I will only give Princess props when every single shower curtain is replaced with a glass partition. I am so tired of those cling-to-your-body mildew collectors. Princess is not a budget cruise line. They can afford to give their customers a better shower experience.
We were on the transatlantic on Princess from Southampton to Ft. Lauderdale. We loved the elevators and the service. However, the dome show venue is horrible for shows. It’s great that it’s an adult only pool area. However, having to stand in line for around 3 hours before the show to get a seat that is not blocked by the person sitting on the foot stool, is ridiculous. The same thing happens in the Princess arena. You need to get there between 1 1/2 -2 hours before to get a seat in the area facing the center. On the sides, you see only the part infront of you but not what’s happening on the screen on the back of the stage. Honestly, after our first experience in the dome and the theatre, we opted not to go back. Since both venues are way below size of the need to accommodate over 4,000 passengers, maybe providing reservations may alleviate this craziness. 15 minutes before the show starts, if there are still empty seats, allow those without reservations to come in, similar to Royal Caribbean. Another issue we had and paid for was the privacy offered on the 9th floor cabana area. We booked this trip back in June 2023 through Diana Herrera, with Princess. What she sold us was not even close to what we received. 9317 section of cabins were to have 2 jacuzzis, we only had 1 on the far side of our cabin. When we arrived it was broken. Although it was eventually fixed, we couldn’t use it because it was always filled by canana suite guests from other floors, which we were told it was for our section only. We didn’t even have privacy because there were always people sitting right infront of our cabana! Will I be going back to Princess regardless of how wonderful their shows have a reputation of being, will definitely not be going back!! Will we be using
Your video today has me a bit confused because all Princess ships have a smoke-free side of the casino and have had them for a long time. But the smoke doesn't know there's an invisible wall it shouldn't pass. Whereas ALL Celebrity ship casinos are totally smoke-free.
The change in restaurant locations is so logical! We were on the Sun Princess in May and went to all the restaurants you named. Both Dario's and Rudy's deserved to be in more elegant locations, and the American Diner needed to be in a much more casual setting. Well done, Princess!
One thing you didn't mention is what will happen to the ill-fated Park 19 space on the Sun Princess (and on the Star Princess). Maybe you don't know. Maybe nobody outside of Princess executives knows. While aboard the recent transatlantic cruise that ended October 11, there were work crews dismantling parts of Park 19, including loud saws taking down the support pillars for their ride which never started running. Towards the end of the cruise, that work was done and Deck 19 became available for use by passengers. There was a walking track, a few hammocks, and some outdoor furniture. The sport court was off limits and the water feature was not working. I hope they get this space figured out really soon.
I’m really happy Princess has made those changes. One other change I’d like to see is Adult only hot tubs. I’ve been on several cruises where unsupervised children were in hot tubs dumping out water and spitting in them. Outside of this behavior being disgusting, hot tubs can be dangerous for children, especially those unsupervised.
It’s awesome that Princess listened to customer feedbacks and made all these changes on Sun Princess. But when will they get rid of the hospital like shower curtains on other ships?
Still prefer Celebrity. We were considering Sun Princess but decided to go with the Ascent in the end. Nice Princess did these changes but they certainly didn’t start off on the right foot with this class of ship. We will wait at least another year before committing to sailing. There are still areas that need ironing out. 🤦♀️🤷🏻♀️
