ meats, can be run through the food processor, plus bone meal for dachshunds without teeth. Also, add pancreatic enzymes, vitamins and probiotics to ensure for good digestion. This remedy helps prevent bloating symptoms. Good for older dogs without teeth. Frozen blueberries. I give three, for dessert. I think it helps signal to the dog that the meaty meal is over. My dachshund seems to enjoy it. Then I pick the bowl ip and clean the floor with a little apple cider vinegar on a clean cloth.

Hi Eveline. Is there a reason why CC gets a little bit more than LL? Is it because she is younger? I love watching them eat. They look beautiful and healthy! I enjoyed watching CC eat the rabbit ear and quail egg!! ❤️

They are indeed healthy dogs with shiny coats. A quick question Eveline: why are portions not cut up in smaller chunks?

Hi, Because they have to chew. They look like gigantic pieces in the video but it is really very small. Also the bowl is small. xx

I do this so my lab slows down when eating. He eats his food too quickly and it can upset his stomach

These dogs never have to go to the dentist! Their teeth are kept clean by the noshing on the bones.
