While I certainly understand that wave-selection is, very much, a skill in surfing, in and of itself, and will always have it's place in other surfing contests, it still holds a great deal of luck in how it comes to pass etc. In this setting, the surfers' skill is tested in very much equal wave conditions, and makes for very interesting comparison and competition, in it's own right. The wave pool is absolutely fkn awesome too..!!.. Big fan thereof....

NO. It makes sense to have predictability when judged on form and performance. If you're on the ocean and the first competitors get good waves and the rest get ankle slappers there's no way to judge. This makes it exclusively on form, performance. Kind of like a race track, you don't send racers down a dry track for time, then judge the rest on a wet track. You need similar conditions.
great for practice i guess. but the surfing looks generic, boring and exactly the same for all surfers. Also, the pipe never collapses, so how hard can it be to get out of it? And, it's the same every time.
They need a way pool here in kalak Michigan is nothing to do here I moved from California to hear I'm totally bored I got a house and everything skateboard bike when I just don't have waves no beach it sucks . The total drag Specially when you're from California all there is is beach and having fun are we here I moved here I got nothing going on I wish these rich surfers all got together and look at this blog and the going I'm riding and really think about putting a machine here Cadillac Michigan . That's definitely what this place needs is to much snow here nothing to do in the Winter time That's for sure take care Everyone..ps . Seriously I will get all pro surfers all the ones who can afford actually to do it all together and put away machine like Kelly Slater's here in Michigan I would surf it everyday that's what this place needs up that's all I gotta say .. truly Kirk Sellers aka. Wow...I’ve never seen such amazing surfing end up looking predictable and soulless. Didn’t expect this but I absolutely hated what I saw of the contest
Very predictable and fairly boring to watch and very annoying commentators over hyping with fake American spectators over fakely hyping all was very cringeworthy and was interesting watching Slater at Jbay recently bogging every turn on his wave pool small crap board