Just off Emerald Princess, enjoyed the meals at Planks and Steamers that are mid restaurants so included if you do the premier package. Also the ability to order off the app was great. we had drinks several times in the Skywalker Lounge area where the bar is only open late at night. Order the drinks and/or food and it is brought to you. Quiet area at that time and great for sail away views as you leave a port.
The smoke filtering out of the Discovery Princess casino into other venues was a deal breaker for me. The fact of the matter was people were using it as a smoking area and not a casino. This was out of control.
Definitely looks like good changes in the dining options. Now if they make changes towards the dome shows such as more repeats of the shows & reservation so more can see them, they will have answered most of the critics.
The BIG difference is this, CELEBRITY gets it right/does it perfectly the FIRST time. Their EDGE Class (keyword, C-L-A-S-S) has four varied dining options included in your fare. Multiple Specialty Dining options as well. One must remember, Princess is owned by Carnival and that sums it up succinctly. Check out the stock value. Royal Caribbean (RCL) is the parent company of Celebrity & Silversea and their value is OVER ten times that of CCL and RCLH. See for yourself. BTW, Smoking is TOTALLY BANNED in Celebrity casinos.
Plus all their Edge class ships do not use continuous shuffle machines for BJ, and even their older ships offer at least some BJ tables that don't, either. Best casinos at sea.
@@1486230 Yup - but 'reasonable' is in the eye of the beholder. E.g. I don't find any continuous shuffle machine reasonable. That said I found 3:2 at $50 (sometimes), $100 (often) and $300 (always) and other rules were good except no surrender - but that's typical.
Love love love these changes for Sun and Princess Cruises in general. My husband and I will be sailing on her in March 2025 for our honeymoon and I'm pumped that we will get to experience these upgrades in my opinion!
It's great that the new Star Princess will have a segregated smoking area, but why not get rid of it completely? I was just on the Sun Princess for 18 days. The smoke smell in the casino was noticeable but not super annoying. However, the ship is only a few months old and that small is going to just get worse. The ventilation in the casino is good but it can only do so much. Frankly, Princess could announce tomorrow that the casino is now going to be smoke-free. Many people would appreciate that. There still are other smoking areas on the Sun Princess, all outdoors. Regarding the limited seating in the Arena and the Dome, the obvious solution is to adopt a reservation system like the one I encountered on the Symphony of the Seas. If people know they need to plan in advance their visits to see a show in the Arena and the Dome, this will eliminate a serious pain point on the Sun Princess. On that ship, the days when you can just wander into a large theater and get a seat at the last minute are over.
I'm really happy that Princess made the dome pool an adults only pool! This change was much needed for the general public especially now that you can no longer buy a day pass to access the sanctuary pool. I'm curious if the dome itself and the bow area in front of the dome pool is also considered adults only or if it is just limited to the dome pool? I know they have shows in the dome in the evenings and kids will obviously be allowed to attend the shows, but maybe in the daytime hours the dome and the outdoor bow area are also going to be restricted to adults only?? The changes were necessary, so props to them…but the really problem was all the issues in the first place. That ship should’ve never been designed the way it was, and don’t even get me started on Park 19. They’re heading in the right direction, but they need to reassess their designers and try to get it right from the get-go. My first Princess experience was mediocre at best to the point where I’ve written them off, but have been thinking about trying Star Princess once it sets sail…

