Actually in Europe you don't need Passport to travel between countries,just your ID card is fine... it's called the Schengen Agreement. There no borders control if you're traveling either by car, train or plane. Only countries that require passport is Ireland and the UK. Even Switzerland it's not an EU member and it's in this agreement.

The guy playing Cooper was so funny to me, watching it in 2004, I was expecting to see him more things afterwards, but I felt like I never saw him again. IMDB says he's been in stuff, but I definitely haven't seen any of those other movies/shows. I think I did watch "Across the Universe" once though maybe.

The Schengen Zone was established on the 26th of March 1995. This movie came out in 2004. You don't need a Passport to go from Germany to Italy.
Came here to post this. You can travel between Schengen countries, which is most of Europe these days. But back in 2004 they shouldn't have been able to enter Slovakia without passports or go from Slovakia to Germany. Slovakia only joined Schengen in 2007. But Germany to Italy, sure.
Yes. It's just like visiting the US. Once you get inside the US, you can travel anywhere without needing to show identification.
Plus Europe is tiny, Rome is like a suburb of Berlin.
I wish the US and Canada had a similar deal.

Actually Mary, I lived in Germany in the 80’s as an American teenager. I travelled all over Europe. They really were called youth hostels by everyone, even if it was an unofficial title.

Passports are actually not required for most border crossings within Schengen Area (most of EU+EEA). An exception would be plane travel, where they do still check your passport/ID-card. You are supposed to have a passport/ID-card with you when walking/driving/railing across Europe, but it is normally never checked unless you try to get on a plane.

Maybe it's a stereotype now but there's a reason English fans were, and to some extent still are, universally hated by fans of other countries. I mean there is a reason all English clubs were banned from European competition between 1985 and 1990/91 (after the Heysel Stadium disaster), they pretty much invented hooliganism and took it to a new level. Not to mention the Lansdowne Road riot of 1995, the violence at the 1998 WC...It was really always the English fans being the issue, so it's a well-deserved reputation

The original ending she did turn Scotty down in the scene in Vatican City. The people who seen the film at a film festival when it first came out disliked that ending so that is why the cut to the scene of them in the confessional is there.

I'm big into photography and was active on a Leica forum 20 years ago when this movie came out. Needless to say, the scene when the guy went into the camera shop for a cleaning and was invited to the alley by the cute Leica fangirl got lots of comments from us camera nerds.

The actor portaying Scotty's younger brother is actually German, you can hear his accent slip in when he says, "F-in' A, Scott, I'm takin' intro to German, and even I know that!"

This is definitely one of the most underrated comedies of all time. The Matt Damon cameo is the gold standard of all cameos in film history. Which is really saying something considering how many great cameos are in the movie.

I Remember First Watching The Movie Years Ago When i Was Dirt Poor And i Had Crappy Dollar General Tv Satellite And it Only Had A Few Channels And On One Random Day i Was Scrolling Through The Channels And i Landed On My30 And This Movie Was Just Starting And For Some Reason i Was interested By The Opening Credits And i Ended Up Watching it And it Was incredible.
Matt Damon got the cameo for this film because he was in the area when they were filming the movie The Brothers Grimm

I super enjoyed this movie back in the day when it first came out! I remember watching this for the first time with my best friend Branden. xD It was hilarious! So many laughs throughout the movie. :)

You should eventually watch Road Trip if you haven't yet. This movie is basically a spiritual sequel of it.

You don't actually need a passport to travel inside the EU. But as a non EU citizen it's smart to have one with you in case you are asked for it.

The original slated ending actually did have Mike reject Scotty. But the downer ending was badly recieved by the test audiences, so the happy ending was used for the final cut.

37:10 If memory serves, the ending from the original script actually had Mieke reject Scotty and they changed it midway through production when they were either doing some reshoots or additional footage, because it didn't test well.