Hey Jared. One thing I like better on Princess is their Alaska train excursion. They have their own window train with with side and overhead views. Would sail Princess just to try their train. Let’s see what you say on the ship. Nice changes can be made without dry docking. Patrons like to be heard.
Celebrity may have all the bells and whistles in the newer ships BUT they neglect older ships and often lack attention to the details. In their observation on the Solstice, most of the windows have condensation on interfering with the view which is very critical for Alaska.
I was on the recent Transatlantic Cruise on the Sun. To me the biggest failing of that ship is the entertaiment venues. Not nearly big enough and the site lines are horrible. This isnt jist the arena and dome, but Princess live as well. I cant even understand how those got built without anyone saying anything.

Sailed in a suite on the Sun in August and one of the best parts was the service level in the Signature restaurant. I hope that is not diluted in the new larger Sanctuary dining room.

You stated that the Star Princess will have a smoke free Casino. Is that the whole casino? I am an ex-smoker and the sections they have for "no smoking" in the casino doesn't do well. I still can sit in the small section (older ships) and it still stinks. Why can't they understand that not only does people smoking indoors affect others but also the machines, carpeting and walls of the casino. I hope that someday all of the Princess ships casinos become complete no smoking. Thanks for sharing!
You’re talking about out the Sun Princess which is a new type of ship, not Princess in general? I went on the Enchanted Princess and it was ok but then went on the Celebrity Beyond. The Beyond was a wow. This video is a kind of click bait because you didn’t say how Celebrity wasn’t listening.
We have been cruising RC and have done celebrity a few years ago in Alaska. We were not impressed with celebrity. The staff was awesome but we were expecting more. We are done with RC. The ships are too big and too many kids! We are doing our first Princess in July. RC gratuities I am so done with. I was raised to always tip ( dad was a professional waiter back in the day), but when the tips are not going directly to our staff. I will just give them cash. Love the channel. Keep up the awesome job. 👊
First so nice to see the Cabins on the Sun are sooo much better than the Royal Class cabins, which were for sure, the worst we've stayed on that includes RCI, Disney, NCL, Celebrity, HAL & Carnival...those standard cabins on the Regal & Enchantment were awful..just a bed & desk..no couch? Where do you eat? Where do you put your stuff on? And I HATE curtained showers...so cheap & slimy..so nice to see a glass enclosed shower!..as far as the movement of the restaurants, sounds great..I thought where Rudi's was before was way too noisy & casual......now, all they need is a sports bar, which most cruise lines have, and beverage holders in the theaters...I don't like having to hold my drink for an hour..RCI, NCL, Disney all have beverage holders...we go tomorrow for the 5 nighter...
How could a brand new ship need so many changes it’s because they first made huge mistakes and not listen to there passengers in the first place. They made changes to the Park as they saw they had not the family booking go up like they wanted and on the other hand had frustrated the Princess Loyal fan that did not want those slides in the first place. It’s good they have reacted but for real who ever is in charge of that initial roll out should be fired. As for Celebrity the Edge class when came out needed a few tweaks and the actual did listen to the comments as the Beyond and Ascent got even better. For instance they made changes by adding the World Class bar,made Sunset bar much better, changes the walking running track and made the meal choices even more varied just to name a few of those changes. Before I go on this ship will definitely wait to see if the new changes makes sense now.
They should have kept Churchill’s outside the casino and made the casino smoke free people could go in there to have a smoke where I live casino’s are smoke free people have to go outside to smoke

I totally disagree! The food overall is better on Celebrity, especially the buffet. My husband and I have been very disappointed with the food on both of our 2 Princess cruises. We've been impressed with the food on 5 of our 6 Celebrity cruises.

I have seen private smoking rooms which helps but because some ships have a more open area doesn't the smell spread to other areas? Where I live there is no smoking in any casino, got to take those puffs outside to designated areas.

they dont have advertisements with black people AT ALL. their staff and passengers arent diverse. there are plenty diverse people who want to sail premium line also. im seeing more black people on the sun princess but its really deterring and rather sail celebrity. its very unwelcoming.
Better. than Celebrity?? We are just off Sun and believe me these changes wont even scratch the surface of its design disasters! Yes these speciality places needed moved but the fact that Princess thought they coukd get away with putung them where they were is a disgrace. Ive a list a mile long but this is my summary: Ship has no flow. Venues seem to be randomly situated anywhere. You have to do scavenger hunt to find terraces, bars. Buffet on deck 9. Pool deck17!! All public venues are too small for ship this size. Theatre was full 30 mins before show. Dome not big either. We heard people queued for 2 hours to get into show. Not used to full potential during day. Piazza 3 decks although much nicer than other princess, hasnt any wow factor Some restaurants are right on upper level of piazza so noisy. This is same complaint we have with Edge class on Celebrity Room although nice is too narrow. No one of a certain size could negotiate it easily Same with toilet. Although much nicer than other Princess has a glass shower foor that is very tricky to maneuvre around, again if youre over a certain size! Deck 19 being dismantled while we are on board means no running track at all on ship this size Ocean view pool in,out Dome. Ladder stops 4 feet above floor so you need to be fit to even get in or out. No way average aged cruiser could do it! Pool depth was about 3 foot so cant swim anyway. Weve helped 3 people get out already! Buffet seems very limited for ship this size. Not much changes day to day, either lunch or dinner. Dome shut for rehearsals or repairs near enough every day for hours on end. This is only inside space to have beds in it. Biggie for us is the casino is smoking and worse to get from theatre to piazza you either go right through it or (as lots do) go upstairs along room corridors and back down to piazza. Smell leaks in to piazza and restaurants. Spa totally internal. no views to sea as normal Captains announcements remind me of old Cunard. Long winded and pompous.
There are points we make in their video about things that Princess is doing better than Celebrity- we aren’t going into a deck by deck comparison of Princess ships to Celebrity ships but we are happy to see this public feedback as we think Princess is looking at comments like these (and we think they are responding in solid ways).
You're not wrong. We haven't even been on the ship, and all your points are concerns I have. Even before we get on the ship (Oct 19th) I feel overwhelmed knowing I have to navigate the new changes with mobility issues. My husband and I were going over the decks, and a lot of things just seemed silly. But I'll reserve final judgment once we are on it.
@JJCruise I think what i was trying to say is that i dont believe Celebrity would have launched with the amount of flaws. We have done 32 with them though so cant help being a bit biased :) In its favour we found ALL the staff on Sun incredible!

RCL is worth double. The stock price isn’t the indicator of value as the number of shares issued is different. You want to check the market cap.

Just disembarked today from the first sailing. The Dome pool was not adults only. No signage and kids there all day.

I was on the recent Transatlantic Cruise on the Sun. To me the biggest failing of that ship is the entertaiment venues. Not nearly big enough and the site lines are horrible. This isnt jist the arena and dome, but Princess live as well. I cant even understand how those got built without anyone saying anything.

Great informative video. Other cruise lines need to do the same and listen to their customers. Going on my first Princess in January. I am normally loyal to royal. Can't wait for a new experience. Keep up the good work.

Sailed in a suite on the Sun in August and one of the best parts was the service level in the Signature restaurant. I hope that is not diluted in the new larger Sanctuary dining room.

Yes, the changes are great. I don’t need anymore changes…except i think they need to go to reservations for the shows. I am curious about the space that use to be Park 19. 160 days to my embarkation, and i cannot wait. thx for the update🚢🙂

You stated that the Star Princess will have a smoke free Casino. Is that the whole casino? I am an ex-smoker and the sections they have for "no smoking" in the casino doesn't do well. I still can sit in the small section (older ships) and it still stinks. Why can't they understand that not only does people smoking indoors affect others but also the machines, carpeting and walls of the casino. I hope that someday all of the Princess ships casinos become complete no smoking. Thanks for sharing!
It sounds like they plan to have enclosed Non-Smoking or enclosed Smoking Casinos which means no smells of smoke in your Non-Smoking Area. ☺️

You’re talking about out the Sun Princess which is a new type of ship, not Princess in general? I went on the Enchanted Princess and it was ok but then went on the Celebrity Beyond. The Beyond was a wow. This video is a kind of click bait because you didn’t say how Celebrity wasn’t listening.
We have been cruising RC and have done celebrity a few years ago in Alaska. We were not impressed with celebrity. The staff was awesome but we were expecting more. We are done with RC. The ships are too big and too many kids! We are doing our first Princess in July. RC gratuities I am so done with. I was raised to always tip ( dad was a professional waiter back in the day), but when the tips are not going directly to our staff. I will just give them cash. Love the channel. Keep up the awesome job. 👊

First so nice to see the Cabins on the Sun are sooo much better than the Royal Class cabins, which were for sure, the worst we've stayed on that includes RCI, Disney, NCL, Celebrity, HAL & Carnival...those standard cabins on the Regal & Enchantment were awful..just a bed & desk..no couch? Where do you eat? Where do you put your stuff on? And I HATE curtained showers...so cheap & slimy..so nice to see a glass enclosed shower!..as far as the movement of the restaurants, sounds great..I thought where Rudi's was before was way too noisy & casual......now, all they need is a sports bar, which most cruise lines have, and beverage holders in the theaters...I don't like having to hold my drink for an hour..RCI, NCL, Disney all have beverage holders...we go tomorrow for the 5 nighter...

How could a brand new ship need so many changes it’s because they first made huge mistakes and not listen to there passengers in the first place.
They made changes to the Park as they saw they had not the family booking go up like they wanted and on the other hand had frustrated the Princess Loyal fan that did not want those slides in the first place.
It’s good they have reacted but for real who ever is in charge of that initial roll out should be fired.
As for Celebrity the Edge class when came out needed a few tweaks and the actual did listen to the comments as the Beyond and Ascent got even better.
For instance they made changes by
adding the World Class bar,made Sunset bar much better, changes the walking running track and made the meal choices even more varied just to name a few of those changes.
Before I go on this ship will definitely wait to see if the new changes makes sense now.

I totally disagree! The food overall is better on Celebrity, especially the buffet. My husband and I have been very disappointed with the food on both of our 2 Princess cruises. We've been impressed with the food on 5 of our 6 Celebrity cruises.

@@JJCruise 36 seconds.. probably the first time i caught it so quick. You talked about smoking in casinos.. as a non smoker it makes me dislike even entering a casino. I have seen private smoking rooms which helps but because some ships have a more open area doesn't the smell spread to other areas? Where I live there is no smoking in any casino, got to take those puffs outside to designated areas.
@@epicgameztv yes! It is being talked about as not just designated areas but enclosed areas (whether that be enclosed smoking casino space or non-smoking casino) to ensure no smoking is smelled while in the designated non-smoking space. ☺️
This title is so misleading. All this is doing us describing the sun princess this has nothing to do with celebrity
We focus the entire video on what Princess is doing better than Celebrity which we reiterate at the end as well.
We use examples of Celebrity Reflection, Sun Princess, and Star Princess to show how we believe Princess is doing this better than Celebrity by not waiting 12 years to listen.

they dont have advertisements with black people AT ALL. their staff and passengers arent diverse. there are plenty diverse people who want to sail premium line also. im seeing more black people on the sun princess but its really deterring and rather sail celebrity. its very unwelcoming.

Better. than Celebrity?? We are just off Sun and believe me these changes wont even scratch the surface of its design disasters! Yes these speciality places needed moved but the fact that Princess thought they coukd get away with putung them where they were is a disgrace. Ive a list a mile long but this is my summary: Ship has no flow. Venues seem to be randomly situated anywhere. You have to do scavenger hunt to find terraces, bars. Buffet on deck 9. Pool deck17!!
All public venues are too small for ship this size. Theatre was full 30 mins before show. Dome not big either. We heard people queued for 2 hours to get into show. Not used to full potential during day.
Piazza 3 decks although much nicer than other princess, hasnt any wow factor
Some restaurants are right on upper level of piazza so noisy. This is same complaint we have with Edge class on Celebrity
Room although nice is too narrow. No one of a certain size could negotiate it easily
Same with toilet. Although much nicer than other Princess has a glass shower foor that is very tricky to maneuvre around, again if youre over a certain size!
Deck 19 being dismantled while we are on board means no running track at all on ship this size
Ocean view pool in,out Dome. Ladder stops 4 feet above floor so you need to be fit to even get in or out. No way average aged cruiser could do it! Pool depth was about 3 foot so cant swim anyway. Weve helped 3 people get out already!
Buffet seems very limited for ship this size. Not much changes day to day, either lunch or dinner.
Dome shut for rehearsals or repairs near enough every day for hours on end. This is only inside space to have beds in it.
Biggie for us is the casino is smoking and worse to get from theatre to piazza you either go right through it or (as lots do) go upstairs along room corridors and back down to piazza. Smell leaks in to piazza and restaurants.

There are points we make in their video about things that Princess is doing better than Celebrity- we aren’t going into a deck by deck comparison of Princess ships to Celebrity ships but we are happy to see this public feedback as we think Princess is looking at comments like these (and we think they are responding in solid ways).
You're not wrong. We haven't even been on the ship, and all your points are concerns I have. Even before we get on the ship (Oct 19th) I feel overwhelmed knowing I have to navigate the new changes with mobility issues. My husband and I were going over the decks, and a lot of things just seemed silly. But I'll reserve final judgment once we are on it.
@JJCruise I think what i was trying to say is that i dont believe Celebrity would have launched with the amount of flaws. We have done 32 with them though so cant help being a bit biased :) In its favour we found ALL the staff on Sun incredible!
Sun Princess seems like a dressed up version of the new Carnival ships. Poor layout. The changes reflect how poor the design was.
You need to get lei'd. Too many complaints. Nothing and NO ONE is perfect. Don't like Princess, stay away. It's that simple. 🙄👽
